Turtle mode was activated for the 5th time on my Jeep while driving on the highway. Was in traffic at the time and was beginning acceleration when it went into turtle mode. I was able to SLOWLY go across 1 lane of traffic to pull over. I was able to pull over. While I was on the shoulder the turtle mode went away and I was able to resume my drive. If I have been going the speed limit when this happened I and other could have been severely injured if my car suddenly lost power.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Loss of Motive Power - will be driving on the interstate and the car will suddenly go into turtle mode with no warning and the car will abruptly slow down to a slow crawl. Took to dealer they could not find a diagnostic code so in their mind there is nothing to fix (currently still at dealer). This has happened to me 4 times.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked upon depression of the accelerator pedal with a message to "Service Transmission Continue in D - Do Not Shift or Turn Engine Off" was displayed on the instrument panel. On the first failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to Galeana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (14375 S Tamiami Trl, Fort Myers, FL 33912); however, the contact was informed that the dealer would not honor warranty. The vehicle was taken to another dealer and the body control module was replaced. The failure returned months later while the contact was out of town and the vehicle was towed cross country on the contact's trailer back to the dealer. The contact was informed on the visit that the transmission control module was defective and the TCM was replaced; however, the failure returned months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it remained. The dealer reached out to the manufacturer while the contact waited for a decision from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was 2,132.

SERVICE BRAKES

I was traveling at 80mph on an interstate in the fast lane. There were only two lanes. Road was straight with a slight incline. Temperature was 98 degrees. I had been traveling for 10 hours that day. I hear the same bing chime the Jeep makes when it switches from electric to hybrid mode. I was already in hybrid mode and I experienced a lost of power. My vehicle started to coast which it never does because the regenerative breaks always slow me down. I noticed a message on my display but I could not read it as I used the momentum I had to reach the shoulder of the slow lane and coast to a stop. I put the car in park. The message was gone. A few seconds after putting the vehicle in park, it restarted and behaved normally again. This happened one day after being serviced at the dealer. I have all recalls completed including one that covers this issue. I took the Jeep in to be checked and they were unable to read codes or detect any issues.

SERVICE BRAKES

On August 12, 2025, the brakes on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler failed and resulted in a low speed collision. Brakes were being applied to stop for a traffic light and when I realized the vehicle was not stopping I pushed pedal to floor twice to try and stop vehicle. After the accident the vehicle was towed to Tate Jeep dealership who could not duplicate the incident or identify why pressure in brake line dropped. Air bags did not deploy.

Subject: Urgent Safety Complaint Regarding Jeep with Death Wobble – Purchased from Maxon Buick GMC, Union, NJ Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a serious safety issue involving a Jeep SUV I purchased for my son on [XXX], from Maxon Buick GMC located in Union, New Jersey. The vehicle was purchased for over $30,000, and within the first day of driving, my son began experiencing what is commonly referred to as the "Death Wobble." This violent shaking occurs unexpectedly while driving and has been happening every day since the vehicle was purchased. After doing some research, we learned that the “Death Wobble” is a known issue with certain Jeep models, and the symptoms are consistent with what my son has experienced. It is extremely frightening and dangerous, and I am deeply concerned for his safety and the safety of others on the road. I do not understand how a dealership is allowed to sell a vehicle in this condition. Selling a vehicle with such a potentially deadly defect is both irresponsible and unethical. This issue must be investigated and addressed immediately to prevent further risk to drivers and passengers. Please consider this an urgent request to look into this matter. I would appreciate confirmation of this complaint and any information on what steps will be taken to hold the dealership and manufacturer accountable. I HAVE VIDEO WHILE IT'S HAPPENING BUT UNABLE TO UPLOAD FOR SOME REASON Thank you for your time and attention to this critical safety issue. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle experienced an electrical failure and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the HV Battery had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part was on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 34,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

The vehicle experienced multiple serious fuel system failures, including a failed fuel injector and high-pressure fuel pump. After these components were replaced, it was confirmed that fuel was still entering the engine crankcase. At no point did the vehicle trigger a “Check Engine” light, oil dilution warning, low oil pressure alert, or any hybrid/electric powertrain. This represents a critical safety & reliability issue. Fuel dilution of engine oil can: severely degrade lubrication, increase crankcase pressure, and/or lead to internal engine failure or fire The lack of any warning or diagnostic code suggests either: a software calibration issue in the ECM/BCM that failed to detect the problem, a sensor failure, and/or a defect in the onboard diagnostic system itself. This could indicate a broader defect affecting the safety of the 4xe platform and request investigation. This failure delayed necessary service and put both vehicle and occupants at risk.

DEATH WOBBLE. While driving at freeway speeds hitting a road bump my Jeep went into a severe uncontrollable shaking wherein the entire car was moving sideways and in an up and down motion. i did some research online and found this condition to be a common Jeep Wrangler problem. i brought the car to the dealer and they said it is a known problem with the steering damper. In my research online, many believe the problem is the tie rod, drag link and ball joints are the cause and the steering damper just masks the symptoms until it wears out. i had a third party off road repair shop look at the suspension parts and they noted the drag link had play within the bushings and recommended it be replaced. Upon not visit to the dealer, i asked them to check it out and they said everything was fine except the steering damper was bad. I had the replace the steering damper. I am still getting a shaking vibration at freeway speeds while hitting a bump in the road. it is not as severe but it definitely shakes the steering wheel and the vehicle enough to be concerned that something is wrong with the suspension. If you search DEATH WOBBLE you will find the exact condition i am experiencing. Jeep says everything is okay with the vehicle and yet I am still experiencing a vibration. my warranty expires 5/29/25. thank you [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was almost killed when my Jeep did the death wobble at 70 mph on the freeway. It violently shook out of control while I was in the fast lane of the freeway without warning. I had no control over the steering wheel, and it was pulling me towards the freeway wall. Slowing the car down was very difficult because it was jerking around so violently. I got off the freeway very slowly with my hazards on. A pickup truck followed me off the freeway to make sure I was ok. He said the tires were going crazy, and everybody saw it. It was an 18 wheeler next to me, and I could have died. I only have abt 30,000 miles. Now I’m selling it, because I’m terrified. I live in Michigan, if there was snow or ice it definitely would have been tragic. It’s in the shop under warranty, but jeep dealership telegraph rd in Southfield said something was bent and it was my fault why it went out of control. But whatever is bent, got bent from the violent shaking. I didn’t even hit anything. This happened on Thursday on the way to work, when I first got on the freeway it shook a little, and I was getting ready to pull over, then it stopped. 5 mins later that’s when the death wobble occurred. I took it to Jeep around a year ago when it was shaking. They said it didn’t do it, and nothing was wrong.

The car did say it detected a crash but no air bags deployed after the telephone being straight in the middle. The car was totaled. Nothing appeared. No warning signs. I believe the car has been taken to salvage. If I had the air bags go off I would not have been hurt as bad with my neck back and arm pain. It was thrown violently

I received a safety warning about my air bags specifically via my Jeep app on my iPhone about 1 1/2 hours after I had been rear-ended in a motor vehicle accident. The rear-end impact pushed me into a van in front of me. The safety notice notified me to take my 2022 Jeep in to have the air bags checked. There were no prior warnings. I am concerned as to whether or not the air bags should have employed upon impact. My seatbelt did totally lock into place after impact, but the air bags did not activate. My vehicle is currently still being repaired at a collision service, per the direction of my auto insurance carrier.

My vehicle is currently still being repaired at a collision service, per the direction of my auto insurance carrier.

See attached document for complaint. Excerpt from attachment: I received a letter from the FCA FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES an according to the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety act that letter stated: "FCA US LLC had decided that certain 2022 Jeep Wrangler vehicle equipped with a 3.5" Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) failed to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVS) No.101-Controls and displays" Safety recall 30B/NHTSA 24V -652 February 2025 I called the FCA Recall Assistance center at 1-800-853-1403. The agent told me the part was available. So, I made an appointment through them and to brought my Jeep into the San Diego Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram San Diego, CA, but about an hour later I received a phone call the "mechanics" said that they did not have the part(s) for this issue to be repaired. We went back to retrieve my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sport Sand was told that they could keep the car due to needing the latest mileage on my Jeep, before they even could order the parts or whatever to fix it. Note my instrumental panel seem to be working fine. But According to that Jeep "mechanic" it still had to be replaced. I can't afford to leave my Jeep there waiting for some part(s) to be ordered. The mechanics can't say when the parts would be available for the repair to be done. It could be a week, it could be a month, it could be a year, they can't say. But they never told me if they are ordering any parts without keeping my Jeep there gathering dust waiting for something to happen. The "mechanics" aren't going to charge me, that is what they said. But the part about not getting it done in a reasonable time due to not having the parts and wanting me to leave the Jeep there to what? Gather dust? The instrument cluster is not working. On March 25 2025 during driving the cluster started to malfunction by turning on and off and then few seconds later it was off. Once the cluster is off there is no visual assessment of how fast the car is moving, any alarms, temperature, fuel gauge, non of the gauges work. Took car to an electrical car repair shop since this is a safety issue and they found that there was a cluster recall on 2022 wrangler sport jeeps so no repairs was done to the car. The dealer was called and under the VIN inquiry I was informed that there was no instrument cluster recall. My question is since there is evidence in several www literature of Jeep Wrangler recalls due to instrument cluster why then our instrument cluster not part of a recall

Vehicle Make/Model/Year: 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Component Affected: Steering / Suspension or wheels not sure Mileage at First Incident: 30000 approx Odometer Now: 33150 approx Complaint Summary: My 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has experienced repeated incidents of "death wobble" and uncontrolable shake , where the steering wheel shakes violently and the vehicle becomes difficult to control. Both my husband and I have experienced this issue multiple times, often after hitting small bumps or uneven pavement also in the highway when at speeds over 60 mph. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice, ( this is after "fixing this issue twice supposely) explained the issue in detail, and requested a thorough inspection. Despite this, the vehicle was returned to us both times with no resolution, and the dealership stated they could not recreate the issue. We later confirmed with Jeep Customer Care that the service center did not open a STAR case as requested, and the original case was closed without resolution. This issue is intermittent, which is well-known with death wobble cases, yet no action has been taken to investigate or repair the root cause. This raises serious concerns about driver and passenger safety. The issue is ongoing, and we have now had to reopen the case with Jeep and escalate the matter ourselves. We have also discovered inconsistencies with other service claims. For example, the dealership claimed the battery was replaced during a previous visit, yet the physical battery under the seat has a sticker showing the same manufacturing date as the original, raising doubts that it was actually replaced. This is a dangerous, unresolved issue affecting the safety of our vehicle, and we are seeking accountability and formal investigation through the proper channels.

My 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4xe vehicle is unsafe, and I fear driving it could cause death or serious bodily injury. The vehicle turns off intermittently and displays "service electrical charging system." The 4xe recalls 95B/NHTSA 24V-720 and especially, recall ZB7/NHTSA 22V-865 have not been properly repaired and completely resolved. This is a serious and potentially dangerous defect. This Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe unexpectedly turns off while driving, it has turned off on me while driving on the freeway, regular streets and has left me stranded in dangerous predicaments. Starting the vehicle is also unpredictable, sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not. This is especially terrifying when it spontaneously shut off while driving. I no longer can safely operate this vehicle without placing myself, my family and others in peril, and as a result I have had to purchase a new vehicle. Vehicle engine shuts down condition caused by diagnostic reactions to faults caused by loss of communication. Recall ZB7/NHTSA 22V-865 is still occurring to my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4xe, an engine shut down condition results in an unexpected loss of motive power while driving, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

I brought my jeep in for the 95B recall this past December (12/17/24), it was fixed for about a week then problems with the electric system emerged and the vehicle would not run in electric mode. I also received messages saying that an oil change was required (despite having an oil change done in December), and that the battery needed to be charged for maintenance (despite the battery being fully charged the previous evening). I brought it back to dealer (2/3/25) to fix the issue. They said they fixed it and gave it back to me. A few days later the same problems reappeared so I brought it back on 2/22/25 and just received word that they cannot find a solution to the problems despite working with tech advisors from other dealerships and Stellantis. In short, I have had the same issues with the vehicle since about November, they have attempted to fix it 3 times and now are telling me that they do not have a fix for the problems. Please help!

Greetings, About a year ago I started experiencing shaking while driving in the car usually when driving above 60 miles per hour. It felt like the wheels were shaking and wobble for few seconds but would stop. When I mentioned this to the dealership service rep, he said that this is normal and would go away. It did not and got progressively worse. It would shake for about a minute violently and almost cause an accident in the freeway where I almost lost control. I immediately took it to the dealership, and they ended up replacing the steering dampener. They actually replaced it twice since the one they changed with the first time was problematic as well. The rep at the time mentioned that he is astonished that there hasn't been a recall on this yet as they've received numerous calls. Well about few weeks ago, the car started doing the same thing again and this morning it was really bad again and my wife almost lost control. I am taking it back to the dealership next week to see what they can do but this appears to be a chronic problem. I have seen hundreds of people complaining about the same issue online with 2021 and later Jeeps Wranglers.

Our Jeep has the Death Wobble and its been to the dealership twice. First trip, they had us replace the front shocks and the steering stabilizer/damper. Did not help at all. Now they are saying we should try a Tru-Center Stabilizer, by looking on the web, they think that will fix it. Really don't want or think we should have to keep tossing parts and money into this, hoping it might fix it. Right now we are afraid to drive it on the interstate. Its starts to shake so bad when we switch lanes on the interstate, it almost makes you want to hit the brakes. Traveling on an interstate is not a safe place to hit the brakes to stop the wobble or a place to have a car go out of control. Jeep is a 2022 Wrangler unlimited with 44000 miles on it. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

We have 2 2022 Jeep vehicles with the EcoDiesel engines in them (a Gladiator and Wrangler) that we purchased in 2022. I am filing a case for each of them on this site. In April 2023 there was a recall of the fuel pump on the 3.0 EcoDiesel and to date the problem has not been rectified for either of my vehicles. We have made notification to the dealership that we want to get this done but they say they do not have the parts in stock to do it. The dealership said they only get 1 fuel pump a month to replace and we are waiting and have been waiting for about a year since we notified the dealership for this safety issue to be rectified. I am filing this complaint as directed by the NHTSA website because I feel this issue has not been handled in a timely fashion and I believe that it is irresponsible of Jeep to not rectify this in a much quicker fashion. Each time we call the dealership we are told they do not know when it will be rectified.

The dealership had the vehicle for almost 40 days and replaced the high-voltage battery pack. About 50 miles after the car was returned, the check engine light came on. I was almost home when this happened and had the 4XE towed for the third time. The safety of any other vehicle around a 4XE is at risk. They can shut down and go into limp mode without warning, with or without the recalls being complied with. The only reason I did not have a significant accident was my training as a commercial airline pilot and dealing with simulated emergencies.

Made it to stop light, stopped, Jeep did not cut off but showed an alarm where it would not move until it was put in park then back in drive. This happened 4 times then stopped. I turned off of the highway onto a different road, got up to speed (approx 60mph) the ESC warning came back on and went off. Jeep did not cut off but it jerked a few times then the RPMs shot up to around 9 without me pressing the gas. I was able to pull over, cut it off and sit for a min. then I cranked it back up and it ran fine for about 5 miles then going about 60mph it lunged forward with no speed increase, RPMs shot up again and a Transmission code came up on the dash screen. I pulled over, my husband came and we put it on a trailer and carried it home. Ran diagnostics and changed both the main and auxiliary battery and it was fine for about a month. I went to run errands about a month later, got in and all the electrical would come on but it would not crank and all the gears on the shifter showed in orange and blinked instead of orange and white like normal. The electrical would not cut off without unhooking both batteries. Tested batteries, auxiliary was completely dead. Replaced it, Jeep still would not crank and the electrical stayed on unless the batteries were disconnected. Trailered it to the dealership, they did multiple tests to find out it was the TCM. On checking the Jeep I noticed that the inside of the cabin was filling with smoke. I immediately called 911 and as I was on the phone with them the Jeep spontaneously burst into flames on the inside. The Fire department arrived shortly after. They began flooding the jeep with water and had to drag it out of our car port. Once they had it away from the house the continued to flush it with water and also placed a fire retardant blanket over the top of it to contain the fire. It continued to burn for several more hours until a tow truck arrived to take it to a yard. The fire truck had to follow the Tow as the car was still smoldering as they loaded it. According to the fire marshals' initial assessment he believed the fire was started from the Jeeps Lithium Ion battery. * It is believed to be the Lithium Ion Battery. It has a recall and I had the recall scheduled for 1/9/2025 but it caught fire on [XXX]. The Jeep is with Progressive my insurance company and could possibly be inspected at request. * Luckily we caught it before it was fully engulfed. Jeep did emit noxious fumes while it was on fire and being put out. Our neighbor had to evacuate because of the fumes possibly entering her house. * It has been confirmed by Progressive and they have placed Jeep on notice. * It was inspected by the Ins Co. They are awaiting on the inspector from Jeep. * There were no warning or indications prior to this happening. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

While braking (in hybrid mode, with max regen braking on), the car begins to lurch forward with significant force as it comes to a stop. This seems to be an issue with max regen, as acceleration and braking is overall much smoother with the feature off. This has happened sometimes before, but is difficult to replicate on demand. No warning lights on dash, and has not been confirmed by a dealer. There were no warning lights or messages, and has happened since purchase of the vehicle in June 2022. This instance was so severe that the vehicle almost crashed into the house, as i was pulling into the driveway and braking. Upon researching online, others have reported this issue, with some involved in motor vehicle crashes because of it. Clearly a safety issue that requires attention.

The exhaust system is ran underneath the gas tank . I am concerned that if I’m involved in a rear end accident that it may cause an explosion such as what has happened to previous jeeps that had the exhaust system ran underneath the gas tank.

My Jeep began experiencing a death wobble going about 65 mph . When driving at 65 mph and went over a bump on the roadway my vehicle’s steering and suspension began shaking violently and almost caused an accident. Anytime the vehicle was cranked up the throttle was elevated and stayed elevated till for 10 mins and you can not drive for 20 mins because the throttle would stick wide open and unable to lower . The exhaust has a backfire upon acceleration as well. The exhaust system is ran underneath the gas tank which I believe is a hazard . There is a ticking and knocking noise in the engine as well.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I was driving in the middle lane on I96 west when the dashboard lite up fully every light alerting me of every possible thing that needs attention known to man. This isn’t the first time this has happened but it is was the first time on the highway. I attempted to move the steering wheel which wasn’t working-I’m guessing the power steering wasn’t working, I slowly moved to the far right lane and managed to exit the freeway actually “‘manhandling” the steering wheel to make the vehicle turn in either direction. Needless to say I was beyond scared of what was gonna happen next. I made it to a grocery store parking lot and called for towing back to the dealer. This vehicle was just at the dealer the previous week for the dashboard lighting up in the same way but I didn’t drive it anywhere since I couldn’t turn the wheel that time either. The dealer told me it was a fluke and sent me on my way. This vehicle is two yrs old and has only been serviced by the dealer for oil changes and tire rotations. After doing some research, I’ve read that other owners of Jeep wranglers have had similar problems going as far back as 2018! I can’t possibly be the only to report this issue. If I lost control of the vehicle due to power steering issues and sensor/computer failures what would happen to me? Would I be dead? Would I kill other people on the road? How would I ever be able to prove this is the vehicle and not me? This is an issue that needs to be looked at deeper. My vehicle is still at the dealership. It’s only two yrs old and has 40,000 miles. I need someone to look into this problem before something horrible happens to someone. Unfortunately my daughter also has a jeep wrangler and I hope she can stay calm if something like this happens to her on the freeway.

I first encountered the “death wobble” at 18,000 miles. It happened to both me and my husband within a hundred miles of each incident. I took my car in for an oil change and talked to the technician and he said that he could try the fix that Jeep put forth to attempt to fix it, but it never really fixed the issue. Well, it was not that bad and happened infrequently and life moves on. Fast forward to about 30,000 miles, the last month and now the wobble happens any time I’m at speeds over 60 and hit a tiny bump in the road. Last night, it threw me into the lane next to me and if there had been a car there, it would have been terrible accident. I drove home at 50mph on the freeway! It was terrifying. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow and I’ll see what they have to say now. This is so dangerous and scary. It need to be corrected.
