2019 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY Complaints and Recall Information
The 2019 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY has 4 complaints and 22 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with the rear right door latch failing to close properly, multiple window regulators malfunctioning, and problems with the hood release cable. One owner mentioned the door latch failed again after replacement under recall. Complaints also include airbag sensor and fuel vapor purge valve concerns, although no recalls address those.
Common Issues
- Rear door latch failure. Rear right door latch fails to close or latch while driving, posing potential safety risks as doors can open unexpectedly.
- Window regulator malfunction. Multiple window regulators fail, preventing windows from moving up or down.
- Hood release cable defect. Hood cannot be opened due to a faulty release cable. A previous TSB for 2017-2018 models addresses this, but dealers may refuse repair on 2019 models.
- Seat harness airbag sensor error. Sensors intended to ensure proper airbag deployment report faults though no recall covers this issue.
- Fuel vapor purge and PCV valve issues. Problems with purge and diaphragm valves have been reported with no current recall in place.
The vehicle has 22 recalls addressing various components including door latches, electrical systems, lighting, and engine parts. These recalls cover defects that impact safety and vehicle operation. Repairs generally involve disabling faulty systems, updating software, or replacing defective parts free of charge.
Recalls
- Rear door latch and instrument cluster (Recall 23V393000). Approximately 29,861 vehicles affected. The UniLatch Keyless Vehicle entry system may fail to latch rear passenger doors properly, causing doors to open while driving. The instrument cluster warning light may also fail to alert the driver. Dealers will disable the UniLatch function. No "Do Not Drive" advisory issued.
- Auto High Beam lighting control module (Recall 21V117000). Around 26,805 vehicles affected. Software defect prevents indication when high beams activate automatically, violating FMVSS 108. This increases crash risks due to reduced visibility for oncoming traffic. Dealers will update software free of charge.
- Crankshaft pulley retaining bolt (Recall 19V040000). About 2,587 vehicles affected. Retaining bolt on V6 or V8 engines may fracture, causing engine failure and increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace the defective bolt free of charge.
- Battery ground stud (Recall 20V694000). Roughly 11,084 vehicles affected. Loose contact between battery ground stud and chassis may cause electrical faults, including loss of power or shutdown while driving, increasing crash risk. Ground stud will be replaced free of charge.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs of door latches, electrical problems, or unresolved recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a consumer protection attorney familiar with lemon law claims might be beneficial for those facing ongoing defects or safety concerns.

The hood will not open due to a faulty cable. Land Rover issued a TSB - LTB01208NAS4 for years 2017-2018. I have a 2019 with the same issue. Dealer refused to perform the TSB, despite me having the same issue. Uploading the TSB from prior NHTSA complaints. Please help.

The door latch on the rear right of the car failed while driving, Door wouldn't close, My 8 year old son sits on that side for school runs. This was replaced under the recall but it failed again. Also I've had 2 window regulators go in this vehicle apparently it's a common problem window would not go up or down.
