2007 LEXUS IS 350 Complaints and Recall Information

The 2007 LEXUS IS 350 has 0 complaints and 10 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to engine components, airbag inflators, fuel system leaks, and visibility systems.

The 10 recalls cover a range of components that affect the engine, fuel system, airbags, and windshield wipers. The recalls address risks such as engine failure, fire hazards due to fuel leaks, and potential injuries from defective airbag inflators.

Recalls
  • Engine valve spring defect. Recall 10V309000 affects 138,874 vehicles. Micro-foreign objects in the valve spring material may weaken the spring, causing it to break. The engine can suddenly stop running while driving, increasing crash risk. Dealers repair this free of charge.
  • Variable Valve Timing (VVT) gear bolt failure. Recall 13V395000 covers 101,584 vehicles. Bolts securing the VVT assembly may loosen after cold start impacts, which can stop the engine while driving and raise crash risk. Lexus dealers replace the VVT unit at no cost.
  • Wiper arm nut torque issue. Recall 13V030000 affects 267,718 vehicles. Insufficient torque on wiper arm nuts can cause wipers to fail if restricted by external loads like heavy snow, reducing driver visibility and increasing crash risk. Dealers install new nuts free of charge.
  • Fuel pressure sensor leak. Recall 14V647000 impacts 422,509 vehicles. Residual plating may cause fuel leaks at the sensor connection, raising fire risk if fuel contacts ignition sources. Dealers clean and reseal the sensor mounting area at no cost.
  • Passenger airbag inflator rupture. Recall 17V006000 involves 577,875 vehicles. Inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation, sending metal fragments into occupants during deployment, risking serious injury or death. Dealers replace the inflator or entire module free of charge.
  • Driver and passenger airbag inflator explosion risk. Recall 19V741000 affects 928,220 vehicles. Inflators previously replaced with the same design may explode from propellant degradation causing metal fragment injuries or death. Dealers replace inflators or airbag assemblies at no charge.
  • Fuel pulsation damper cracks. Recall 18V432000 covers 114,998 vehicles with 3.5L V6 engines. Hardened diaphragms may crack, leaking fuel and increasing fire risk. Dealers replace the fuel delivery pipe with improved dampers free of charge.
  • Passenger airbag inflator defect zone-based. Recall 16V340000 affects 1,754,517 vehicles originally sold or registered in certain states ("Zones A" and "B"). Degraded inflators risk rupture, potentially causing serious injury or death. Dealers replace inflators or airbag assemblies at no cost.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues involving critical components like the engine or airbags may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with a consumer protection attorney could help clarify potential remedies.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2010-2016 4Runner, 2003-2006 Tundra, 2003-2013 Corolla, 2009-2010 Corolla Matrix, 2004-2005 RAV4, 2002-2007 Sequoia, 2011-2013 Sienna, 2008-2012 Scion xB, 2008-2009 Lexus IS-F, 2007-2012 Yaris and Lexus ES350, 2010-2017 Lexus GX460, 2002-2010 Lexus SC430, 2006-2012 Lexus IS250 and IS350 and 2010-2015 Lexus IS250C and IS350C vehicles. These vehicles had their driver or passenger frontal air bag inflators previously replaced under a prior recall using inflators of the same design. The inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Risk: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

ENGINE

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Lexus GS350 vehicles manufactured June 19, 2006, through July 12, 2011; and model year 2006-2011 Lexus IS350 vehicles manufactured May 27, 2005, through July 13, 2011; and model year 2010-2011 Lexus IS350c vehicles manufactured November 25, 2009, through July 19, 2011. These vehicles, equipped with the 2GR-FSE engine, use bolts to secure the housing and sprocket of the Variable-Valve Timing (VVT) system gear assembly. These bolts could become loose due to abnormal impacts generated within the gear assembly immediately after a cold start-up.

Risk: The loose bolts could cause the VVT gear housing and sprocket to separate and result in the engine stopping while the vehicle is being driven, increasing the risk of a crash.
