2007 KIA SEDONA Complaints and Recall Information
The 2007 KIA SEDONA has 3 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report problems with starting the vehicle, especially in hot weather. Electrical issues such as dashboard warning lights for airbags, ABS, and check engine are also reported, along with fuse failures and difficulty diagnosing the root cause.
Common Issues- Starting problems. The vehicle sometimes fails to start during hot weather, requiring banging on the relay to initiate ignition.
- Electrical malfunctions. Dashboard lights including airbag, ABS, and check engine illuminate intermittently, linked to suspected electrical or fuel system faults.
- Fuse failures. Replaced fuses blow repeatedly without a clear source of the electrical fault identified.
There are 6 recalls affecting multiple systems on the 2007 KIA SEDONA, including lighting, suspension, brakes, hood latch, and electrical modules.
Recalls- Stop lamp switch. Recall 13V114000 affects 980,377 vehicles. The stop lamp switch may malfunction causing brake lights to fail and cruise control to not deactivate. It may also intermittently affect push-button start, brake-transmission shift interlock, and ESC warning lights. Brake light failure and unintended vehicle movement increase crash risk. Kia will replace the switch at no charge.
- Front lower control arms (salt corrosion). Recall 13V550000 affects 79,867 vehicles mainly in northern states. Control arms may corrode and break from salt exposure, resulting in possible loss of vehicle control. Owners will be notified for inspection, rustproofing, or replacement free of charge.
- ABS module electrical short. Recall 20V088000 affects 228,829 vehicles. Moisture can enter the ABS module causing an electrical short and possibly an engine compartment fire even with the vehicle off. Kia will install a relay to prevent power flow to the module when ignition is off, free of charge.
- Secondary hood latch. Recall 16V389000 covers 219,800 vehicles. The secondary hood latch may fail to engage, allowing the hood to open unexpectedly while driving. Kia will replace or service the latch at no charge.
- Front lower control arms (corrosion repair). Recall 16V387000 affects 97,884 vehicles in certain states. Similar corrosion issues as recall 13V550000 with control arms at risk of breaking. Kia will replace or treat control arms depending on model year free of charge.
Owners dealing with repeated electrical or starting issues, as well as those affected by multiple recalls involving safety-critical components, may have rights under state lemon laws. Consulting with a qualified attorney could help address unresolved repairs or recall-related defects.

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Sedona and 2007-2009 Sorento vehicles. Moisture may enter the Anti-lock Brake (ABS) Module and result in an electrical short.
Risk: An electrical short within the ABS Module may cause an engine compartment fire, even when the vehicle is turned off, increasing the risk of an injury.
2007 KIA SEDONA
97884 vehicles affected
SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH
Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Kia Sedona vehicles manufactured from June 15, 2005, through April 04, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.
Risk: If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH
Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Rondo, model year 2007-2011 Sedona, Sorento and Sportage, model year 2010-2011 Soul, model year 2008-2011 Optima, model year 2010 Forte, model year 2007-2009 Amanti, and model year 2009 Borrego vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Kia recalled 623,658 model year 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, model year 2007-2011 Sorento, model year 2007 Sedona, model year 2010-2011 Soul, and model year 2011 Optima vehicles. In September 2013, Kia informed the agency that it was adding an additional 356,719 vehicles to this campaign. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 980,377. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
Risk: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of PARK without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.

Unknown... So whenever it gets hot in the summertime lately. My car has an issue starting sometimes it doesn't start and I've taken it in have the mechanic look at it. They can't figure out what's going on with that. They say that it's known issue that they've had and they told me to Bang on the relay inside my vehicle. And sometimes that starts up right away and other times it takes a little bit for my car to start. They could not figure out what was causing it and sometimes all of my lights on my dashboard light up my air bag, ABS, check engine. Those will light up and I think it's something to do with the electrical or the fuel system. I don't know, i've replaced parts on it and I'm still having the issue. I don't know what is going on. I've replaced some fuses and they've blown so that's why I'm thinking it's something to do with the electrical. My mechanic couldn't figure out what it was and he says he has had many kias have the same issue.
