  • Seat belt anchorage detachment. Recall 20V697000 impacts 8 vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts. Shoulder belt and ground anchors may detach during a crash, increasing injury risk. Dealers will reinforce the floor with a rivet and change screws on the seat belt at no cost. Notification began November 23, 2020.
  • Driver’s seat belt improper anchorage. Recall 20V333000 covers 125 vehicles where the driver’s seat belt anchor may be attached with incorrect hardware, raising injury risk in a crash. Replacement of the seat belt hardware is free of charge. Recall started July 20, 2020.
  • Loss of steering control. Recall 20V123000 affects 95 vehicles due to bolts connecting the pitman arm and I-shaft to the power steering box that may loosen, causing complete loss of steering control and increasing crash risk. Lion will replace the bolts free of charge. Recall began March 12, 2020.

Lion Electric Company (Lion Electric) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Lion C and Lion 360 school buses equipped with wheelchair lifts. The shoulder belt and ground anchors intended to hold a wheelchair in place may detach in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection."

Risk: If the shoulder belt and ground anchors detach during a crash, their would be an increased risk of injury to the occupant.

Risk: In the event of a crash, a seat belt that is not be properly anchored can increase the risk of injury.
