  • Air disc brake caliper orientation (10V535000). Affected 417 vehicles. Calipers could be installed on the wrong side of the drive axle causing interference with suspension brackets and reduced braking performance, increasing crash risk. Dealers will verify and correct caliper orientation free of charge.
  • EGR valve seal defect (10V453000). Affected 384 vehicles. A defective seal on the EGR valve actuator may cause engine oil leaks onto hot exhaust components, creating fire risk. Dealers will replace the entire EGR valve assembly free of charge.
  • Oil module filter cap (11V127000). Affected 4664 vehicles. The centrifugal spinner filter cap may become loose, allowing engine oil to leak onto exhaust components and potentially cause a fire. Dealers will re-torque the cap and install a secondary retention device free of charge.
  • Engine software fast idle control (11V380000). Affected 211 vehicles. The fast idle control may activate while the transmission is in gear, causing unexpected acceleration and overriding the parking brake, increasing crash risk. Dealers will update engine software free of charge.
  • Fifth wheel partial coupling (11V388000). Affected 10 vehicles. The Fontaine Ultra LT fifth wheel can be partially coupled without full engagement, possibly causing trailer separation and crash risk. Repairs have been completed by the equipment supplier, and no owner notification is planned.
  • Fifth wheel locking mechanism damage (15V641000). Affected 290 vehicles. Damage to the Fontaine Ultra LT fifth wheel locking mechanism may cause failure to properly engage, risking trailer detachment and crash. Dealers will replace the fifth wheel with an Ultra NT model free of charge.

The affected trucks are equipped with Fontaine Ultra LT Fifth Wheel connectors, which, due to cumulative damage to the fifth wheel and its locking mechanism, have a locking mechanism that may fail to operate or to properly engage.

Risk: If the fifth wheel and locking mechanism are sufficiently damaged, the locking mechanism may fail to operate as intended and the trailer may unexpectedly detach from the tractor, increasing the risk of a crash.

PACCAR IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR KENWORTH AND PETERBILT VEHICLES. A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE SEAL SUPPLIED BY A COMPONENT MANUFACTURER INSTALLED ON THE OUTPUT SHAFT OF THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE ACTUATOR MAY CAUSE EVENTUAL DELAMINATION OF THE SEAL. DELAMINATION OF THE SEAL MAY ALLOW ENGINE OIL TO LEAK FROM THE EGR VALVE ONTO EXHAUST COMPONENTS.

Risk: THE LEAKING OF ENGINE OIL ONTO HOT EXHAUST COMPONENTS, SUCH AS WHEN THE ENGINE IS UNDER SIGNIFICANT LOAD, MAY CREATE THE POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE.

THE AIR DISC BRAKE CALIPER COULD BE INSTALLED ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE DRIVE AXLE POTENTIALLY CAUSING INTERFERENCE WITH THE SUSPENSION BRACKET AND THE REAR SUSPENSION AS THE OUTERMOST BRAKE PADS WEAR AND THE FLOATING CALIPER MOVES INBOARD.

Risk: AS THIS INTERFERENCE GETS LARGER, THIS COULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO REDUCED BRAKING PERFORMANCE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
