2023 JEEP RENEGADE Complaints and Recall Information

The 2023 JEEP RENEGADE has 6 complaints and 4 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with oil leaks, screen display problems, and steering malfunctions. Some complaints also mention abnormal engine behavior during acceleration.

Common Issues
  • Oil leaks. The engine continuously leaks oil, causing oil to spread under the vehicle and onto garage floors. Dealers have attempted repairs multiple times without success.
  • Screen display problems. Lettering from the main screen remains visible when backing up, resulting in a burned-in appearance on the backup camera display.
  • Steering wheel pulling. The steering wheel pulls to the right and causes premature tire wear. Dealer diagnosed alignment issues but did not perform repairs to address caster or camber out of range.
  • Engine revving irregularities. Engine revs abnormally during acceleration, as reported alongside screen display issues.

Four recalls affect the 2023 JEEP RENEGADE dealing with seat belt sensors, air bags, and rear lighting systems. These recalls involve vehicle safety systems critical to occupant protection and visibility while backing up.

Recalls
  • Seat belt buckle sensor. NHTSA recall 24V510000 affects 337,128 vehicles including 2023 Jeep Renegade. An improperly connected switch sensor in the front seat belt buckle may prevent the front air bag from deploying as intended, increasing injury risk in a crash. Dealers will repair the connection free of charge. Owner notifications began August 27, 2024. No Do Not Drive advisory issued.
  • Frontal air bags. Included in recall 24V510000, the same defect with the seat belt buckle sensor can affect frontal air bag deployment. The risk and fix are identical to the seat belt issue described above.
  • Bumper reverse light assembly. Recall 24V918000 covers 2,135 vehicles from 2021 to 2023. Incorrect bumper reverse light assembly installation causes noncompliance with FMVSS 108 standards. This may reduce visibility and fail to alert pedestrians and drivers when backing up, increasing crash risk. Dealers will inspect and replace the assembly free of charge. Owner notifications started January 30, 2025. No Do Not Drive advisory issued.
  • Backup lights. Also part of recall 24V918000, the rear exterior lighting defect involves the same assembly issue. Risk and repair procedures remain consistent with the bumper reverse light recall.

Owners facing repeated repairs for oil leaks, steering problems, or unresolved recall issues involving critical safety systems should consider reviewing their rights under state lemon laws. Persistent or unresolved defects affecting safety may qualify for additional remedies.

ENGINE

Engine continuously leaks oil. Oil is all over under carriage. This has been a recurring problem that the dealer has tried to fix. Oil is all over our garage floor.
