2017 KME PREDATOR SS PUMPER Complaints and Recall Information
The 2017 KME PREDATOR SS PUMPER has 0 complaints and 13 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to structural components, suspension, electrical systems, and equipment malfunctions according to recall data.
There are 13 recalls affecting various systems on the KME Predator SS Pumper, including body structure, suspension, electrical components, latches, and fire fighting equipment. These recalls address risks such as injury from cab movement, loss of vehicle control, battery explosions, and reduced water pressure.
Recalls- Cab hydraulic system. (NHTSA 19V528000) Affects 529 vehicles due to hydraulic velocity fuses failing to lock the cab if the system fails during raising or lowering. The cab may close quickly and injure occupants underneath. Fix involves replacing the velocity fuses free of charge.
- Rear axle suspension welds. (NHTSA 21V097000) Affects 88 vehicles where insufficient welds on suspension mounts and torque rod mounts may break, causing mounts to separate from the axle. This can lead to loss of vehicle control and increased crash risk. Dealers will inspect and repair welds free of charge.
- Electrical touchscreen misactivation. (NHTSA 16V586000) Affects 74 vehicles with Class 1 Ultraview Touchscreens that may falsely activate switches without operator knowledge, potentially turning emergency accessories on or off unintentionally. The fix is reprogramming the units at no cost.
- Flashlight battery explosion risk. (NHTSA 20V051000) In 41 vehicles, Pelican flashlight battery packs may explode during charging, increasing injury risk. Owners will have flashlight batteries returned and repaired free of charge.
- Sliding cover gas spring lock failure. (NHTSA 19V267000) Affects 148 vehicles where the gas spring lock for the lift-up cover can be unintentionally disabled, risking the cover falling on personnel. The remedy replaces gas springs with an improved locking mechanism or adds a separate stay arm, free of charge.
- Water pump pressure relief valve corrosion. (NHTSA 17V765000) In 74 vehicles, corrosion may cause the valve ring to fail, opening the relief valve and reducing water pressure. This reduction impedes firefighting efforts. Dealers will install a remedy kit at no cost.
Owners who face repeated repairs or safety defects related to these recalls may want to investigate their state’s lemon law protections. Persistent safety issues or unresolved recall problems might entitle owners to legal remedies.
