The 2017 MCI D4505 has 0 complaints and 5 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to fuel system leaks, electrical system failures, seat belt malfunctions, and wheelchair lift visibility problems.

There are five recalls affecting different systems on the vehicle, including adaptive equipment, fuel injection, electrical components, and seat belts. The recalls address safety concerns such as fire risks, injury hazards, and compliance with federal safety standards.

Recalls
  • Wheelchair lift lighting. NHTSA recall 24V073000 affects 2,114 vehicles. The red beacon on the Threshold Warning System may be too dim, failing to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 403. This reduces visibility for wheelchair lift users and raises the risk of injury. MCI will replace the TWS kits free of charge.
  • Fuel rail leak. Recall 21V364000 involves 1,845 vehicles. A sealing washer may not seat correctly, causing a high-pressure fuel rail leak. Presence of fuel near ignition sources creates a fire risk. Dealers will inspect and replace fuel rails if needed at no cost.
  • Main Distribution Panel failure. NHTSA recall 21V748000 covers 2,455 coaches. The circuit board in the MDP can fail, potentially causing fire or sudden vehicle shutdown that increases crash risk. MCI will remove the MDP and install a new panel free of charge.
  • Seat belt extension failure. Recall 20V242000 affects 641 vehicles. Seat belts may fail to extend from the retracted position, rendering them unusable and violating FMVSS 208 and 209. Inspecting and replacing seat belts will be performed by dealers without charge.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or unresolved recall issues may have rights under state lemon laws. Consulting a qualified attorney can help clarify these rights and available remedies.
