Recalls
  • Electrical system failure. Recall 12V134000 affects 273 police models with additional police accessories that may cause the 30-amp main fuse to blow or chafe leading to a short, which can stall the engine and increase crash risk. Kawasaki provides free repairs and began notification on April 5, 2012.
  • Brake pedal interference. Recall 12V343000 covers 13,289 motorcycles from 2008 to 2012. A gap between the brake pedal and guard allows debris to cause brake drag, overheating the rear brakes and causing possible lock-up or failure, with potential front brake issues on certain models. Repairs include replacing the rear master cylinder rod end and removing the brake guard at no cost. Notification started July 2012.
  • Police accessory installation defects. Recall 13V387000 impacts 337 police motorcycles from 2009 to 2013. Improper accessory installation leads to fuel leaks, reduced braking ability, and loss of electrical power causing engine stalls, increasing crash risk. Kawasaki is sending trained personnel to repair motorcycles free of charge since August 21, 2013.
  • Main fuse blowing due to wiring. Recall 15V117000 involves 194 police motorcycles modified from 2009 to 2013. Additional police wiring harnesses may chafe and cause shorts, blowing the 30-amp fuse and stalling the engine. This recall expands previous campaigns and includes free repairs with notifications starting April 13, 2015.

Owners affected by repetitive failures or unresolved recall repairs related to electrical, brake, or fuel system defects may want to explore their rights under state lemon laws for potential remedies.
