2016 MACK GRANITE (GU) Complaints and Recall Information
The 2016 MACK GRANITE (GU) has 0 complaints and 8 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to the vehicle’s braking, steering, driveline, and electrical systems through recall actions. No direct owner complaints have been submitted for this model year.
Eight recalls address defects impacting multiple vehicle systems, including brakes, steering, engine components, driveline, and exterior lighting. The recalls vary in scope but focus on safety-related repairs.
Recalls- Electrical system and air lines. Recall 15V522000 affects 62 vehicles due to improperly clipped chassis harness and air lines that could fall into the driveline. This may disrupt the electrical and braking systems, increasing crash risk. Dealers will inspect and correctly clip components free of charge.
- Air brake reservoir volume. Recall 15V528000 covers 84 trucks with reservoirs that do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 requirements. Insufficient volume may reduce braking performance and increase crash risk. Dealers will add additional reservoir volume at no cost.
- Turbocharger oil supply line. Recall 15V702000 impacts 2,571 trucks where the turbocharger oil line may leak oil near the exhaust manifold, heightening fire risk. Dealers will inspect and replace or adjust the supply line if necessary free of charge.
- Brake chamber imbalance. Recall 15V804000 involves 679 trucks with rear brake overheating risks due to imbalance between steer and drive axle brakes. Dealers will replace brake chambers to correct the imbalance without charge.
- Turn signal visibility. Recall 23V600000 affects 27,418 trucks with incorrectly positioned turn signals that reduce visibility, failing FMVSS 108 compliance. Dealers will add extra lighting for free to improve signal visibility.
- Steering roll pin missing. Recall 16V098000 covers 1,187 trucks that may lack a roll pin securing the upper steering yoke. Missing the pin can cause steering shaft disconnection and total steering loss. Dealers will inspect and replace the steering shaft if needed free of charge.
- Driveshaft cap nut loose. Recall 16V099000 affects 33,981 trucks where the cap nut retaining the interaxle driveshaft yoke may loosen and detach, allowing driveshaft separation and increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace cap nuts and inspect input shafts, replacing damaged shafts free of charge.
Owners facing repeated repairs due to these safety recalls or unresolved recall remedy issues may have protections under their state’s lemon laws. They should review their rights and consider legal counsel if defects persist.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2015-2023 GU and GR vehicles. The turn signals may be positioned incorrectly, reducing their visibility. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Risk: Low turn signal visibility may not alert other drivers to a turning vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

STEERING
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Granite (GU) and TerraPro (MRU) trucks manufactured from November 9, 2015, through January 19, 2016. The affected trucks may be missing a roll pin to secure the upper steering yoke to the steering shaft.
Risk: If the roll pin is missing, the steering shaft may disconnect from the yoke, resulting in a complete loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash.

33981 vehicles affected
POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2012-2016 Granite (GU), Pinnacle (CHU, CXU), TerraPro (LEU, MRU), Titan (TD), and LR trucks manufactured from September 1, 2011, through September 8, 2015. The cap nut that retains the interaxle driveshaft yoke to the rear axle input shaft may loosen.
Risk: If he cap nut loosens and falls off, the yoke can separate from the axle input shaft and allow the drive shaft to disconnect, increasing the risk of a crash.
2016 MACK GRANITE (GU)
2571 vehicles affected
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:OTHER FUEL TYPES:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Granite (GU), LR, and TerraPro (LEU, MRU) trucks manufactured November 17, 2009 to October17, 2015. The affected trucks have engines with a turbocharger oil supply line that may contact or interfere with the turbocharger inlet elbow, clean air intake clamp, or the air fuel control tube, and result in an oil leak.
Risk: If the turbocharger oil supply line oil leaks in the proximity of the engine exhaust manifold there would be an increased risk of a fire.
2016 MACK GRANITE (GU)
84 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:SUPPLY:RESERVOIR/TANK
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Granite (GU) trucks manufactured September 24, 2011, to July 1, 2015. The affected trucks may be equipped with an air brake system reservoir that does not have a sufficient volume. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
Risk: If the air brake system reservoir has as insufficient volume, braking performance may be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.
2016 MACK GRANITE (GU)
62 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:SUPPLY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2013 and 2015 Titan (TD), model year 2014 and 2015 Pinnacle (CHU), and model years 2009-2010, 2012, and 2014-2016 Granite (GU) trucks. The chassis harness and air lines may not be properly clipped to the crossmember, which can allow the cables and air lines to fall and get twisted in the driveline.
Risk: If the electrical cables and air lines were to fall and get tangled in the driveline, it could affect the electrical system and braking system, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
2016 MACK GRANITE (GU)
679 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC:CHAMBER
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Granite 4X2 trucks manufactured September 17, 2009, to July 31, 2015. Due to a brake imbalance between the steer and drive axle brakes, the rear brakes may overheat.
Risk: If the rear brakes overheat there would be an increased risk of a tire blowout or a wheel-end fire.
