What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? While driving, the passenger seat side airbag deployed unexpectedly. I was moving slowly, just starting to cross an intersection after a traffic light turned green, when the airbag in the passenger seat “exploded” without warning. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The sudden loud noise startled me. This caused me to panic while in an active intersection. When I saw the seat airbag deploy, I became extremely concerned that my own seat could also explode, potentially causing injury to my back. The fear and distraction while driving put both my safety and that of surrounding drivers at risk. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. There were no warning lamps, messages, sounds, or any other symptoms before the airbag deployed. The failure occurred suddenly without any prior indication.

The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that a fuse was incorrectly installed by the factory. The dealer performed the repair. The contact stated that after the repair, the hybrid system became inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving on another occasion. The vehicle was towed to the service center; however, the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not in the parking lot. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 13,200.

I started with the 95B recall when car owners were instructed to not plug in their vehicles or park near any other structures for about 4 months until a fix was released. Then my car experienced multiple SERVICE HYBRID SYSYTEM errors. The car physically shut down on two separate occasions, both while I was transporting my child, putting us at extreme risk for an accident. It has been at the dealership since July 2025 with the mechanic receiving a DIGITAL CRASH CODE. His attempts to talk with someone at Jeep/Stelantis have gone unanswered. The vehicle is currently located at the Jeep dealership in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico and is available for inspection upon request.

Backing into a parking space in reverse the vehicle all of a sudden begins to accelerate forward with the gear selector showing "R" illuminated almost causing me to hit 2 cars parked in front of me. After putting the vehicle in park and reverse again i was able to park and then the vehicle gave a "service hybrid system" warning and then stalled out. I had no issues prior to this and it seems the 95B recall had something to do with it as I had this performed a week prior. It has a stored code for " digital input crash " according to the dealer but they said it is deemed safe to drive. I don't think so.

I was driving my Jeep grand Cherokee 2023 at night on the 580 freeway in Northern California. Was traveling about 65 MPH. When the vehicle lost all power. I was barely able to pull off to the right shoulder still was partially in the right most lane. After multiple attempts of Restart the vehicle, it did restart after about 10 minutes. I’ve taken the vehicle in to the nearest dealership on a flatbed truck. It has been there since the beginning of June. Jeep is unable to repair the vehicle sighting a software update needed for the hybrid system that they have not released yet. This problem will apply to any 4XE vehicle by Jeep. Vehicle is not safe to operate on public roads. Jeep does not seem interested in accelerating the fix. I’ve been waiting nearly 3 1/2 months.

This vehicle continues to have electrical issues which effects the drivability. For the current service visit, the vehicle was taken in due to “shut down” or “shudder off” as if the car had completely been downshifted and lost power while in full drive mode causing a driving interruption. This driving interruption causes a concern for safety. As of today, the vehicle has been in the service department for 56 days. Red wrench appears each time with "Service Hybrid System", check engine light. Discussions with service department: "No definitive fix" ..•B273C-00 Meaning: (one of the codes) The code specifically points to an issue with the digital crash input, meaning the vehicle's computer is detecting a "crash" event, even when one hasn't occurred. •4xe Specific: This code is frequently seen on Jeep 4xe models, likely due to the complexity of the hybrid system and its interaction with the ORC.

In February I had the 95b recall completed and a short time afterwards started getting a service hybrid vehicle system light and even a check engine light at one point. One of those instances with the service hybrid vehicle system light my car just turned off while I was driving it with my children in the back seat and cars behind me. I lost all control of the steering and vehicles power except it switched to the accessory. I tried to restart but it would not. I had to come to a complete stop, place in park, turn off the accessory and then restart the vehicle. The vehicle was seen promptly following the incident where I was told to drive it on esave and they would try ordering a part that could possibly be a fix. While waiting for the part the vehicle was seen at another dealership that recommended not replacing that part that there was no issue with the vehicle and to drive it on e save or make sure the battery had a charge while driving in hybrid mode. Which is not a solution. Since then I have had several instances of the service hybrid vehicle system warning lights and that includes while driving it on e save which is gas only. Unfortunately the warning comes and goes quickly while driving so it’s not always easy to take a photo while driving although I do have a few to attach.

I took my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE in last month (July) to have the hybrid battery recall fixed. Since then, i have had the ‘service hybrid electrical vehicle system vehicle system’ with the red wrench pop up at least 3 times but would disappear after 10-15 seconds. Last Thursday (Aug 21), I was on the highway driving 70mph passing a semi when the same message came onto the screen & my vehicle shut completely off. I was able to safely get off the roadway & I turned it & back on & it cleared out. I dropped it off at the dealership this past Monday (Aug 25) & was called today & told the tech can’t get the vehicle to do it so he is unable to pull a code so they’re releasing the vehicle back to me. This is terrifying.

Vehicle started displaying a red wrench icon with the Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System warning on the dash and then brought up the turtle/limp mode and the vehicle would not function. This only started happening after the 95B recall fix was performed on the vehicle. The vehicle is now at the dealership and they have informed me that there will not be a fix to the issue until approx. November of this year. Service Tech scan codes indicate "Digital Crash".

As I was driving in a parking lot, the service hybrid error popped up and then suddenly the vehicle was showing to press brake & hit start button. The vehicle began slowing down and even while pressing the gas the vehicle wouldn’t do anything. I was able to coast into an empty part of the parking lot. The vehicle then wouldn’t go into park. The emergency brake engaged without me doing anything. Then it kept telling me to press brake & hit start button but it wouldn’t do anything. The veg hole seemed to be on. But acted as if it was off. I sat disabled in the parking lot for 5-10 minutes before it would turn back on and let me resume normal activities.

The contact owned a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds in the driveway, there was an abnormal metallic sound coming from underneath the vehicle. After a visual inspection, the contact became aware that an unknown part had detached. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the rear coil spring. The contact was informed that the rear coil spring had detached. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V413000 (Suspension). The VIN was included; however, the vehicle was repaired by the dealer on December 6, 2023, 17 days before the failure occurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 9,000.

My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a persistent, intermittent grinding or rumbling noise during moderate acceleration, most often under load such as going uphill. The noise has been documented over seven service visits and confirmed in writing by two separate Jeep dealerships, yet Jeep claims they cannot replicate it consistently. In 2024, my husband experienced violent jerking during upshifts at highway speeds, forcing him to restart the vehicle to restore normal operation. While that specific event has not repeated, the grinding/drivetrain issue continues, with no warning lights or diagnostic codes. The defect has persisted for more than a year, despite extensive service attempts, and raises serious safety concerns — particularly if the drivetrain locks up or loses power while driving. Jeep has not resolved the issue and is attempting to close my case without a fix. Case No. 93653073 is on file with Jeep/Stellantis Customer Care. Dates of service visits: Repair History 6/12/24 (1 day) – Rhythm Jeep – Unable to replicate 6/19–7/23/24 (35 days) – Rhythm Jeep – Replaced faulty resonator 8/1–8/2/24 (2 days) – Rhythm Jeep – Replaced exhaust assembly 9/21–10/2/24 (12 days) – Rhythm Jeep – PCM update, cam/crank relearn, STAR Case S2309000002; noise confirmed 10/30–11/11/24 (13 days) – Rhythm Jeep – Replaced motor mounts; vibration noted 11/27–12/17/24 (21 days) – Rhythm Jeep – TCM reprogrammed and quick learn 7/12–7/15/25 (4 days) – Freeland Jeep – Transmission tech assigned; grinding confirmed Total days out of service: 88. In February 2025, my jeep would flash a “Service Hybrid System” code that would last about 3-5 seconds and disappear. This happened about 4-5 times over the next few months, code would not stay up and vehicle seemed unaffected. On June 10, I was driving with son on a highway about 60 mph when my car completely shut off, no power to engine, no power steering- absolutely nothing. We experienced a very aggressive jerk when this happened and I limped the vehicle off to the shoulder- we live in a remote area and I had no cell service. I was able to restart my car and drove it in “e-save” mode home. The next day, I drove my car again and had my son and daughter in the vehicle and the same exact thing happened. I was driving about 55mph around a corner with a large semi coming at me in the oncoming lane and my vehicle shut off and lost power and power steering. I was terrified that I would veer into that truck and there was not a shoulder readily available. We had to yet again limp the vehicle a few yards around the corner to pull off and I did not have service. So I had to walk to call my husband to pick my children up. The car has been at the dealership since then and told there is a digital crash code showing with no eta on a fix. Stellantis has denied a buyback yet my car has 26,000 miles on it and is under warranty with no eta on fix. Vehicle is unsafe to drive and unfixable for 60 days now.

I am reporting two major electrical-related failures in my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland that raise serious safety concerns. In February 2025, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete battery failure with no warning. No lights or messages appeared. I was left stranded and had to tow the vehicle. The dealership found that one battery had completely failed and required replacement, while the second battery had to be recharged. No clear cause was identified. This raised concerns about a deeper electrical or charging system issue. On [XXX], the vehicle became completely inoperable again while I was traveling out of state. I was stranded in Iowa and had to tow the vehicle to a certified Jeep dealership. They diagnosed that the wiring harness connectors to the fuel pump were stuck open, causing the connector to overheat and fail. This required full replacement of the wiring harness, which involves dropping the fuel tank. There were no warning lights, messages, or drivability issues prior to the failure. Electrical overheating in a component directly tied to the fuel system poses a serious fire and safety hazard. As of today, the vehicle remains at the dealership, and I have been without transportation since [XXX]. I opened a case with Stellantis, but my case manager has not provided any updates. Stellantis has now told me I must coordinate with the dealership to request goodwill repair assistance, despite the urgency and safety-critical nature of the failure. These are not typical issues for a well-maintained vehicle. I urge NHTSA to investigate this as a potential electrical defect that may pose a broader safety risk to other owners. Was driving at night on a rural highway. Experienced a complete electrical failure - all lights, engine function, power steering and power brakes failed; coasted to the side of the road. ~~I thought that I had just run out of gas, but adding gas did not permit the car to restart. Tow truck could not jump start the vehicle. It was towed to the dealership, where they replaced the regular battery (<20k miles on it), performed the hybrid battery software upgrade (the "recall"), sent me home. Towing and rental coverage were not offered. ~~BTW, I had requested this recall about 3 months previously, but it was "not available" yet. ~~The vehicle continued to stutter intermittently, concomitantly flashing the "service hybrid battery light." I took it back to the dealership. They ran tests, inspected it for unwarranted damage, cleared out the codes, and sent it home. ~~Another 2 months of the same incidents, sometimes with a "refuse to start in the morning" altogether aggravation. I grew increasingly concerned for my safety and the safety of others on the highway. Obviously, this problem wasn't going to go away with just ignoring it and hoping for the best. ~~I contacted the dealership to bring it in for service again; they refused to even entertain the idea of providing me with a rental until they could fix it, even knowing that it's clearly a warranty issue. I took it to a different Jeep dealership, somewhat distant from my home but actually the dealership from which I had purchased it online. They were so kind, got me into a rental and promised to look into it. They got in contact with the manufacturer quickly. Jeep engineering department admitted they can't fix it. 6 weeks later, they still haven't fixed it, I'm paying almost $3000/m for pmt& insurance for a car that's unsafe to drive, but the corporation hasn't offered me any options to get out of a lease.

A known issue by jeep affecting many Grand Cherokee PHEV Hybrids, all following the 95 B recall. The recall repair 95 B is attributed to be causing Red Flag Dashboard Warnings to "service hybrid system". Dealer computer scans document these incidents as a "Digital Crash" of the vehicle's onboard computer. Multiple incidents for me have been transitory but for others, these digital crashes are causing engine shut downs on the highway -- see the attachments for 4 such cases downloaded from the Jeep website. Obviously crazy things can happen when a car's computer shuts down while driving -- no one knows if my next Digital Crash could shut down my engine when I am in a multi-car passing situation on a 2 lane highway at 70 MPH and yet that scenario is happening to others. I have seen 3 jeep dealers and have documentation on those digital scans for my vehicle-- Jeep is aware of the problem but they have no-fix. There are over 500 complaints on the public jeep 4xe website across multiple conversation threads of people having this exact problem. You can see from the attachment that the dealers are telling owners that the cars are 'unsafe to drive' because they do recognize that the next digital crash of the computer will be a fatal accident. None of these problems existed before that recall was available in January. Something in that NHTSA 95 B recall for the Grand Cherokee PHEV was defective and is causing these digital crashes -- jeep does not dispute that, at least from what I have been told. Jeep has to be required to do another recall to fix the earlier 95 B recall. It has been close to 6 months now without a fix and nothing is happening. It is probably a software fix, but it needs to be done and at this point it appears that they must be forced to do so by NHTSA. Please see the 4 attachments of what others have encountered. < on your below questions -- Multiple incidents, multiple dates, multiple speeds for me>

It happened on my driveway the other day and I would not drive. I had Jeep roadside tow it to a Jeep service center. On 7/9/2025 I picked up the Jeep. Service tec said no open recalls, no software updates and the throttle body module was reprogrammed. A 14-mile test drive was done and the codes did not return. Shortly after pickup, while driving at 65 MPH on the thruway, I got the same error message, Service throttle control along with a check engine light and all warning lights again lit up. The Jeep displayed a reduced power warning, and many other warning but I didn’t have time to look at the dashboard. The vehicle slowed to a crawl in limp mode at 23 MPH, the steering became very heavy and slow to respond. I was able to quickly move over to the shoulder, and I was almost rear ended by a tracker trailer. I got off the thruway, shut the engine off, then back on and was able to get full power back. Only recourse is to move off to the side of the road, shut everything down and turn it back on. The batteries show two miles left on the electric system. This is the second occurrence. Both have occurred at highway speed.

My Jeep has been a consistent problem. The vehicle gives many warning and "service powertrain" warnings in the dashboard. Additionally, at the same time as the warnings, the vehicle will lurch - slowing down significantly and making passengers in the vehicle panic. I have gone to the dealer to already fix not 1 but 5, yes FIVE, recalls related to the powertrain system. This last visit (today) I was told that Stellantis acknowledges the issue, but does not have a fix. This vehicle was clearly not ready for production and Stellantis needs to be held accountable to it's customers.

When my plug-in hybrid vehicle’s service engine light came on, an authorized Jeep Dealership diagnosed and fixed the electric coolant heater then also performed a software up to address the recall 95B/NHTSA 24V-720. In less than 2 weeks, my vehicle flagged a hybrid system error code “B273C.” The Jeep dealership immediately impounded my vehicle per the regional Stellantis technical team’s orders. My vehicle has been held at the dealership for over a month with no repairs or timeline for when a repair will be available. It’s unacceptable for a custom built fully paid off vehicle (2023 JGC 4xe Summit) to become such a huge liability and poorly reflects on the Jeep/Stellantis brand. There has been no support from their case management team and no urgency/ timeline provided for when this issue will be resolved. When manufacturing defects result in making a vehicle un-driveable, the manufacturer should prioritize finding a solution and provide customers with a rental of equitable quality to ensure the Jeep brand experience is maintained. Most importantly, for a vehicle that is only 2 years old, it is concerning from a safety perspective that it has had so many issues with the hybrid system for which the manufacturer has no solutions available.

The vehicle is a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUV. While driving in heavy traffic on a 45 mph road, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion, with the dash lighting up with a large "Service Hybrid System" warning. After several seconds of no response, with traffic trying to work its way around my stalled SUV, the vehicle began to move again, albeit very slowly, just enough to limp it to a side street. After another 30 seconds or so, the problem cleared itself and the vehicle returned to a normal state of propulsion. I took the car to the dealer where I left it for more than a week. Apparently this is a known issue, and a code appeared (B273C-00, Digital Crash Input), but they were not able to replicate the issue while they had the vehicle and so they just reset the code. The automaker is also aware of this problem, but doesn't deem it severe enough to issue a warning to customers or provide alternative transportation while a fix is developed. The dealer's advice is to let them know when it happens again. At this point, I don't feel the vehicle is safe to drive, and it will remain parked until a fix is available.

The “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System” has been coming on intermittently for several months. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced a wiring harness. That did not fix the issue. The light continues to come on and Jeep technicians have no idea how to fix the issue. Today the light came on and the vehicle stalled and lost propulsion for about 3 seconds and then lurched hard forward as the power returned to the engine. This issue is widespread across social media yet Jeep has done nothing to remedy it. This is a major safety issue, especially with the unexpected lurching forward of the vehicle.

BELOW IS THE LETTER I SENT TO STELLANTIS. I am writing to file an urgent and formal complaint regarding ongoing, severe safety and functionality issues with my Jeep 4xe , leased through Stellantis Financial. These issues have not only rendered the vehicle unreliable, but they have also endangered my life, the lives of my children, and the public-particularly as I work in an elementary school setting where safety is paramount. Most alarmingly, my Jeep 4xe recently reversed on its own at an accelerated speed without input, and would not stop until I prompted the brakes repeatedly. Had a child or pedestrian been behind the vehicle, the incident could've resulted in severe injury or death. As a parent and educator, this experience was traumatizing and has left me fearful of operating the vehicle in any public or residential space. Additionally, my vehicle frequently enters "turtle mode" (reduced power mode) without warning, significantly increasing my risk of being rear- ended in traffic. This unpredictability is unacceptable for any vehicle-especially one marked as a safe, family-friendly hybrid. These critical safety failures began shortly after the recall involving the vehicle's battery. Since then I've experienced: *Multiple simultaneous sensor malfunctions *Reduced driving speeds and performance *Inability to charge the vehicle on a professionally installed Level 2 charger *Recurring shop visits without permanent resolution While earlier issues were inconvenient, they pale in comparison to the dangerous and erratic behavior of the vehicle now. Despite repeated attempts by service technicians to address these problems, each "fix" is followed by a new or recurring issue. This pattern shows that the vehicle is fundamentally flawed and no longer safe to operate.

While driving at approximately 20 - 35 mph, the passenger side rear suspension coil spring fell off. When that happened, the vehicle sank on that side (rear, right side) and the coil spring and spring pad components projected outwards with force towards the road side. No dash lights were activated but, vehicle was exhibiting an unstable (bouncy) driving condition. The vehicle was towed to authorized service center for repairs and a claim was initiated with the manufacturer out of abundance of caution since the event has a resemblance to NHTSA Recall No. 23V-413 (JUN, 2023) and Safety Recall Notice 64A. Said Recall appears on the manufacturer's website as completed for this vehicle.

Driving in [XXX] in the HOV lanes on the evening of 22 June, the car traveled over an uneven section of the road. Heard a noise and felt the car go over a small bump. Car ride felt slightly different and continued on to home. Next day, looked at cat and the rear end was sitting uneven. Right rear lower than left rear. Looked under the rear of the car and saw the right rear coil spring was not there. The left rear spring is still in place. Prior to this, there was no problem with the ride or suspension of the car. There are no warning lights on the dash currently or prior to the spring falling off the car. I am not driving the car to to what I consider an unsafe condition. I am making an appointment at the dealer to get the problem resolved. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We were driving our 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and pulled into a parking lot and put the vehicle in Park. At this point the vehicle started flashing the battery light and would not turn off nor were we able to put the vehicle in drive. Essentially the entire vehicle was just sitting and running, but was inoperable and we were unable to shut the vehicle off. We left the vehicle running and walked away with our key fobs, but the vehicle would still not shut off. It's a safety issue to have a vehicle running and not be able to put it inn drive or turn it off. We had to call a flat bed tow truck. The vehicle is currently at the dealer and they are not sure what is wrong with it. The warning lamp that came on was the red battery light and Auto Emergency Braking - Active Braking On was flashing across the screen, but the vehicle wasn't engaged in driving. We have the fob information from when we dropped the vehicle off, but nothing has been confirmed.

There was a recall for my cars, hybrid electrical system. We were told not to park it in the garage, not to plug it in, etc., for months. That was in the fall of 2024. In December, I had to have my car towed to the dealershipto have regular battery replaced under warranty, and while it was there, Jake Sweeney Jeep, in Cincinnati, allegedly did the recall service. Immediately thereafter, my car started losing power while I was driving, with a message reading, Service hybrid electrical system.“ My car has been back to the dealership four times, I had a Starr case opened with Jeep, and was told that they are aware of the problem, don’t know when it will be fixed, and that I should take the car back home. It has happened when I was driving 65 mph on a highway, complete loss of power, I had to limp over to the shoulder, then back to the dealership. The codes were red, and the technicians said they were aware of it, but had no fix for it. They said they even had some units for sale on their lot with the exact same problem. At this time, Jeep is saying they do not know when They will have a fix for this on the hybrid vehicles. This seems very unsafe to me, because it happens, intermittently, at all different speeds.

My windshield has small bubbles in the laminate layer between the glass. It is only noticeable in the early morning and sunset when the sun shines directly through the glass windshield. The safety concern is at night when it is raining. When an oncoming car headlights come through the glass it is impossible to see the road. I have to slow down considerably. Hopefully the road is straight at this point because I cannot see the road. At first I thought my windshield was just dirty. After cleaning the windshield many times the issue did not go away.

The vehicle has been regularly throwing an error saying Service Hybrid System and having a massive stutter in power while the hybrid motor shuts off and the engine is started to try and take over immediately. The vehicle has been in the shop for this previously, only to be returned to me saying they don’t have a fix for the problem and to continue to drive it. This happened again at highway speed and caused a near immediate loss of 10-15 miles per hour and were it not for evasive driving on my part and the other car, would have caused an accident. This powertrain has major issues that continue to happen.

This vehicle has now been in service 3 times for related issues. "Service Hybrid Electric System" is now popping up. It happened on the highway and it jerked like it was changing gears and reducing speed before "restarting" itself. This has now happened numerous times. This is an unsafe family vehicle. Jeep has refused to buy it back and only recommending to take it back to the dealer and I have to pay for rentals. 2 weeks after purchasing the car, it left me and my family stranded in -10 degree weather in the winter. The entire system shut off. Car had to be towed to the dealer and it took weeks to get resolved. Then comes the 95B recall. Again, took over a week to get fixed. Had to pay again for a rental and wait to get reimbursed. Now this issue.

While driving I received a pop-up message on the head unit advertising Sirius XM. I had to clear this pop-up message while driving in order to continue using my map. I need to be very clear that I was driving at speed with a navigation route set and the map was obstructed by an advertisement that I had to touch the screen with one hand left on the wheel to click a pop-up ad. This was not a message from any attached devices. This was a system message from the infotainment unit.

Various vehicle systems fail to operate. Power steering may not work, parts of the powertrain may fail to operate. The vehicle has a code B273C-00 which Stellantis says their engineers are aware of but have no fix nor any timeline for a fix. This can rendee the vehicle inoperable or dangerous to drive as there is no knowing which vehicle systems will fail. This is an ongoing problem, not a one time event.

Picked up vehicle on Monday with previous reported issue unfixed. They couldnt find the fault code that appeared on the screen and made a different fix. Tuesday, drove the car about 10-12 miles. Was stopped at a stop light with my foot on the brake. A sudden huge jolt and the car stops, the red wrench and battery warning appear. I drove to the dealership and reported the incident. The vehicle is there, they say there is no "fault" signal. This is an ongoing issue with my jeep, I have filed several reports.

When accelerating at highway speeds there is a significant power lag when the vehicle switches from between the internal combustion engine (ICE) and the electric motor causing deceleration in the vehicle. This is typically followed by a sudden surge in power causing rapid acceleration. This causes unpredictable speed and makes merging onto highway traffic difficult. When this issue occurs the "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warning lights illuminates. After several miles, the warning will turn off, but this occurs off and on when changing lanes, merging, or braking in heavy traffic. This typically only occurs at highway speeds when the vehicles transfers between ICE and Electric power frequently and has not been observed at normal city street speeds. The sporadic acceleration performance makes this vehicle dangerous to drive at highway speeds unless the electric motor is turn off. The car has been returned to the dealership numerous times to address this issue as it is still covered under warranty. However, they have informed us that "The code present in the car is currently under investigation by Chrysler. The Chrysler representative told us not to change any parts until Chrysler makes a decision on a potential recall." Despite repeated calls with Stellantis / Jeep customer service who promised us to expedite parts to the dealership for resolution, we are stil left driving this unsafe vehicle. This problem arose within 48 hours of the battery recall maintenance being performed and has been recurring ever since the repair.

We leased a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe in June 2023, and since that time the vehicle has been a chronic source of mechanical and electrical failure. Over the past two years, it has been in for service 11 times, spending more than 115 total days in the shop, with at least 9 repeat issues—largely related to high-voltage interference and hybrid system instability, from our research. The problems began before we ever took possession, with a service record at just 12 miles on the odometer showing a repair to the Integrated Dual Charging Module (1890169A). Since then, we've experienced a cascade of issues affecting sensors, control modules, cameras, switches, and critical vehicle systems—many of which appear to stem from electromagnetic interference (EMI) related to the hybrid platform. Key repairs have included: Park Assist and ADAS control modules (09/28/23) Reprogramming of multiple modules (backup camera, backup sensors) (01/25/24) Backup view camera replacement (02/16/24) Fuel system pump and lighting issues (04/05/24) High-voltage recall 95B, battery coolant pump, wiring harness, battery fire risk & issue (01/30–04/01/25) The final straw came on 05/09/2025, when—while driving 70 mph on the freeway—the vehicle suddenly shut off without warning. We lost all acceleration and power, forcing us to drift to the shoulder in traffic. It took multiple restart attempts and a wait period before the vehicle became responsive again. This was not only terrifying—it was dangerous. The next day, the Jeep dealer where the vehicle was purchased, picked up our car, and we’ve received no update on its status. It is currently undrivable, and we fear it’s unsafe. We previously filed for arbitration for with NCDS (March 2023), which was denied. The situation has deteriorated significantly since then, and we are now filing a second arbitration, alongside this formal NHTSA safety complaint. Certified letters sent to the manufacturer earlier this year have gone unanswered.

On the highway from Chicago to Boston while driving 70 MPH my car had LOST ALL power. I was barely able to get car from left lane to right side of road. Truck almost hit us. We immediately reported incident to our dealership and their response was “we have nothing but problems bring the car in”. We were 300 miles away and they said there was nothing they can do. I restarted car and appeared normal. On way home outside Chicago on Highway at high speed we lost all power AGAIN. Started back up and returned home and called Field dealership in Glenview and Chrysler corporate. We brought Car in and they have had it for week with no solution or phone call.

Monday 4/28, as i was driving at approx. 35-38 mph the vehicle came to an abrupt and hard stop, like someone just pounded on the brakes, the engine ceased running. A large red wrench looking icon and something about the battery flashed very quickly on the screen. After a matter of time (please note this was very frightening,, and am unsure of the elapsed time) the car restarted and I continued very slowly to a corner where I could pull off the road and contact the dealership. At the rate of speed I was traveling I was forcefully slammed into the steering wheel, there were cars behind me and in the adjacent lane. My dog in the rear compartment and in her kennel was also forcefully thrown. This vehicle has had on going battery issues and many others as well. This is not the first report I have filed. Vehicle has been at the dealership for one week, I had to insist upon a loaner which they could not provide. Jeep has a program for a comparable vehicle which they set up and which has not provided a comparable auto. I have had no word from the dealership as to repair and issue found. The ongoing safety issues with this vehicle and it's battery system are totoally unacceptable for me. The jeep has spent 3.5 months from 10/14-mid 01/15 parked due to fire or explosion possibility. It has been in the shop repeatedly for up to two weeks at a time with heating and cooling issues. This latest is just another in a long stream of problems unaddressed proprerly by the Jeep corporation. As the vehicle is still in the shop at the dealership I have no items to download at this time.

Since purchase the vehicle has had a number of electrical issues. From non functioning automatic mirrors, and memory seating, to blacking out infotainment systems to the bigger recalls. Jeep issued a recall notice early October of 2024 for the High Voltage (hybrid) battery. The recall advised customers not to charge the vehicle due to risk of fire. The hybrid feature was the main reason for purchasing this specific vehicle. With my wifes daily commute well withing the batteries capacity we were filling up at the gas station about once a month. Now being unable to charge the vehicle we were filling up more than weekly. This obviously increased the cost of ownership quite a bit. This also greatly decreased the performance of the vehicle as the electric motors provided significantly more power to the underpowered 4 cylinder gas engine. At some point I debated charging the vehicle anyway but being that my home charging area is directly below my [XXX] sons bedroom I ultimately decided against it. Brought the vehicle to the dealer in November of 24 and they refused it as no repair had been released. I tried to stay on top of things, following multiple web forums to have the most up to date information. When I knew that the fix was to be released in the first week of the new year I attempted to get ahead of it and make a service appointment. The dealer would not allow this even though I knew the fix would be available. By the time the “fix” was formally release and I was able to call to make an appointment they were nearly 2 months out from their first available date. After Jeep "fixed" the recall we have been getting intermitent "service hybrid electric vehcle system" warnings on the dash board as well as random losses in power to the engine and or motor. Brought back to dealer where they acknowledged software issue but had no fix available. They determined it was "safe" to dirve and had me take it back. While idling (vehicle running in electric mode) in park, for approximately 10 minutes we attempted to put the car in drive. The vehicle acted as if it needed to be turned on, displaying the message "Press Brake and Push Button to Start" while also displaying a red battery light. Different warning messages came up showing Traffic Sign Assist Unavailable and others. We could not turn the vehicle off even with holding down the start/stop button, were unable to shift the vehicle either. Finally after ten minutes of pressing the start/stop button the vehicle finally shut off and we were able to restart it with no issues. The next week as I was driving, I would randomly get a warning light with a red wrench and a message that said Service Hybrid System. Both instances have happen two additional times. The vehicle is now sitting at the dealership and they are unable to diagnose the problem. This all has occurred after the 95B recall work was completed. This is a safety issue as the vehicle will not shut off and won't shift. So if the vehicle is parked inside of a garage and idles and then doesn't shut off that will lead to carbon monoxide leaking into the houses. Or being stranded somewhere unable to move your vehicle.

A couple months ago our check engine light came on. Through going to the dealership and a local mechanic we found out that it's an electrical issue as well as a safety issue. The wire connections have failed. This led to the grill shutters being forced open and if they close there will be no air going to the engine which will cause the engine to seize and/or a fire, which would lead to an accident and/or death. This isn't a safety recall at this point and this is a very big concern.

Starting at around 12k miles, my odometer started flashing and backup cameras completely stopped working, unable to see while backing up, at the same time the active lane management and auto emergency braking went out as well, took my car into the dealership and was told pam module was not good and covered under manufacturer warranty, even after pam module was replaced, the active lane management and auto emergency braking is still not working

Rear tailgate will periodically just close. When this occurs, it is just after reaching full open. At times it takes extreme force to halt it in its travels. I have brought it to the Jeep dealer but it did not repeat while they were checking it, so they said there is nothing that can be done. I am reporting this in event it is more wide spread, as I picture a child getting hurt by this (needless to say, I do not let my grandchildren near this!)

The jeep will display “power steering unavailable” while driving, causing the steering wheel to lock up and be unable to turn while driving. Then the automatic braking, collision warning, and lane departure will all announce it is unavailable. This has caused us almost to crash multiple times. We took the vehicle to Jeep, they witnessed the power steering fail while driving, and told they can not find any remedy. This has been a daily occurrence since.

Today my steering locked up ,was not driving on the highway but was on my way when the steering said on my screen the loss of power steering .So afraid this will happen again and me driving. Yes it is at dealership now. Had to have it towed. The Vehicle is at dealership .Yes the red steering wheel was on the screen and the loss of steering when I was trying to back out of my carport. So afraid this will happen on the main road in traffic and I or another person will get hurt. Could not even turn the steering when backing out of my carport. Thank you for checking on this. These cars are dangerous when this happens. Bad thing is in all these cars they don’t know how to fix them, cause they can’t find what this problem is.
