UNKNOWN The display panel on the instrument cluster has went out. There was an open recall for newer models (2022-2024), but my vehicle's year (2020) was not included. After going through multiple forums, and speaking with many dealerships, this has been an on-going issue with multiple Jeep owners.

I see that there are recalls for the center cluster on the dash for jeeps like mine from 2018 through 2022 or 2024 but mine has is not included in that recall however mine is now out According to our mechanic I have a black screen cannot see if I have gas or if my vehicle is overheating, cannot see any of the warning signals. Please advise why my jeep is not included in that recall. Mine is a 2020 jeep wrangler unlimited

Instrument cluster failed. Jeep required me to send them the entire cluster (Vehicle Dash) in order for us to order new part. Submitting the cluster means I do not have access to the manual gages (speed, warning lights, and fuel gage). You also cannot hear your blinker signal or know if your high beams are on or off. You do not know how much gas in your tank and can run out at any given point (I have pictures of police helping as this happen to me; it is dangerous). There is an open file i have with jeep. They are aware of the issue. I told the dealership in Sept of 2024 it was flickering and they said it wasn't doing it when they had it serviced so there was nothing they could do. I took it in to another mechanic in May of 2025 once it was failed completely. Jeep informed my mechanic in May the part would be in. Then they emailed me (once i filed a compliant with their customer service )the part would be in by End of Aug. Now they are saying the End of September (subject to change). I requested a loaner vehicle in order to keep my family safe and they denied my request. The car was bought brand new and cannot be inspected until the dash is replaced. Jeep has old dash and has not provided me with the replacement part (I already paid for). It is dangerous. The reason we are told the part is not available is because many 2020 jeeps are having same issue.

I woke up one morning about 2 months ago, and the dash cluster was not working and has not worked since. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety and the safety of others are put at risk because I am unable to see critical information while driving, such as my speed, fuel level, and any potential engine warning lights. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the problem was confirmed by two different independent mechanics, both of whom stated that I need a new cluster. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or any other party besides the two mechanics. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms before the cluster failed. The failure occurred suddenly.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I own a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and believe my vehicle should be included in recall W35/NHTSA 20V-191 for the VP4 Radio Software, as my backup camera does not turn off when shifting into drive. I must restart my Jeep to resolve the issue. My dealership wants $230 for diagnostics despite knowing the problem, and customer service said they can't help, even though they've opened case #94053204. Why are only some VINs covered? This is a safety concern, and I should not have to pay for diagnosis or repairs.

ENGINE

The contact owned a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at approximately 65 MPH, she noticed a burning odor in the vehicle's cabin, and the sway bar warning light illuminated. The husband looked out of the driver's window and observed fire coming from under the vehicle. While attempting to steer to the side of the road, the front of the vehicle became engulfed in flames. The couple managed to exit the vehicle safely. The contact's husband tried to extinguish the fire, but it continued to engulf more. The fire department arrived and extinguished the blaze. A police report was filed, and the vehicle was towed to a lot. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The failure occurred at 51,000 miles.

My Display Cluster went blank all of a sudden while on a trip with no prior notice and I was unable to see any safety information for my vehicle, how much gas I have left, odometer readings or other important information which are needed to safely drive. I ran out of gas and was unable to get to the side of the road and all most got into an accident. There is a current safety recall for this problem (NHTSA ID Number: 24V652000 Instrument Panel Failure/FMVSS 101) for the JEEP WRANGLER2018-2024 issued on September 5, 2024 for the same problem I am experiencing with my vehicle The problem is for some reason My Vin number is not being included in the recall even though the Vehicle year model & problem matches the recall and the dealership/manufacturer are not honoring the repair needed.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal became inoperable, and the brakes locked up without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brake caliper had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic, where it was later diagnosed with a failed brake hose, but the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact ordered the parts for the repair from the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

The Instrument Cluster Panel has completely failed. The vehicle currently does not have odometer, tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, and other vital engine metrics displayed. Stellantis issued a recall due to poor design of the failed component for a small subset of affected vehicles, but does not include the majority of the vehicle population. Furthermore, the failed component is currently on a national shortage, making it impossible to repair. This is a major safety concern and needs to be investigated.

Component or System That Failed: The instrument cluster on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon failed on February 25, 2025. The dealership confirmed the part was defective and removed it from the vehicle. The failed component is not currently installed, but the dealership retained documentation of the diagnosis and can confirm the failure. Safety Risk: The failure of the instrument cluster renders the vehicle completely inoperable. Without this component, the driver cannot monitor critical safety information such as vehicle speed, warning indicators, or fuel level. Additionally, the extended parts backorder means the vehicle has been disabled for months, leaving me without safe transportation. If this type of failure were to occur while driving, it could result in a sudden loss of critical safety data and increase the risk of an accident. Problem Confirmation: Yes, the problem has been confirmed by the authorized Jeep dealership where the vehicle has remained since February 25, 2025. They diagnosed the instrument cluster as the root cause of the failure. Inspection by Manufacturer or Others: The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by the Jeep dealership. Jeep/Stellantis Customer Care has also been notified and opened Case #93386471, but has not provided a resolution. No inspection by police, insurance, or other third parties has occurred. Warning Lamps, Messages, or Symptoms Prior to Failure: There were no warning lamps, error codes, or prior symptoms before the cluster failed. The failure was sudden, and the instrument cluster stopped functioning entirely on February 25, 2025.

ENGINE

The engine in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sahara suddenly failed and was diagnosed by the dealership as a complete internal failure involving the lifters and camshaft. The dealership explained that this type of failure can spread metal fragments throughout the oil system, requiring a full engine replacement. This creates a serious safety hazard, as the engine can shut down unexpectedly while driving, putting both the driver and others at risk. The issue has been confirmed by the dealership’s technician and shop foreman, and the vehicle has been at the dealer for over a month awaiting a replacement engine, which is currently on national backorder. There were no prior warning lights or error messages before the failure. The failure occurred without warning, and the vehicle is not drivable. This problem appears to be affecting multiple Jeep Wrangler owners and may represent a systemic defect that should that should be investigated!

STRUCTURE:BODY

I am reporting significant premature rust on my 2020 Jeep wrangler. The rust is visible on all four doors and the hood. The vehicle has been properly maintained, regularly washed, and has not been exposed to unusual or extreme environmental conditions that would justify this level of corrosion. The rust appears along the bottom edges and seams of each door, as well as along the leading edge of the hood. These areas show bubbling paint and visible oxidation, which is spreading. Given that this vehicle is only five years old, this level of corrosion is unacceptable and inconsistent with the quality and durability expected from Jeep. Warranty Considerations: This issue should be covered under Jeep’s 5-year/unlimited mile corrosion (perforation) warranty and/or the basic corrosion coverage, as the rust appears to originate from beneath the paint along factory seams — suggesting a defect in materials or workmanship, not owner neglect. Action Requested: I am requesting that Jeep/Stellantis authorize a warranty repair to remove the rust, treat the affected panels, and repaint to factory standards to prevent further deterioration. Given the extent of corrosion at this age, I believe this warrants prompt attention and resolution under warranty coverage. This has been a known issue on 2018 to current Jeep Wrangler and they have not resolved the issue. They keep selling Jeep Wrangler with this issue.

The instrument panel cluster stopped working suddenly. It is a 2020 Jeep Wrangler with 72k miles. I know there is a recall NHTSA recall #24V652000 for some Jeep Wranglers 2018 - 2024 for the same issue. Mine needs to be included. I cannot tell how much gas I have, what speed I am going, or warning lamp information. There were no symptoms - it just stopped working while I was driving. The vehicle has been inspected by two vehicle repair/inspection stations and it is not a fuse or the alternator / battery. Therefore - it is the instrument panel cluster (IPC).

Both left and right brake hoses failed internally causing caliper to lock closed. About 2 months ago I noticed upon application of brakes vehicle would pull hard to the right and the left front caliper/rotor brake system remained locked causing overheating to the point on smoking. This was remedied with replacement of hose, caliper and pads. Recently the jeep began pulling hard to the left upon braking, and the right caliper/rotor brake system were overheating due to the right brakes being stuck closed. Repair has not been completed as replacement parts from Chrysler are back ordered. I feel this is unsafe on multiple levels as it affects braking action including antilock brakes, causes premature wear on pads and rotors, and could create a situation where it affects wheel bearings and other nearby components.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I am the owner of a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL with the 2.0L turbo engine, and I am writing to report a fuel leak issue that I believe is related to Recall Y10 / NHTSA Campaign 21V-665, which involves the high-pressure fuel supply line (Part #68297642AD). My vehicle is experiencing a strong fuel smell and visible fuel leak, and a technician confirmed the failure of the fuel line. However, my VIN does not currently show as included in the recall, and I have been told the repair is not covered under warranty. Given that my Jeep has the same engine, same part number, and identical symptoms described in the official recall — I’m requesting one of the following: That the dealer be allowed to inspect the fuel line’s date code and replace it under Recall Y10 if it falls within the affected range, or That Jeep/Stellantis cover the cost of the repair as a goodwill safety-related assistance, since the failure occurred outside the normal warranty but is consistent with the recall defect. I take safety very seriously, and I hope Jeep does too. Please let me know what documentation or diagnostics you need from my service provider to support this request.

ENGINE

Had to take my 2020 wrangler in to have accessory battery replaced as it had drained my newly purchased battery and my car wouldn’t start. Repair shop replaced both batteries and about a week later the check engine light came on for about 2 minutes then went off so I chalked it up to the battery replacement. It didn’t come back on again until about 3 weeks later when I started feeling a slip when going in to second gear. When I got home after having that issue I noticed a small collection of what looked to me like transmission fluid on my garage floor so I had the car towed to the repair shop again. They informed me that engine oil was mixing with coolant due to a bad oil cooler. Between that diagnosis and my car completely breaking down and cracking my engine block the car was driven a total of 14 miles at the most. There was never any other signs prior to me taking it to the shop that the oil cooler had gone bad and even when they replaced the batteries no codes came up for the bad oil cooler and nobody noticed anything while working in the area. . Since then I have learned that this has been an ongoing issue with the wrangler since at least 2012 models and there has been several class action suits that were settled out of court I’m assuming so they don’t have to spend the money recalling and repairing every affected vehicle and finding a fix for future models. Meanwhile I have only had my car for 2 years as of last week and now am being charged $15000 $8000 of which I have to pay up front to even find out how long the parts needed will be on back order. Could be a week could be a year. Not to mention that I have no car to drive and a car payment to make while I wait. This needs to be fixed as these cars are overheating out of nowhere and shutting down when it does. It’s a safety issue as well as a consumer issue.

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, there was an abnormal fuel burning odor coming from the engine and entering the vehicle through the A/C vents. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the fuel supply line was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V665000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

STEERING

I was pulling into work when my dash lit up with all warning lights, I was unable to shut my vehicle off. I had to disconnect the battery to do so. After a couple hours of being disconnected, it operated normal. Few hours later, went to leave a store and it lit up again, this time my steering was nonfunctional. The common issue was the can buss connector. For several years this has been an issue, apparently a TSB was placed but I am unable to find it. This should be a national recall. This part controls literally every electrical component of this vehicle. It's I intermittent and unknown to when it will malfunction. This creates a huge hazard to driving as when it does malfunction, you're unable to steer, your vehicle can shut off, it's not safe at all. Then come to find that the part isn't even covered as a replacement on the TSB. There is no reason this part should not be recalled, how does a small plastic block become defective other than poor craftsmanship? When the vehicle can't communicate to the other parts (engine, transmission, steering, fuel system, etc) that is a huge problem and is not worth the risk of death because someone can no longer drive or steer when going 65 mph.

I went back to the Jeep Dealership and they said the next available would about a week later but I would be fine in the meantime. I unfortunately was not fine. I attached screenshots from the video of all the issues that popped up during the incident a few days later. My steering wheel locked up while I was driving. My car came to a complete sudden stop like it automatically went into park while I was driving. Then, the windshield wipers started going by themselves. My gas meter went down to E then back up and down. The car not go into park and it would not turn off by pressing the push start button. I had to call a tow truck because I could not move. It was very scary and extremely unsafe. My car has been at the same Jeep Dealership since then on June 17, 2024 with no updates and no repairs. I have been waiting in limbo. I have contacted higher management and even they have given me no answers.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

The digital instrument cluster (Electronic Vehicle Information Center – EVIC) on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler has failed, and no longer displays critical vehicle information. This includes fuel level, engine and oil temperature, mileage, tire pressure, and other key dashboard data. This failure creates an unsafe driving condition due to the inability to monitor vehicle speed, engine status, or fuel availability. I brought the vehicle to the dealer, and they confirmed the cluster is nonfunctional, but also stated that my VIN is not covered under the existing recall. After extensive research, I discovered hundreds of reports from other Wrangler owners experiencing the same failure in 2018–2021 models, yet Jeep has only issued limited recall coverage, seemingly based on build date rather than known defective components. To make matters worse, no replacement parts are available, either through the dealership or third-party suppliers. I am now left without a fully functioning vehicle and no support or resolution from Jeep or its dealers. This is a widespread and well-documented issue that affects driver safety and should be subject to expanded recall or mandated remedy. I urge NHTSA to investigate why so many similar failures are not covered under existing recalls.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

My vehicle had a rough idling and then flashed an autostart symbol and stated on the dashboard that my autodash has been disabled. Later that day I drove my vehicle again, then the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree and every light was on and my car went limp. I pulled over on the side of the road and let my car stay off thinking it would help. Waited some time and tried to turn it on and it wouldnt turn back on until the 5th attempt. took my vehicle to jeep a few days later where they diagnosed it saying it needs a new ABS control module. However, the control module is on back order with no ETA in sight. There are multiple other people in my exact situation waiting 6+ months for their ABS control module. My car is undriveable as it has no traction control, will go limp, and no ABS system. I have been without my car for a month and they have not provided a loaner. To my research this has been an issue since september of 2023 and has yet to be a recall.

I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler with 42,000 miles on it and the steering damper malfunctioned twice causing my vehicle to shake while on the interstate going about 70 mph. Very unsafe when you are in the middle of traffic going the same mph and have to slow down for the shaking / wobble to stop. I am scared that it will do it again. I’m paying a nice payment each month for my Jeep and I shouldn’t have to worry about a manufactures part malfunctioning on me while driving. I took it to the Jeep dealer and had it repaired right away. I feel like the repair costs should be reimbursed since this is a “known issue” for this model. There were no warning signs for this incident either. Very unsafe and should be taken care of from the manufacturer. Please issue a recall on this VIN to help other Jeep owners from experiencing this problem. VISIBILITY/WIPER

While driving the drivers side sun visor just fell down from the pivot point blocking my vision while in heavy traffic. The Passenger side had done the same thing a few months prior. From looking at the Jeep forums, You tube and Amazon and Ebay it is a common problem on the Jeep Wrangler JL product line. I had to purchase a clip or aftermarket bracket to hold the close to 200 dollar sun visor from falling out. These brackets are rather cheap and inexpensive. This is so common and is a Huge Safety risk. The problem is that the pivot part that mounts the visor into the roof clamp or holding piece is of cheap thin plastic that breaks easily. The other small part that holds it in fails often as well. It is so common that the amount of Vendors on Amazon and Ebay that offer a cheap part to hold it up is huge. Having something that falls into your vision is totally unacceptable and needs to be addressed ASAP/ Thank you for your help!

VISIBILITY/WIPER

While driving at highway speed needed to use the visor as my vision was lost rounding a curve into direct sunlight. Upon pulling visor down it detached from mount (now another total distraction as it was hanging while driving in highway traffic.) Very dangerous! When I researched I found many that have had the same issue.

The situation detailed in document ZD8 is currently impacting my Jeep, as well as an overwhelming number of other Jeeps across the country. It is quite distressing to learn that the part I urgently need—the coolant bottle reservoir—is entirely on backorder. To make matters worse, this particular component is no longer being manufactured. What raises alarms for me is how this scenario can be regarded as acceptable at all. It prompts serious questions regarding the nature of the recall, particularly since it has been classified as voluntary. This classification appears to be quite misleading, given that the issue extends beyond just specific Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs). In reality, the problem has a much broader reach than merely the listed VINs, impacting a wider array of vehicles than is currently being recognized. It is troubling that so many Jeep owners are left without this essential part for their vehicles, beckoning a broader reflection on the accountability of manufacturers when faced with such significant issues. The extensive impact of this situation raises urgent calls for clarity, responsibility, and action to address the needs of affected consumers. This situation not only undermines trust but also highlights the pressing need for the automotive industry to prioritize consumer safety and welfare.

In the document (ZD8), although my VIN does not appear, I have unfortunately encountered the SAME EXACT problem. My Jeep first exhibited this issue back in 2022, and I managed to repair it at that time without being aware of the existing recall. As it stands, my vehicle is now at the dealership again, plagued by the SAME recurring issue. In trying to resolve this, I have tirelessly reached out to every dealership within a 75-mile radius of Katy. However, none of them have the requisite part(s) available in their inventory. To worsen the situation, I have been informed that I would be placed on an exceptionally lengthy waiting list. I strongly urge you to conduct a thorough reevaluation since it's apparent that this issue extends beyond the limited number of VINs currently covered in the document. At one distressing moment, this defect triggered a heart-stopping warning while I was driving on the highway: “Find a safe place to pull over; your vehicle is about to turn off.” Furthermore, this is the second occasion on which I have been compelled to address and replace the same issue. This situation is increasingly untenable, and it's vital that comprehensive action is taken to address this widespread problem rather than limiting focus to just the few VINs listed in file (ZD8).
