2022 KEYSTONE PASSPORT Complaints and Recall Information
The 2022 KEYSTONE PASSPORT has 2 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report problems with the living room slide mechanism where bolts attaching the lower cable pulleys shear off. These failures occur without warning and have necessitated repairs by the authorized dealership.
Common Issues
- Slide pulley bolt failure. Bolts attaching the lower cable pulleys for the living room slide shear off unexpectedly, leaving damaged components inside the camper wall. Repairs were performed twice by the selling dealer.
- Safety risk from slide failure. If pulley bolts break while driving, the slide could extend unexpectedly causing collision or rollover hazards during maneuvers such as turns.
The 6 recalls cover various components including axles, tires, suspension, coupler hitch, trailer hitch, and the electric retractable awning. They involve potential overload, improper welds, and structural fabric issues.
Recalls
- Axles, tires, and rims. (NHTSA 22V206000) Affects 35 trailers that were built with incorrect size axles and tires causing possible vehicle overload. The overload risk increases crash chances. Dealers will replace axles, tires, and rims free of charge.
- Coupler hitch welds. (NHTSA 22V195000) Applies to 1155 trailers with potentially improper coupler welds risking trailer separation from the tow vehicle. Separation raises crash and injury risks. Dealers will inspect and replace the coupler as needed at no cost.
- Trailer hitch components. (NHTSA 22V195000) Same recall as coupler hitch inspection and replacement for 1155 trailers addressing weld defects risking trailer separation and related hazards.
- Electric retractable awning fabric. (NHTSA 22V604000) Covers 20,610 trailers with awnings that may have welded seams prone to separation. This defect can cause the awning to drop beyond normal operation increasing injury risk. Dealers will repair or replace the fabric free of charge.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or unresolved recall issues in these travel trailers may have rights under their state’s lemon laws.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The bolts attaching the lower cable pulleys for the living room slide shear off. The damaged components are still in the wall of my camper. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? If they had broken going down the road during the next right hand turn the slide could come out unexpectedly causing collision or roll over of the travel trailer. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The travel trailer has been repaired on two separate occasions by the authorized selling dealership. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I called the manufacturer to alert them of this issue and they were not interested. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning signs the pulleys will just burst off the walls. My travel trailer has only been used 6 times since being purchased new.
