2013 MACK MRU Complaints and Recall Information
The 2013 MACK MRU has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to service brakes, power train components, engine performance, and exterior lighting based on recall data. There are no direct consumer complaints recorded.
Six recalls affect various systems including brakes, axle hubs, engine components, and exterior lighting. These recalls address defects that pose safety risks such as brake failure, hub separation, fire hazards, and lighting malfunction.
Recalls- Service Brakes. Recall 13V195000 affects 5,203 vehicles due to missing cotter pins on clevis pins in brake slack adjusters. This can cause brake function loss on one wheel, leading to increased stopping distances and directional pulling during braking. Dealers will inspect and install necessary hardware at no charge.
- Axle Hubs. Recall 13V492000 involves 1,155 vehicles with improperly installed pro-torque axle spindle nuts. Loosening of these nuts can cause hub assembly separation, increasing crash risk. Inspections and repairs are provided free by dealers.
- Engine Intake. Recall 14V137000 covers 1,934 vehicles with certain Cummins Westport engines where intake manifold condensation may freeze and impair pressure sensor function. The defect can cause elevated exhaust temperatures or flames, posing fire and burn risks. Authorized service centers will update ECM calibration at no cost.
- Turn Signal Flasher. Recall 14V208000 affects 44,047 vehicles equipped with Hamsar Electronic Flashers that may fail, disabling hazard warning lights and reducing truck visibility. Dealers will replace faulty flashers free of charge.
- ABS Trailer System. Recall 25V030000 impacts 142 vehicles missing anti-lock brake system warning lights and control circuitry for trailers. This noncompliance risks trailer braking failure. Dealers will install the missing components at no charge.
- Engine Crankcase Vent. Recall 15V275000 includes 2,124 vehicles where the 90-degree elbow of the vent tube may detach, allowing engine oil onto hot surfaces and increasing fire risk. Repairs involve securing the elbow and ECM reprogramming and are performed for free.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues related to critical safety systems might have legal protections under state lemon laws. Consulting an attorney specializing in consumer protection and lemon law is advisable in such cases.

SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2010-2018 MRU and 2019-2025 Terrapro towing vehicles. The vehicles are missing the anti-lock brake (ABS) warning light and circuitry that controls the anti-lock brake function for an attached trailer. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
Risk: Driving without a functioning anti-lock brake system may result in the trailer not braking as intended, increasing the risk of a crash.

2124 vehicles affected
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Mack MRU and LEU trucks manufactured June 25, 2010, to April 30, 2015, and 2015-2016 LR6 trucks manufactured from December 18, 2014 through March 6, 2015. Excessive engine crankcase pressures may cause the 90-degree elbow of the vent tube assembly to detach from the crankcase ventilation breather, possibly allowing engine oil to come into contact with hot surfaces.
Risk: If engine oil comes into contact with a hot surface, there could be an increased risk of a fire.
2013 MACK MRU
44047 vehicles affected
EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL:FLASHER UNIT
Mack Trucks Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 CHU, CXU, and MRU, 2007 CT and CV, 2008-2014 GU, and 2011-2014 LEU, and TD trucks manufactured February 28, 2006, through November 8, 2013, and equipped Hamsar Electronic Flasher. The hazard warning lights may fail.
Risk: A failure of the hazard warning lights could reduce the trucks visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
2013 MACK MRU
1934 vehicles affected
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE
Mack Trucks Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 CXU, 2010-2015 LEU, and 2011-2015 MRU vehicles manufactured with certain Cummins Westport Model ISL G and ISX12 G engines. Condensation in the intake manifold may freeze during cold weather conditions and interfere with the proper operation of the intake manifold pressure sensor.
Risk: The improper operation of the sensor could induce elevated exhaust temperatures or flames from the exhaust pipe, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire or burn injury to a person near the exhaust pipe.
2013 MACK MRU
1155 vehicles affected
POWER TRAIN:AXLE HUBS
Mack Trucks is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 CHU, CXU, GU, LEU, and MRU vehicles manufactured with pro-torque axle spindle nuts from August 28, 2012, through August 16, 2013. The pro-torque nut may not have been installed correctly, which may result in a loosening of the nut.
Risk: If the nut comes loose, the hub assembly may separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
2013 MACK MRU
5203 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES
Mack Trucks, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 CHU, CXU, GU, MRU, and LEU trucks manufactured July 16, 2012, through march 18, 2013 and equipped with drum brakes. The clevis pin for the brake slack adjuster may be missing a cotter pin. If the cotter pin is not installed, the clevis pin may loosen and fall out causing a loss of brake function on the affected wheel.
Risk: A loss of brake function at one wheel will lead to increased stopping distances and pulling to the left or right when braking, which may increase the risk of a crash.
