There are multiple recalls related to safety and equipment systems for the 2008 LINCOLN MKZ. The recalls address problems involving floor mats, brake hydraulic control units, and airbag inflators, which can present serious safety risks. The following list summarizes the recall details.
Recalls- Floor mat interference. Recall 14E028000 affects 82,579 vehicles due to driver side accessory floor mats that may move and interfere with the accelerator pedal, increasing crash risk. Dealers will provide replacement mats free of charge.
- ABS hydraulic control unit. Recall 19V904000 covers 600,166 vehicles with a defect where valves inside the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit may corrode and fail to close properly, causing increased brake pedal travel and risk of crash. Dealers will flush the brake system and test or replace the control unit free of charge.
- Driver airbag inflator. Recall 21V158000 impacts over 2.6 million vehicles. The driver side inflator may explode due to propellant degradation from humidity and temperature exposure, risking serious injury from metal fragments. Ford will replace the airbag inflator free of charge.
- Passenger airbag inflator Zone A. Recall 16V384000 affects 1,892,343 vehicles registered in specified states and territories. The passenger airbag inflator can rupture in a crash due to propellant degradation, posing a serious injury risk. Owners are advised not to drive until repair, which involves inflator replacement at no cost.
- Passenger airbag inflator Zone B and other states. Recall 17V024000 involves 654,695 vehicles registered in other specified regions. The passenger inflator is at risk of rupture under crash conditions for the same reasons as recall 16V384000. Ford advises owners not to drive vehicles until repairs are complete; parts replacement is free.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, unresolved safety recalls, or safety defects should consider their rights under state lemon laws. Consulting a qualified attorney can help in understanding protections available for vehicles with ongoing safety issues.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
Risk: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
Risk: If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
