2018 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER VELAR

1. The components that failed were part of the coolant system, specifically the coolant pipes. JLR used plastic coolant pipes which over time deteriorate and lead to massive coolant leaks, and in my car it got so bad that even with the engine off the coolant would just pour out in a couple seconds. 2. This leads to severe overheating issues. While I was regularly driving home, the vehicle started smoking which prompted me to pull over. If I had kept going, there is a chance a catastrophic failure could have happened and put my life and others at risk since I was traveling on a high speed road. 3. This problem has been reproduced and reported by many owners, since the plastic coolant pipes have been used in many vehicles. The dealership also said they were aware of this issue and explained how the part deteriorates over time. 4. My car has not been inspected by the manufacturer, but has been by the dealership. 5. I did notice that the coolant was dropping a few weeks prior (it was significantly under MIN but no warning lights). I took it to the dealership and they conducted a pressure test but found no leaks. Then a few weeks later, as I was driving regularly, the vehicle started smoking and the low coolant light appeared. This was the first time the light appeared, and the coolant level was extremely low. I have videos/pictures of most things including the coolant level that prompted me to initially take the vehicle to the dealership, inspection report from the dealer, also the smoke and coolant level of the car during the breakdown, and the repair documents the dealer provided with the broken parts.

My vehicle was sitting in my driveway for five days over the Fourth of July weekend this year into the Wednesday of the following week when I walked out to my car and saw that the windshield had long cracks all over it commencing in the frit. There was no debris, rock, or anything in the well of the windshield or in the driveway. This is my second Range Rover Velar and while there was no impact to this windshield, I have seen that these windshields are very sensitive and easily damaged by the slightest things. I am really coming to believe that Jaguar Land Rover is using defective materials. Please investigate this potentially serious safety issue. Thank you!

The contact owns a 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated. The low oil pressure warning light and the check engine warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that coolant intrusion into the engine had caused the engine to fail. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
2021 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER VELAR

I purchased a used 2021 SUV from a licensed dealer in January 2025. At the time of sale, the odometer was disclosed as showing just over 72,000 miles. However, I obtained a third-party vehicle history report that shows the vehicle had over 73,000 miles six months earlier. I personally photographed the odometer at nearly 76,000 miles only three days after the purchase. This suggests the odometer reading was rolled back or misrepresented prior to the sale. Immediately after the purchase, the vehicle experienced multiple issues including: A battery failure on the day of purchase A dashboard warning for “SOS System Limited Functionality” within a few weeks A missing fuel filler cap that triggered a vehicle system alert Severely worn tires that required immediate replacement The SOS system malfunction was confirmed and inspected by the dealer. The other issues were documented with photographs and reviewed during service follow-up. I believe the odometer discrepancy misrepresented the vehicle’s condition and contributed to these early failures. I am concerned this vehicle may have been tampered with or inadequately reconditioned before being sold, putting the safety of my family and other drivers at risk.

ID: 2081833ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact’s mother owns a 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. There was white smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle due to the engine overheating. The failure occurred within 10 minutes of driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to dealer, who diagnosed that the auxiliary radiator, cooling system hose, and radiator deflector had failed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who diagnosed that the camshaft timing solenoid had failed and was repaired. The failure remained consistent, and the vehicle was returned to the dealer a third time, who repaired the fuel pump, crank shaft radiator. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the coolant and water pump had failed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted and was no longer drivable. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V040000 (Engine). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

FUEL DOOR UNABLE TO LOCK AFTER VEHICLE IS LOCKED Bought a new 2026 Range Rover velar about a week ago. I was surprised to see fuel door does not lock when vehicle is locked. I pressed the fuel door with my keys outside of vehicle reach and fuel door opened. This can lead to fuel theft and vandalism. Anybody can put anything in the fuel door because of its inability to lock and it can cause serious accident when you drive. No modern vehicle has its fuel door open when vehicle is locked. I have driven Mercedes, BMW, KIA, Honda, when vehicle is locked, everything is locked including FUEL DOOR. Brought it up to Land Rover Dealership, Huntington, NY, they literally told me they don’t care and nothing they can do about it. Such a shame, this needs serious and urgent recall and fix.
