STEERING:LINKAGES:KNUCKLE:SPINDLE:ARM

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The front suspension upper knuckle joint may crack, which can result in suspension arm detachment.

Risk: Suspension arm detachment can cause a loss of vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash.

SEAT BELTS:FRONT:RETRACTOR

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The driver's seat belt emergency locking retractor may not lock as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies" and 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk: During hard braking before a crash, the seat belt emergency locking retractor may not lock as intended, increasing the risk of injury.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Range Rover and 2014-2016 Range Rover Sport vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under Recall 19V-392, however the repair may not have been completed properly. Due to a problem with the Keyless Vehicle Latching System (KV Latch), the doors may appear to be closed but may be unlatched.

Risk: Unlatched doors may open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a crash.

These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under Recall 19V-390, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A spring in the Keyless Vehicle Latching System (KV Latch) may get stuck, causing the left hand door to remain unlatched when the door is closed.

Risk: An unlatched door may open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.

Risk: If the driver brakes prior to a crash, the ELR will not lock at the correct g-force level, increasing the risk of injury.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2016 Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The passenger frontal air bag inflator initiator may fail to ignite during a crash.

Risk: If the air bag inflator initiator fails to ignite, the passenger frontal air bag will not deploy, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

SEAT BELTS:PRETENSIONER

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport vehicles and 2016-2017 Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The affected vehicles have seatbelt pretensioners that may not function properly in the event of a crash.

Risk: If the front seat seatbelt pretensioners do not function properly, the seat occupants may not be adequately restrained in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2016 Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles and 2017 Range Rover Evoque vehicles. The affected vehicles have a front passenger air bag inflator initiator that may fail to ignite during a crash, preventing the air bag from deploying.

Risk: In the event of a crash of sufficient severity, the front passenger air bag may not deploy as required, increasing the risk of injury.

AIR BAGS

The airbag light came on by itself.

ENGINE

On 4/13/2025 as my husband and I were exiting the Zoom Express Car Wash, vehicle accelerated as I shifted from neutral to drive. As shown in the footage, I was unable to brake and stop the vehicle. After attempting to brake several times, my husband shifted the gear shift from drive to neutral and the vehicle rolled to a complete stop. The impact of hitting two barriers, two curbs and ditch caused back injury. Germain Land Rover was unable to reproduce the malfunction due to the vehicle was inoperable. Germain Land Rover was unable to identify any failures. The vehicle's alarm engaged as we were going through the car wash. SUSPENSION

Steering knuckle on the driver and passenger side of my vehicle are cracked. Defects have been confirmed by JaguarLandRover Vancouver in British Columbia. I called JLR in Lynnwood, WA and Bellevue, WA as well as JLR North America and have been told the fix has not yet been determined. The fix is to replace the broken parts, this isn't hard to figure out. Now I'm going to have to pay to get this fixed and cross my fingers I get properly reimbursed.

Right hand steering knuckle has developed a crack at the top where the upper ball joint is clamped.

No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed failures with the front passenger side upper steering knuckle and front axle tube. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V840000 (Steering), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was filed, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 160,000.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:UREA INJECTION SYSTEM (DEF)

The contact owns a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "DEF Quality Error No Engine Restarts In 250 miles" displayed, and the vehicle shut off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who flushed and refilled the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) system, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the injectors, updated the PCM, cleaned the filter, and flushed and refilled the DEF system. The failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who removed suds from the intake manifold, replaced the valve covers, and flushed and refilled the DEF system for the third time. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,735.

The contact owns a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH and making a right turn, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the suspension upper knuckle joint was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to 24V840000 (STEERING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance, and informed the contact that the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 72,476.

The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who diagnosed that the upper front suspension knuckle joint had fractured on the driver’s and passenger’s side. The mechanic informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V840000 (Steering); and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle had not been repaired. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The contact owns a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that coolant began to leak from the engine without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a leak was discovered in all of the hoses connected to the radiator. The contact had the vehicle repaired by the mechanic. Approximately a year later, the "Low Engine Coolant" warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over and discovered coolant pouring out of the engine. The vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the expansion tank was defective and needed to be replaced. Once the mechanic began working on the vehicle, he also discovered a leak in the radiator and a defective thermostat. The contact was informed by the mechanic that there was a recall(recall unknown) placed on the vehicle; however, the contact's vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The contact owns a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated while parked at the gas station, the fuel gauge became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that recalls were VIN-specific and offered no assistance. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V337000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 120,311.
