The engine began sounding like a diesel and pushing the gas pedal made the car surge/lurch. Then, while driving in rush hour traffic, the car went into what I now know is called “limp mode” where I could not accelerate and I received a warning that told me to pull the car over.

I came home shortly before 4pm on [XXX] and plugged in my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe inside of the garage. I closed the door and about 45 minutes later noticed smoke in the yard. We then realized it was coming from inside our own garage and the car engine compartment was on fire and called 911 just before 5pm. The fire department arrived quickly and gained access to the garage. They removed the car from the power source and extinguished the fire. The most damage was seen in the driver's side engine compartment. There was also property damage including smoke and fire damage inside of the garage and to the contents of our garage. The Fire department stayed with us until the tow truck company came to get the car. Two weeks prior to the fire, this car was in for service at the Jeep dealership on Monday [XXX]. The check engine light was on related to cooling for the EV motor. While the check engine light was on, the car would not use the EV mode at times with a warning "Electric Mode Unavailable Cabin Cooling or Heating". This put my family at huge risk; we are lucky that we were home to notice the fire and that no one was hurt in the fire. We are also living with the toxicity of the burn of the lithium ion battery and electric plastic components next to our house, on our property. It caused a huge amount of stress and fear for my children who recently went through 2 evacuations with the Eaton fire. The Jeep is available for inspection. It is being stored at the lot of the tow truck company for inspection by the insurance company and Jeep. The Fire department completed a Fire investigation report. 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe VIN: [XXX] I have driven 4 other 4xe 2024 in the last two months as rental cars and have noticed my jeep is not performing anywhere near the other four, I have driven. Seems like my jeep isn’t tuned correctly or the engine/transmission has an issue. Engine: -When starting and as engine warming up it shakes the care periodically. There are times when it will shake the car as it heats up, rocking the car slightly and you can hear the engine make a weird knocking noise. -This also occurs when in E-Save mode and charging the battery is selected. The engine does not idle smooth all the time and sometimes runs rough then goes back to normal -There does not seem to be much torque Transmission: -The 1st – 3rd gear shift at high RPM times even when barley giving it any gas. -The transmission shifts down into 2nd gear at around 18-20 mph when gradually slowing down in traffic causing the jeep to slow down quickly and throws you forward. If you catch it during its shift (which is longer than any other gear) it will slam into 2nd and then back into 3rd gear. You lose power as it takes several seconds to complete the shifting. -The gear I feel should smoothly shift into and out of 2nd at around 15 mph, like it does in the cars I rented. oDoes the shift timing need to be remapped or reset? Software update: -The software update pushed on the home screen several weeks ago to update the camera, and some other items has caused my gauge cluster to flash a lot when using CarPlay GPS. In stead of the turn by turn on the cluster it flashes. I continues to have issue and causing me to lose power or significantly slow down and not able to accelerate in Atlanta traffic. Something is wrong with this Jeep brand... INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On three occurrences I was driving my vehicle and it suddenly and abruptly stopped in the middle of traffic. The entire vehicle shut down and would not drive or move forward. It was terrifying as on one of the occasions I had my son with me and he was slammed back into the seat. We have reached out to the dealership who insists there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. It is a safety hazard and we are lucky that my family and no one else has been harmed or seriously injured because of these incidents. We don’t know what to do as Jeep is taking no responsibility and we are afraid to drive the vehicle as it is a ticking time bomb. There is a recall for this issue on different year models but the dealer will not acknowledge that there could be any problem. The service light has been on and off intermittently.

I had just left my home and got up to about 20-25 MPH when my Jeep Wrangler Willy’s 4XE suddenly and abruptly came to a full stop causing the tires to lock up as well and screech to a stop then it shut down and I had to restart it. It jolted my upper body and head forward and could’ve been much more dangerous if I were on a busy road or if anyone were driving behind me. I took it to my local dealership and they were able to recreate the issue after driving it and it shut off just as it did for me. They brought it in and seem to have primarily done some software update but didn’t express much confidence in the repair. They just said there were no DCT’s but there was some software updates and that should fix it. They also claimed there were no recalls present on the vehicle which is even more scary. So the only way there fixing this if they even are fixing it is it already happened to you and put you in danger.

Driving down the interstate at 65MPH, vehicle totally failed, all lights came on dash, automatic braking engaged and stopped the vehicle. Towed to dealer. Dealer had for 21 days. Received it back January 9th 2025 and on January 16th, 2025, same exact issue. Driving on battery, vehicle cut out, all lights came on dash, vehicle quickly slowed with auto-braking and left me stranded in the middle of the interstate. it would not restart for 5 minutes. Jeep is back at the dealer now.

Upon reaching about 60 MPH on the freeway, the vehicle suddenly began to shake violently, severely reducing my ability to steer and control the vehicle. After quickly (and dangerously) reducing my speed, it stopped, but it occurred again two more times. I pulled over and turned the car off, did a quick inspection and found nothing out of order. When I resumed my trip, the problem did not occur again. After getting home, I searched the Internet and found out that my Jeep suffered from what is called the "Death Wobble". Apparently, Jeep has known about the problem for years and has not corrected this dangerous and scary defect.
