SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles. A malfunction in the antilock-brake system (ABS) module may incorrectly illuminate the brake lights and disable the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC). In addition, the vehicle operator may be able to start and shift out of Park without the brake pedal being applied.
Risk: A vehicle that can be started and shifted out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in a vehicle rollaway. Disabled ABS and ESC systems can reduce vehicle handling and control in certain driving situations. Brake lights that incorrectly illuminate can fail to properly indicate the driver's intention to following traffic. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.
Risk: An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Cherokee, 2019-2020 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Renegade and 2019 Dodge Challenger vehicles equipped with 8.4" or 12" radio displays. A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."
Risk: The lingering rearview image can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE)
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with the 3.0L EcoDiesel engines. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. This mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.
Risk: Combustion in the intake manifold can increase the risk of a fire.
2019 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles. The front differential may have been assembled with pinion gears that are insufficiently hardened, which can lead to the gear teeth wearing down. If both pinion gears have their teeth sufficiently worn off, torque power can not be transferred from the front wheels to the driveline, resulting in loss of power while driving and loss of the PARK function when stationary.
Risk: A sudden loss of power while driving or loss of the transmission PARK function can increase the risk of a crash.

Vehicle will all suddenly while driving on the roads with speed, dash will blink and start saying to select the gear. At this point vehicle either has to be put in parking (while trying to figure out where to pull over) and reselect the gear, or completely shut off, re start and select gear in order to drive. When the dash blinks vehicle accelerator just revs the engine, loss of power occurs. This especially happens after a fuel up and you move away from gas station.

I am filing a complaint regarding a serious and widespread defect in the Uconnect 8.4 infotainment system installed in my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and many other FCA/Stellantis vehicles. The screen has developed a delamination issue that worsens over time. Symptoms include glue dripping from the edges of the screen, “ghost taps” where the system responds without being touched, and unresponsive or inaccurate touch inputs. This is not a cosmetic defect. The infotainment system controls multiple functions beyond entertainment, including navigation, Bluetooth phone connectivity, climate control, backup camera, and access to vehicle settings. Malfunctions cause driver distraction and interfere with safe vehicle operation, which could easily lead to an accident. When I contacted Jeep/Chrysler Customer Care, I was informed this is a known issue. My research confirmed that FCA/Stellantis has issued an internal service bulletin acknowledging the defect, but they refuse to issue a formal recall. This appears to be a deliberate decision to avoid the significant cost of replacing defective units across multiple models, leaving many unsafe vehicles on the road. This problem is widespread and well-documented among owners. It is unacceptable that Stellantis treats it only as a service bulletin issue when the defect directly affects safety. Drivers must be able to rely on the infotainment system to respond correctly, especially since it integrates with systems used while driving. A delaminated screen dripping glue and producing ghost inputs is a hazard, not a minor inconvenience. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect and require FCA/Stellantis to take responsibility through a formal recall and replacement program to protect the safety of drivers, passengers, and the public.

The unit has been taken to Chrysler dealers in Puerto Rico three times. On each visit, we were charged $120.00 for a total of $360.00 for the computer scan. We were charged for an electrical module, part no. 68442478AB, worth $406.59. The situation has not been resolved. The vehicle has abnormalities in the braking system, which consequently affects other functions and even drains the batteries. I would like to sell the unit, but it is not resalable due to the unresolved recall. I need Chrysler to offer me options such as a refund or another unit without defects.

While my wife was driving her Jeep, everything seemed to fail. All the gauges were gone, no speedometer, no functions working. Every warning light came on. Display stated not to shut off the engine as it may not restart. She stated nothing worked in the vehicle, turn signals, brake lights may not have been working. And what if this happened at night? Would the headlights have worked? She drove the vehicle to our local Jeep dealer where they were unable to "get it in for a week". I had the vehicle towed to another dealer about 30 miles away. I provided them with the error codes the first dealer pulled and a picture of her dash display. They stated the error didn't occur for them, they drove it 13 miles and no errors were detected so they said they cannot troubleshoot it. It was a major can bus failure. If this had been at night I wonder if the light would have even worked. Extremely unsafe not knowing if any of the systems would have functioned. I was told to call the Customer support line. This is a rabbit hole. All calls go to India, they way they will call you back with in 24 hours... NOT TRUE. After days of trying to call, I finally got in touch with someone, they simply say we will call the dealer. I am out of pocket 1,000.00 for a rental car (even though we have max care which covers a loaner) and had to pay for the tow out of pocket. Stellantis is HORRIBLE no customer service at all, it turned into a mess! I am attaching the pictures of the errors and the dash display. Very poor response from the Jeep dealers. It seemed as if they didn't want to take the time to look or check out anything.

The uconnect touchscreen had bubbling in upper left corner within the first year of being brand new. I didn't know at that time that it would lead to complete failure of the uconnect system which includes: the handsfree safety controls on steering wheel not functioning so no handsfree phone calls or messaging etc, black and unresponsive touchscreen, no navigation because screen and sound doesn't work, no function in usb ports connected to uconnect system, no audible alerts (or any sounds) from speakers for collision warning or radio etc just ZERO sounds, no back up camera because the screen doesn't work, no uconnectivity from mirror in case of collision. OH AND THE MYSTERIOUS GLOBS OF CLEAR ADHESIVE GLUE DRIPPING BELOW THE SCREEN more specifically dripping below the control knobs that are below the screen right into my center compartment where the USB ports are located! This is a known issue caused by a manufacturing defect with the glue used by Jeep to bond the layers of the screen. it should absolutely be a recall covered by Jeep! My warranty has expired so no luck for me unless uconnect covers it. Fingers. crossed on that. I checked fuses all good, did a soft reset that brought back charging ability in usb ports and the screen turned a dark blue instead of black but wtill no function, and did a hard reset by disconnecting my battery cable for 1/2 hr. Nothing worked. I was told it would cost over $2000 not including labor if the uconnect system needs to be replaced. My jeep only has 12500 miles on it. Its keep in a carport with a cover and very well maintanined. This is absolutley a safety issue! So dissapointed as this will potentially be the 2nd expensive issue with my jeep coming out of the pocket with such low mileage. Still waiting on reimbursment from last recall 94B which still has no remedy available and therefore cant get approved for reimbursment. That was over $3k to fix! Please take better care of your loyal customers Jeep!

I got into our car one day and the passenger seat headrest active headrest had deployed. We were not in any type of accident or anything to cause this. After looking online on how to fix it, it seems that it is a common problem based on different group forums and videos. Our car is a 2019 and it seems this is a known issue to the vehicle for the model years prior. We are unable to get it back into place. We will need to replace the headrest which is over $600 and there was no reason it even should have deployed.

I am writing to express my serious concern and request immediate goodwill assistance regarding my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude . This vehicle has suffered a head gasket failure at just over 100,000 miles and has been diagnosed by the dealership as a cost for myself to fix head gasket and recommended a full engine replacement. I have been a loyal Jeep customer since I was 16 years old. I previously owned a 2008 and a 2010 Grand Cherokee and have always supported the brand. In May 2022, after saving up my hard-earned money, I purchased this 2019 Grand Cherokee High Altitude for over $55,000. The monthly payments are significant, but I chose this vehicle because I believed in the Jeep name and expected quality, performance, and long-term reliability. Unfortunately, this vehicle has been anything but that. In just over two years, it has become a complete money pit. I’ve already had to replace the water pump at 50,000 miles, the radiator at 80,000 miles, and now—at 102,000 miles—the head gasket has blown. These are major repairs that should not be happening on a vehicle that is so well maintained and primarily driven on the highway. I treat this vehicle like my own child, staying on top of all maintenance—fluids, filters, routine checks, and oil changes every 5,000 miles. I’ve also had to pay out of pocket for three separate rental vehicles in the last 18 months due to these recurring issues. This vehicle has not only been unreliable but has also disrupted my ability to work. I drive for a living, commuting between multiple job sites, and I chose this vehicle for its sharp look and supposed quality. Instead, it has caused me immense stress and financial strain. Adding to my frustration is the fact that I had a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and was not notified that it was about to expire. Had I been properly informed, I would have explored my options before this latest major failure. It's clear that the 3.6L engine has a pattern of issu

My 2019 Jeep grand Cherokee currently has a blown head gasket. I have the 3.6 engine and I am finding out that this is a common issue for this engine. I have taken my car to the dealer and they have confirmed that it is a blown head gasket. Once you start the vehicle, it has a rough idle and smoke comes out of the tailpipe. Before I took the car to the dealer, I took it to a mechanic shop because the engine light came on and it was having the same issues as listed above, they had said there were misfires. I have regularly maintained my vehicle. This is a huge safety risk. Actions needs to be taken by Jeep to make this right, this is a very common issue that Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles are seeing.

I have had to replace the battery due to the brake lights draining both batteries (there are two).

Warning lights will also show up in the dash due to safety items potentially being disabled due to screen changing things by itself.

While driving at freeway speeds, my vehicle suddenly lost power, creating an immediate and serious safety hazard. I was unable to maintain speed, making it extremely difficult to change lanes safely or keep up with traffic. This put me—and others on the road—at significant risk of an accident. During the incident, the check engine light was flashing continuously. The issue was diagnosed as a failure of the engine rocker, requiring major engine repairs at only 87,000 miles. A critical engine component failing at this mileage is concerning and suggests a potential design or manufacturing defect. I’m filing this complaint to ensure others are not placed in similarly dangerous situations.

In the cold weather, usually under 40degrees, sensors come on alerting me that stablisation is disabled, auto start/stop is disabled, check engine light comes on, parking brake illuminates and does not turn off while driving, cruise control does not work, radio information cluster intermittently works etc. It's seems to be all electrical. I have taken it to the dealership several times and they can't figure out what the issue is. At first they said the auxiliary battery was bad and I paid over $400 for a new battery and still have the same issues.

The ABS module and ESC system malfunctioned. A message stating “Service Electronic Stability Control” appeared on the dashboard. The component is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. The ESC warning indicates that the system may be disabled, which could compromise the vehicle’s stability and braking performance—especially in emergency or poor weather conditions. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle, as the malfunction may affect the ability to stop or control the vehicle properly, increasing the risk of an accident. I contacted the dealership and an independent mechanic and they confirmed the issue is related to Recall Z48. However, they also stated that no repair or remedy is currently available. The “Service Electronic Stability Control” message appeared on the dashboard. This was the first noticeable symptom, and it started about 2-3 years ago. Also, my check engine light is on all the time. I cannot remote start. I few times, I’ve had issues with the brakes and my jeep not starting.

Headrest on driver's side just "exploded" open while we were just sitting in our driveway. It hit the back of my head and made a very loud sound. It could possibly have caused an accident if we were driving at the time. Local Jeep dealer says this is not covered by an ordered warranty extension although other similar older vehicles with this same issue are covered. Estimated cost of repair by the dealer over $800.

I am filing this complaint because Jeep/Chrysler has denied my reimbursement request for a repair directly related to Recall 94B, issued in November 2024, covering the ABS module on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Prior to the recall, in October 2024, I experienced failure of the ABS module and paid out-of-pocket to have the part repaired at a reputable independent repair shop. After the recall was issued, I submitted a reimbursement request with all supporting documentation, including the repair invoice and receipt, showing that the repair addressed the exact defect covered by the recall. Despite this, Jeep/Chrysler has refused reimbursement solely on the grounds that the repair was not performed at an authorized Jeep dealership. I believe this violates federal law under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (49 U.S.C. § 30120) and the related regulation (49 CFR § 573.13), which require manufacturers to reimburse owners for pre-notification repairs addressing the defect, regardless of where the repairs were performed, as long as proper documentation is provided. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in ensuring Jeep/Chrysler complies with its federal reimbursement obligations and processes my valid claim. I am prepared to provide all related invoices, receipts, and correspondence upon request.

My vehicle currently has only 23,493 miles on it. During the last 6 years it has intermittently refused to shift out of the lowest gear when I started to drive off. I then have to come to a complete stop, shift out of gear and back into gear in order to drive off. This has probably happened about 10 or 12 times in the last 6 years. I cannot make this situation repeat. It happens only on its own. It is very scary when I am on a highway with other vehicles coming up behind me and I cannot accelerate and I have to quickly find somewhere to pull over and stop. Please help me and my family. I have an appointment in June with a Jeep dealer (earliest available for a transmission problem) to have it looked at. I have never seen any error codes displayed and therefore have no clue what the cause is.

Jeep starting making a light ticking sound, like it's low on oil. That wasn't the case. Took in for a tuneup, hoping that would take care of it. It didn't. Took into dealer and the camshaft, rods had been chewed up to a faulty part inside the engine. I didn't have my vehicle for two months due to waiting on warranty company. When reached out to Jeep groups, learned this is s COMMON problem. Concerned my engine could have frozen up while driving. NO warning lights or any other symptom! If my parents hadn't taught me how to listen to vehicles, it could have been very bad turnout. This cost me almost $4k. This should be investigated!!

I am experiencing a delamination issue with the Uconnect screen in my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude. I noticed this issue years ago when my car was still under warranty but thought it was a protective film on the Uconnect screen. Now, the Uconnect screen in my vehicle randomly turns off while driving which is a serious safety issue, especially when using the navigation system. This is a well-documented problem affecting many owners which typically manifests as bubbling or peeling of the screen's surface, leading to erratic touchscreen behavior such as phantom inputs, random changes in settings, or complete unresponsiveness. The root cause of the delamination appears to be the degradation of the "LOCA" adhesive between the screen's layers, often exacerbated by heat. This degradation can lead to the separation of the screen layers, resulting in the aforementioned symptoms. The problem affects various Uconnect systems, notably the 8.4" Uconnect 4C UAQ and 4C NAV units. I have had this issue diagnosed and confirmed by Huntington Beach Chysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Huntington Beach, CA.

I took my vehicle on a road trip- it ran fine and I did not have any warnings or indications of a problem. When I stopped at my hotel room, the vehicle was fine. I went out to start it the next morning and I was met by a vehicle that would not attempt to start. It came up with a check engine light, e brake light, ABS error and a couple of other lights/error messages. I had to have the vehicle towed to a local shop where they informed me that this was associated with recall 94B. This recall was posted over six months ago and there is still no fix available. My vehicle will not start or run, and is not safe to drive even if I could get it to start. I am being told that it is impossible to fix until the manufacturer releases a repair option. I had to pay not only to have my vehicle towed and inspected by the first shop, but also I had to pay for it to be towed all the way back home (because I was on vacation when this happened) and it is now at a second shop who has confirmed the diagnosis and that no repair is available. This is my primary source of transportation for myself and my children, and I am being told that six months ago this issue was acknowledged by the manufacturer, but they have not fixed it. I contacted the support line for the manufacturer and was transferred six times, and then I was ultimately told that a supervisor would call me back with a solution, but that hasn’t happened yet. I asked if I should have my vehicle towed again to get it to the dealership for repairs and if they could offer me a loaner vehicle and the representative said she couldn’t advise me on that and I had to wait to hear back from a supervisor. I need them to either make a fix available or provide me a loaner or replacement vehicle if they are unable to resolve the problem. I purchased this vehicle in good faith.

I am writing to formally express my frustration and deep concern regarding Recall 94B, which affects my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude and currently has no available remedy. This recall, as confirmed by Fox Chrysler Jeep in Southfield, MI, directly impacts critical safety features, including the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) and other key functions essential for the safe operation of my vehicle. Given the severity of this issue—especially during Michigan’s harsh winter months—I find it unacceptable that no resolution is currently available. Fox Chrysler Jeep has verified that all warning lights on my dashboard are related to this recall, yet they have informed me there is nothing they can do at this time. As a loyal Jeep owner, I am extremely disappointed that Stellantis has not yet provided a solution to an issue that directly compromises my safety and that of others on the road. Given the circumstances, I am requesting immediate assistance from Stellantis to explore options for getting out of my current vehicle and into a new or used vehicle that is not subject to such serious, unresolved recalls. I cannot continue to drive a vehicle that poses such a significant safety risk, and I believe Stellantis has a responsibility to provide a viable alternative for affected customers.

On December 31, 2024 we had a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo cause a crash due to malfunctioning parts. The ABS brakes failed and locked up. The steering wheel also locked up, causing the vehicle to crash hard into a guard rail. This resulted in the vehicle being totaled, property damage, and a ER visit. While braking on a mountainous road, the brakes and wheel locked up and the vehicle could not be controlled. The police report states this is what happened. We had the vehicle into the dealership multiple times within a year stating that the brakes weren't working properly. They kept telling us that they couldn't find any issues; however, they kept trying to replace different parts to both the front and rear brakes. The vehicle was inspected by the police, insurance adjuster, and a collision body shop. The vehicle was totaled and not 1 single air bag deployed during the collision either. This incident was confirmed by the 3 parties I listed. A family members life was put at risk and looking at the damage, it appeared that it started to roll but ended coming back down instead. When I contacted Mopar about this incident, I was informed of the recall. They also said that there was a fix for the recall. However, there is no fix as to date. We are short a vehicle, which was paid off, an increase in auto insurance, and had a Lifetime Max Care Warranty through Mopar. None of this was in our control. The insurance company has taken the vehicle into their possession. There was no warning signs, it just happened suddenly.

Electronic stability control, check engine and ABS lights are all on. This effects not only my ESC- I have gone out of control multiple times in bad weather, but because of this the cruise control and the automatic starter on my vehicle do not work either. I live in northern VT where winters are tough. ESC needs to be working properly to prevent potential for crash. I have come close several times this winter to going out of control. Also very annoying that the convenience items do not work. Lastly- these lights have been showing on the dash since last summer. I wanted to trade the vehicle in about this time and still do for a different vehicle but can not because of the dash being lit up. This is causing significant financial impact on my household as the vehicle is depreciating day by day and I would certainly not get what its worth with a dashboard full of mechanic error lights.

As I was sitting in the back part of my jeep in the hatch out of nowhere the car shook and a large bang went off. I searched the car to find out what happened I couldn't figure it out. later when I got home my son noticed that the driver side headrest looked funny. I checked it myself and saw that the driver side air bag on the headrest deployed itself. My car has not been in any accident and the air bag deployed on its own. When I took my car for a routine oil change. I was informed that it's not jeeps responsibility and I didn't have any warranty coverage.

This is absolutely putting my safety at risk. And I am afraid to drive the vehicle to my job. With the ESC not working driving this is putting me at risk. Vehicle shut-off while in route, in traffic, check engine light then came on. The second time this occurred, check engine light came on and immediately vehicle proceeded decelerate from 55 mph to 25 mph while I was on a highway. The vehicle would not shift to a higher gear and remained in the lower gear at 30 mph on a 55 mph highway, causing me to move off to the side , turn off the vehicle and then restart the vehicle. Check engine light not shown, vehicle operated, except shifted hard. On several occasions I have shared with the dealer at service appointments that I experienced transmission sensor issues causing delayed shifting, not able to shift into reverse or drive from park, vehicles stalled, and rough gear changes, unusual noises coming from the transmission. The engine check light would come on, then disappear shortly after, but not always. Service appointments by a Jeep dealership resulted in them updating software, which I shared did nothing to resolve the problem, so I brought the vehicle back and asked they check the transmission fluid level and cleanliness of the fluid, and whatever else needed to be checked. I was told the transmission was completely sealed and it was fine by the dealership. It was not fine, and the vehicle stalled again, and again it while on the freeway, almost getting into and accident, the transmission locked up and would not move past 30 mph. A warning light did not appear. I brought it back to the Jeep dealership for repairs because it is not safe to drive. I am being told that the transmission is defective by the service department. I asked if they drove it and they said yes. This has been a problem I have been trying to get resolved for the last four months of 2024. I do have service records, in my glove box, and a video of the transmission flashing in reverse. Vehicle is at the dealership for assessment and repair.
