BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Range Rover vehicles. Water may enter into the rearview camera, which can cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display or display a distorted image.

Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Land Rover Range Rover vehicles. The rear taillight link may be damaged, which can cause exterior vehicle lights, including the rear light mounted in the body, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals to fail to illuminate.

Risk: Exterior lights that fail to illuminate can decrease visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

SEATS:MID/REAR ASSEMBLY

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Land Rover Range Rover vehicles equipped with seven seats. The second-row left seat frame may have been insufficiently welded.

Risk: An improperly welded second-row left seat frame may not adequately secure occupants during sudden braking or a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:OIL/LUBRICATION

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Range Rover Sport, 2020-2023 Range Rover, Defender, 2022-2023 Discovery, and 2023 Range Rover Velar vehicles. The engine cam carrier oil channel may be blocked, which can lead to an oil leak.

Risk: An oil leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Land Rover Range Rover and 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport vehicles. The second-row seat armrest storage compartment latch may fail, allowing the objects from within to be unsecured in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 201, "Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."

Risk: In the event of a crash, unsecured objects from within the armrest compartment may strike the vehicle occupants, increasing their risk of injury.

ENGINE

The contact owns a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated that while driving 60-65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact drove to the destination and parked the vehicle. The contact stated that while attempting to drive the vehicle out of the parking lot, several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart after several attempts and was towed to the dealer, where the battery was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer informed the contact that an unknown part needed to be replaced, but the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.

In addition, the contact stated that the rear passenger’s side door failed to latch as intended, and there was sand and leaves from the outside enter the vehicle due to the failure. The vehicle was parked at my home for a week while our family was on vacation before I returned on August 10th, 2023. It was not driven during this time period. On August 10th, 2023 I came out of the house to drive the vehicle and remotely unlocked the car and sat in the vehicle. One of my children's cars was parked behind me, so I got out of the car and took another vehicle to run a quick 20 minute errand. I returned home and went inside the house. Shortly thereafter the Range Rover caught fire under the hood on the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was parked under the soffit of my house and ended up catching my entire house on fire. The car continued to burn under the hood until it was put out by the fire department. The fire department and other investigators traced the source of the fire to the right front portion of the Range Rover under the hood on the passenger side. My neighbor also witnessed the car buring in this area right before he went to get a fire extinguisher and call the fire department.
