AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE-INACTIVE
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured June 16, 2015, to August 14, 2016. In certain crash conditions, the front impact sensor wiring may be pulled until it detaches before a signal can be received by the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC).
Risk: If the ORC module does not receive a signal from the front impact sensor, both frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
2017 JEEP WRANGLER
359 vehicles affected
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2017 Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured November 1, 2016, to November 3, 2016. ABS and Traction Control lights are on. Sometimes Emergency Brake light comes on causing it to go into “limp mode”. This is dangerous for me bc this is my Mail Jeep. I’m driving on roads where the speed limits are sometimes posted at 55mph. Mechanic replaced the rear wheel sensors because the computer indicated that was the problem. Did not fix the problem. The ABS Module has to be replaced and they’re on back order. Forums online have many different people stating they’re having the same problem with JEEP. JEEP parts department stating it could be a year or more before the part comes in and is available.

After dash lights came on, my issue was diagnosed as an ABS module failure by my mechanic. Jeep offers no repair. Options are limited and expensive. I’m driving on 1985 brakes until repaired. I understand this is a problem common to JK models and has been occurring for years.

The clock spring has failed. There is a current recall for the clock spring mechanisms in the 2011-2016 Jeep Wranglers. The vehicle has been inspected by a mechanic who informed me of the recall to begin with. The fuse for the clock spring (along with all the other fuses) are working as normal. There was no warning lights prior to the clock spring failure (however, I've been told that it's normal). The issue arose on 08/07/25. The 'step' button, 'reset' button, channel change paddle, volume change paddle, and the horn don't work. The airbag also might not work (haven't tested it out frankly). The cruise control buttons seem to work however I don't use cruise control in this vehicle. The vehicle is a 2017 RHD Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport.

On May 9, 2025 I was driving down the road and the engine shutdown. I was lucky not to be in much traffic and pulled off the road (no power steering or brakes). Had I been in a left lane on a freeway this is very dangerous and I could have been rear ended. I was just told that a replacement TIPM will not be available until July 9, 2025. This must be failing at a high rate, if it takes almost 2 months to get a new TIPM, and follows 2 or 3 previous recalls by you for the same failure on previous years.

The ABS module was diagnosed as the cause of multiple warning lights appearing on the dashboard, including the ABS light, parking brake light, and traction control light. According to an ASE certified technician, the failure of the ABS module disabled the antilock braking system as well as the cruise control feature. This issue resulted in loss of antilock braking function and reduced overall vehicle safety. The problem was identified and confirmed by a qualified technician. These warning lights first appeared prior to the failure being diagnosed. At this time, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement part is on at least a three-month backorder.

I was traveling down the street in my town going about 40-45 and all of a sudden the dash lights came on and there was no control of the Jeep. I happened to be close to my mechanic shop so we got it there. No one was hurt but there was no warning that the abs module had gone out. I had to have it towed to a Jeep dealership in Topeka. Ks where it still sits 6 weeks later due to Jeep/ Mopar holding it hostage with no resolution to the ABS module shortage. I am being told there are none in production and there is no ETA for production and shipment.

May 14, 2025 Dear NHTSA, I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara, which has only 60,000 miles and has already required several major repairs that raise serious safety concerns. To date, I have had to replace three brake calipers and the emergency brake, at a cost of over $2,500. The calipers were seizing, and the emergency brake would not release properly, both of which posed clear risks while driving. I understand through forums and peer discussions that other owners have faced similar issues. In addition, my vehicle now has an oil leak that will cost over $700 to repair, and the windshield washer fluid hose burst, requiring another replacement. These repeated failures on a relatively low-mileage vehicle suggest underlying quality and reliability issues. I believe these concerns warrant review, particularly the safety-related brake defects. I respectfully ask NHTSA to investigate whether these failures are part of a broader pattern that may justify further scrutiny or a formal recall. Thank you for your attention.

Cruise control was not working. The Jeep would also idle too fast when stopped but not get to the proper speed while driving. ABS brake light was on with code that rear wheel brake sensor was not working. Sensor was replaced but it still doesn't work. C. Harper Jeep garage in Connellsville, PA says the ABS module is bad and not supplying power to the wheel sensors. This part is supposedly on back order with no known time of availability. The fuel injector also needed replaced but not sure what caused that problem. Other 2017 Jeeps had recalls for electrical problems but seems that my vin was not, maybe it should have been!

Vehicle had a DTC P0302 and a misfire at idle. Upon diagnosis cylinder #2 was found to have 80psi compression which is significantly lower than compression in all other cylinders. Cylinder head was found to be bad. This vehicle only has 61,303 miles. There are many owners complaining about the same problem and FCA indicated they fixed the head issues in 2013. They have offered an extended warranty for 2011-2013 vehicle but the issue still exists. The warranty should be expanded to include more year models.

ABS module failed 2 years ago. No traction control, no cruise control, no stability management. This part has been on backorder for 2 years and affects many years. Issue started intermittently about 3 years ago while driving, now the vehicle is extremely unstable in wet conditions. Dealership has diagnosed and said to check back every few months for a solution. Additionally the plastic oil filter housing has been replaced 2 times in 2 years at a cost of $1,200, the second install was covered by parts warranty. Dealers won't install the metal version available on other years that do not have a cracking issue, aftermarket metal versions are available but dealers won't install them.

While Driving ABS, Brake, and Traction Control lights came on simultaneously. Had error codes read and was issuing a C2200 error signifying that ABS control module had failed. Contacted local Dealership to obtain part and was informed by Martin Dodge in Cleveland Texas that the part was not being manufactured because of an engineering issue. Am concerned that this is an issue for all similar vehicles that use the same module and am driving a vehicle without all of its safety features available or even repairable at this time.

My jeep has just started this problem going lower speeds and hitting a bump in the road. All of the sudden my jeep will start to shake violently and will not stop until I slow way down almost to a stop. It is happening approx. 8 to 15 times every day now. I no longer can go even one day without this happening. I believe it is called the death wobble. the shaking is so bad that it has steered me into oncoming traffic twice. I don't even want to drive it anymore and I love my jeep. I am frustrated because i have a 2017 jeep wrangler with a 09/2017 manufacture date and Jeep offered a recall on 2018 and 2019 Jeeps but not mine.
