BACK OVER PREVENTION:DISPLAY FUNCTION
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. The center stack upper display (DCSD) contains a transistor that may overheat and prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Risk: A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. An improperly secured connector for the front seat side air bags (SAB) may prevent the air bags from deploying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 214, "Side Impact Protection."
Risk: An air bag that does not deploy during a crash increases the risk of injury.

One day, I tried to start my vehicle using the push start button, and it fell off into a hole. There were no indications or warning signs that the button was loose or needed to be replaced. When I took my vehicle to the dealership where I originally purchased it for routine maintenance, they never mentioned that the button had worn out. If it were an emergency situation where I had to turn the vehicle off and the button had randomly fallen off, there would be no other way to turn the vehicle off or on.

Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [XXX] Many people on the forum believe this issue did not start until a software update a year or so ago. This is a well known and widespread problem, and there is even a DOT Bulletin on the issue: dot.report Bulletins Because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly, I strongly believe this issue should be a manufacturer recall. I am available for any needs. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle has twice gotten stuck in third gear. While driving, as it's shifting from third to fourth, will get stuck in third and clunk, and then rev. The engine light will come on, and it forces you to pull over. The manual shifters do not work either. You have to pull over, shut the car down, and restart. The engine light comes on but no errors are logged, and the engine light clears itself a few restarts later. The first time this happened to me, I was driving with my son and it startled us that the car didn't seem to go but revved high. The most recent time, July 18,2025 I took pictures. My whole family was in the car, and we were driving through a campground with people walking around. I didn't have time to make a decision to pull over. There wasn't anywhere safe to park, so we had to coast bit to find a spot.

There were no warning lights, but when I got into car I seen my passenger seat swollen up. Looks like lumbar expanded and is going to pop. Could be dangerous if it explodes to the person sitting in the seat or behind. It just happened out of no where.

Was accelerating to pass another vehicle and all of the sudden the the check engine light came on and the engine started shaking as if it were shutting down. I was able to slow down and pull over on the side of the road. Now I am unable to accelerate over about 30 mph without this occurring.

[XXX] approx.[XXX], while driving my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee on [XXX] the Jeep without any warning sputtered and stopped in the middle of traffic. I could not get the car to keep running, and finally wouldn't start at all. I called the Sarasota Sheriff's Dept who came to the scene and found the situation to be dangerous to my vehicle and others using [XXX] they towed the vehicle to Sarasota Jeep on South 41. Received a call from Jeep on July 14, 2025 they advised me it was the Fuel pump integrated Power module which led to the stalling and eventually preventing the Jeep from starting. Same vehicle models have a recall for this, Recall is --- NHTSA Recall 21V-797, also known as Recall Y66, involves Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) vehicles due to a potential issue with difficulty activating high beams. The recall was issued because the high beam activation mechanism may not function as required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 S9, potentially reducing visibility for drivers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) notified owners about this recall on October 28, 2021... Part Number - 68374988AA... Vehicle is 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Laredo 4x4 3.6L V6..... Dealership service will not service this since there isn't a recall shown for my Jeep vin specifically. Even though there are identical models that have this recall. Jeep Dealership wants over $900 just to check and maybe service this issue..... This is a very serious issue. I have already scheduled an appointment on 7/18/2025 to have 3 other recalls fixed at this dealership and would like to ask for you to please have them service this issue as well since this is an oversight on the manufacturers end..... This high beam issue was caused by an oversight during vehicle programming, affecting "Body Controller Modules" with part number 68374988AA

I just discovered my IPC module is faulty and has been faulty. My vehicle has been putting itself into park while driving multiple times now in the little over 2 years I’ve had it. Along with many other electrical issues (power steering going out) engine not cutting off after putting it I to park and cutting the jeep off. Dash going out. Biggest issue is my vehicle causing me near miss traffic accidents. The dealership it was purchased from, certified. Hid service history reports at the sale. Also returned this vehicle multiple times without acknowledging the issue or even telling me they didn’t repair the issue. Last time it was picked up from Matt Bowers Jeep in Baton Rouge within 30 mins the issue was happening and more (rpms shooting up and Jeep taking off without giving it gas). I went public and another dealership reached out to help me. Within a few hours they noted that the vast majority of my modules weren’t updated, some bad and the IPC module keeps failing. They’re working with Stellantis trying to troubleshoot the issue. This has never been made known by Matt Bowers and matches the original service records hidden from day one. I cant get my vehicle back while the IPC module is faulty because it’s a serious safety hazard. Matt Bowers has put me back I to This vehicle multiple times knowing it was a hazard and I even Stated I felt unsafe in this Jeep. This is a serious safety hazard!!! Mopar was also made aware and has never returned any messages.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. I was idling at a light, which means the engine had auto-shut off. The light turned green and I stepped on the accelerator. Car kicked back on like normal and I got back up to speed ~45 mph. So now I'm about 1/4 mile past the light and I hear the engine kick off and lost all acceleration (everything else was normal). Warning popped up on the dash that "vehicle is not in park". I put on my hazards, braked to a stop, put the vehicle in park (nothing happened), hit the push button to turn the vehicle off, waited 2 seconds, hit the button again to turn it back on. It restarted.

My vehicle was experiencing the exact same HVAC/AC issues described in Customer Satisfaction Notification Z33 for the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Although the campaign specifically lists my make, model, and year, Stellantis claims my VIN is not covered. I was forced to pay $175 for the same repair listed in the Z33 document (HVAC module flash, Labor Code 18-Z3-31-82), and this should have been covered. My Jeep over the last year has automatically put itself into park while I’m driving down the highway! I’ve had near miss accidents due to this. No warning lights, no signs something is wrong. It just either slams itself into park and locks up, then won’t turn off. The last times without warning my engine shuts off, my screen pops up saying put into park to start engine and the vehicle puts itself into park automatically. It’s happens fast to! I was swerved by other drivers each time. Jeep will do NOTHING about this! My power steering goes out randomly also. This has happened more than once since the end of 2023! I’m now scared to drive it.

Presented as camshaft position sensor with loss of power, poor acceleration and general misfires. After many weeks of diagnostic and repairs, turns out to be a problem with the camshaft intake. Specifically the entire cam kit. Appeared 1 week after purchase as a check engine light. This problem had been confirmed by the chrysler dealership where I bought the car and sent it for diagnostic. Problem with the cam could result in sudden loss of power while driving/and or limp mode. Damage to transmission and other parts such as timing chain. I do not have any invoices, however this vehicle was in for service at greenwood auto in cortland ohio for a week before being transferred to Mig chryler in bellafontaine ohio where it was bought for service. Currently no invoice for the repair because the parts are not available due to high amount of demand for this specific problem. My jeep has now been in the shop for 4 weeks with no timeframe for parts.

The vehicle didn’t automatic update of its “UCONNECT” system without warning after stopping at a gas station. Once the vehicle was turned back on after the update was completed there was a light on my dashboard signaling that the forward collision warning system is off. Some other things happened as well such as all my settings were reverted back to factory settings, and the menu screen was in Italian. After online research, it seems that this is a very common problem with the specific model. I was able to revert everything except for the Ford Collision , warning, which still states that it is OFF, after the update. After communicating all this information with Jeep, they want me to pay for a repair that was due to their system update.

My dash cluster is completely blank. I am merely reporting this to the NHSTA for purposes of record and it being a very unsafe situation in not being able to see my speed among many other safety issues the cluster provides. This is a HUGE safety concern and caused me a great amount of stress trying to drive to work today. It looks as though Jeep has already provided a recall for a very similar issue with their Jeep Wranglers & Gladiator vehicles. I own a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L - Attitude model.

ABS , Traction Control, Power brake booster, AEB inoperative after routine brake pads/rotor service. Vehicle was put into service mode via touch screen radio, rear brake service performed. Upon initial brake pedal application, required to exit service mode for rear brakes, to return caliper piston contact to brake pad. The vehicle disables abs and supporting system and sets codes c0050 , c2227 . As a technician my opinion is the extra brake fluid required to take up open space after service is discharged via accumulator into the brake system with no resistance or pressure due to caliper pistons expanding to the brake pads. These faults render the power brake boost abs and multiple other safety systems inoperative until a dealer level scan tool can perform abs initialization, and a hydraulic prove out test, and clear all codes, even with all code cleared power brake boost was lack just at best on initial test drive after service. A basic routine service should not affect a vehicle as adversely as this. While dealers may know what's going on your independently run shops and DIYers may return unsafe vehicles to customers/owners. This is the 3rd vehicle I have personally experienced this with. I will up load separate reports with those vins accordingly.

While driving my kids home from the school the vehicle stark jerking and kicking in the back while I was accelerating. Then the vehicle stopped shifting gears. I pulled to the side of the road turned off the car, turned it back on and it worked fine. I have this incident twice in two years. Secondly the paddle shift gear showed as disabled when I want to use manual gear. Checked the dashboard and there is no option saying enabled or disable peddle Shift gear. Thirdly the forward collision warning light is on on the dashboard. From time to Time the vehicle stops abruptly.

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L has has numerous electrical issues. The screens glitch while driving, auto stop start system does not work, back hatch will not close sporadically. These issues are happening to many Grand Cherokee L owners and the dealership says they are "known issues". Batteries have been replaced and issues persist. The electrical system issues are now causing the car to drive inconsistently.

Jeep recently pushed an update through the vehicle over the air. Since the update the forward collision disable warning light has been illuminated on the front cluster. All attempts to correct the issue have rendered useless. The update has caused the safety feature of the front collision warning (sound and/or breaking) inoperable.

December 2021 about 2 months after purchasing, traction control, power steering light would intermittently turn on as well as the radio screen would flash black. All of these were separate problems and were not ways necessarily present when another light was on but they did occasionally all happen at the same time. Periodically, not every time when the light came there was the inability to turn the wheel. The length of time the light of inability to turn the wheel would vary sometimes the light would go away after turning the vehicle off and turning it back on while other times it was days. By the time a shop is able to get it in to be looked at the lights were off and not able to be recreated. It was at the dealership for a while and was told I could bring it home. I had concerns the and voiced them that although the light isn’t on now, what if it does turn on and I can’t turn the steering wheel while driving? It couldn’t be fixed if they didn’t know what was causing it. Eventually an ‘update’ was done and supposed to have fixed the problem. The radio still flashes a black screen periodically, the lights didn’t come on as frequent and the inability to turn the wheel went away. Until recently December 2024 intermittent lights that come on but do not stay on, check engine light, electric power steering, front collision (off) and traction control. These lights have come on intermittently but do not stay on. I have had times where I was unable to turn the wheel, luckily not on the road, the vehicle has lost traction while driving in the snow over the winter and has occasionally felt like the vehicle was ‘chugging’ down the road. Now the symptoms are not present every time a light turns on sometimes it runs fine. The length of time the lights stay on vary and again by the time I can get an appt the lights are off and the lights do not always come on at the same time as another. So the issue occurring with hardly any miles and no again with about 50k mils.

Started my car and all brake lights came on. I had no brakes, brakes wouldn’t pump. Luckily I was a few miles from a Jeep dealer, they said it needed a brake module system, $1100 to repair. I have 56,000 miles and it is not under warranty.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH over railroad tracks, the rear of the vehicle started swaying temporarily. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure recurred while driving over a bumpy road surface or a pothole. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear suspension had failed due to an impact; however, the contact informed the dealer that the vehicle had only driven over a bump on the road. The dealer verified that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V132000 (Suspension, Steering); which the contact related to the failure. The dealer determined that the lower control arms, the shocks, the axle shaft boots, and the sway bar end link needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the collateral damage repair could not be covered under the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had not yet received the recall notice. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

I was due for an inspection sticker and my vehicle did not pass due to it initially during and not having driven enough miles to reset the code. I had drove enough miles and was going to get it reinspected but the battery died again. I had jumped my vehicle and drove it to reset the code again however upon stop at a red light the car turned over and wouldn’t start up again. I had three of my kids in the car and can’t imagine if I was not close to home with them or on a highway when this happened. There were no warnings and the police had to call in tow due the hazardous situation. The dealership said the issue was that the radio was causing battery drainage of both batteries in my car.
