2017 KME PREDATOR SS AERIAL Complaints and Recall Information

The 2017 KME PREDATOR SS AERIAL has 0 complaints and 5 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to the functionality and safety of the aerial and hydraulic systems based on recall information.

The vehicle has five recalls that address defects involving hydraulic cab lift components, aerial ladder speed control software, aerial platform tether control, and ladder position sensors. These recalls affect systems critical to safe operation and stability of the aerial apparatus.

Recalls
  • Hydraulic cab lift velocity fuses. NHTSA recall 19V528000 affecting 529 vehicles involves a failure in velocity fuses that may prevent the cab from locking in place during hydraulic system failure. This defect risks the cab quickly closing and injuring occupants underneath. The remedy is replacement of the velocity fuses free of charge.
  • Aerial ladder tip control software. NHTSA recall 17V504000 affecting 20 vehicles concerns a software error causing the aerial ladder tip speed to suddenly shift from 20% to 100%. The unexpected acceleration increases risk of injury to users or those nearby. Dealers will update the software at no cost during repair.
  • Aerial platform tether control. NHTSA recall 18V393000 covering 12 vehicles addresses a defect where unplugging the tether control during operation causes the aerial to continue moving the last command. This ongoing movement can cause injury. The fix involves installing updated software to stop the aerial safely.
  • Ladder position sensor water leakage. NHTSA recall 16V930000 impacting 82 vehicles identifies water intrusion into the ladder position sensor. This causes improper ladder contact with the truck or misplacement off the short jack side, increasing injury risk. Inspection and replacement of mounts and bearing systems are performed free of charge.

Owners with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues involving safety defects may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with a consumer protection attorney can help clarify these rights and options.
