Recalls

  • Front lower control arm fasteners. NHTSA campaign number 16V889000 involves 220 vehicles. Fasteners may fail due to assembly error, which can cause separation of the steering knuckle and affect vehicle handling, increasing crash risk. Land Rover will replace the affected hardware free of charge. The recall started January 27, 2017. Owners should contact Land Rover at 1-800-637-6837 with recall numbers Q650/Q651.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs related to power steering failure or unresolved recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with a consumer protection attorney could clarify available options.

STEERING

I was driving down the road and my power steering stopped working. I could have caused a crash because I could not turn the steering wheel, but I was able to pull over on the highway. There is a recall out for this problem but for some reason my dealership and Land Rover in Scarborough Maine have said my VIN# is not part of the recall #N642 and repair will cost me $4,600.00. My mechanic has looked at my vehicle and the 3 bolts that hold the power steering pump in are all corroded and broke off. I have the parts and anyone can come take a look. There were no warning lights or messages.
