Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2020 Jeep Gladiator. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The check engine light was illuminated. While detailing and deep cleaning the vehicle, the contact located a letter with the mileage. The contact sent an email and called the local dealer, but the dealer failed to respond. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 50,000. It was later discovered that the mileage on the Title was 300,000.

I was never notified of Recall Y68 for my vehicle by Jeep or FCA, despite federal requirements that recall notices be sent by mail or electronic communication. I only became aware of the recall after my independent mechanic (Jay’s Auto Care, Kirkland WA) diagnosed a cylinder misfire and confirmed engine damage, and advised me to take the vehicle to Jeep. On June 26, 2025, I brought the vehicle to Rairdon’s Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Kirkland and reported the misfire, with documentation from my mechanic confirming engine damage. While the dealer performed the PCM update under Recall Y68, they refused to address the misfire and instructed me to wait until the check engine light returned before they would act further. On [XXX], when the fault reappeared, I returned immediately to the dealer. I was then told the repair would not be covered due to the time elapsed since my first visit. Jeep corporate was contacted (Case #[XXX]) but has failed to provide any resolution or even respond to my written request. As of August 2025, Jeep’s lack of recall notification, the dealer’s refusal to address a documented engine defect, and Jeep’s non-response have forced me to purchase and install a replacement engine at my own expense through my independent mechanic. Safety Concern: •The vehicle suffered continued drivability issues while waiting for Jeep’s required “re-trigger,” risking further engine damage. •Driving with a compromised engine presents safety hazards, including sudden stalling or loss of power. •Jeep’s failure to notify me of the recall and subsequent refusal to address the misfire left me with no safe or reasonable alternative. Requested Outcome: I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in ensuring Jeep/FCA: 1.Properly documents whether notification for Recall Y68 was ever sent to me. 2.Provides reimbursement or goodwill coverage for the cost of the replacement engine and labor. 3.Reviews whether dealer handling of this recall complied with FCA/Fed recall INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (

POWER TRAIN

I am filing a safety complaint regarding repeated and unresolved transmission issues with my Jeep. The vehicle has undergone two full transmission replacements after a $10,000 repair, yet critical symptoms persist, including transmission overheating (up to 240°F) and a loud whining noise while accelerating. These problems continue despite no warning lights or diagnostic codes, creating a false sense of safety. On August 4, 2025, the vehicle reached 240°F and produced loud mechanical noise while driving. This mirrors the same symptoms from before the original transmission repair and represents a clear safety hazard. These issues put me at risk of sudden transmission failure, loss of power, or loss of control while driving. The dealer has confirmed the overheating and replaced the transmission twice, but the problem remains. A brake hookup was also installed incorrectly, causing additional safety concerns that were only corrected after my insistence. Despite multiple service visits, Jeep refuses to: Provide a loaner vehicle Escalate to a corporate-level inspection Offer a buyback or reimbursement Jeep offered only an extended warranty with a deductible, which I declined as inappropriate given the unresolved repair. I have also submitted a formal legal demand to Jeep, which remains unanswered. The lack of diagnostic codes paired with dangerous symptoms and unresolved failures is deeply concerning. This issue should be investigated for a potential defect in the transmission system or software diagnostics. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter and that Stellantis/Jeep be held accountable for unsafe practices and poor post-repair support.

STEERING

During normal driving, dash would display multiple warning lights. There would be traction control, ABS inactive, and transmission errors displayed on the screen. Twice, there was a loss of power steering while driving. All signs pointed to a CAN buss issue, but dealer could not/ would not find it. Doing research, I found that the CAN buss connector located behind the glove compartment was known in the Jeep community to fail and cause these symptoms. The only replacement is offered by Mopar/Stellantis. Multiple models and makes under Stellantis company use this same connector that has bad solder connections inside. It causes increased resistance inside the connector, and causes CAN buss communication errors, and setting any one of hundreds of possible DTC. In every occasion, there was a loss of stability control, ABS, and multiple occasions of vehicle being locked in Park. In two occasions, the electric assist power steering was disabled.

To Whom It May Concern, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally report a serious mechanical failure involving my 2020 Jeep Gladiator (VIN: [XXX] ), which recently experienced a complete engine lock-up without any prior warning signs. The vehicle is now inoperable. Given the severity of the issue, I am requesting a thorough review under the manufacturer’s 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, as well as an investigation into any applicable recalls or technical service bulletins (TSBs) that may relate to this failure. For your reference, I am aware of the following known issues tied to this vehicle model: Recall 21V-028 – Clutch overheating and potential fire risk (manual transmission) TSB 18-024-21 – PCM software update and possible camshaft replacement (associated with Code: P0300) Notably, my vehicle exhibited no prior symptoms—such as loss of power, engine misfires, dashboard warnings, or burning odors—prior to the engine failure. I respectfully request NHTSA’s assistance in confirming: Whether my vehicle is currently subject to any open recalls or safety investigations Whether this type of engine failure has been reported by other 2020 Jeep Gladiator owners What recourse is available to owners under federal warranty or safety defect protections if the dealership is unable or unwilling to resolve the issue I can be reached directly at [XXX] or via email at [XXX] . I appreciate your time and urgent attention to this matter and hope we can find a swift and fair resolution. My instrument cluster 7.0” tft color display flickers on and off and is distracted while I drive. There is a recall for the 3.5” display that does NOT cover my jeep gladiator but perhaps the recall needs to be expanded. Mine was gladiator is covered by an extended warranty but the part is on back order for 6 months. I am at 5 months but still no sign of a part. Since jeep nor the warranty company nor the dealership will provide a rental car, I am driving an unsafe vehicle with the dash flickering on on off every 3 seconds. It is more distracting at night than during the day.

I took my vehicle to a local dealer to have to recall completed. They told me that they would not complete the safety recall due to vehicle modifications. Dealer stated that they had completed the recall on a previous vehicle and due to the same modifications the new software rendered the vehicle unusable. When the first 19a recall came out and there was no manufacturer remedy, I purchased a new clutch and had an authorized Jeep dealer (dealer I purchased the vehicle from) to install.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a serious mechanical issue involving my 2020 Jeep Gladiator (VIN: [XXX] rienced a complete and unexpected engine lock-up. The vehicle is now undrivable and presents both a functional and potential safety concern. Prior to this failure, there were no warning signs—no engine misfires, loss of power, burning smells, or dashboard warning lights. The incident occurred suddenly and without any preceding symptoms. I am aware of several issues affecting this model year, including: Recall 21V-028 – Involving clutch overheating and potential fire risk in manual transmission vehicles TSB 18-024-21 – Pertaining to PCM software updates and camshaft replacement due to engine misfire (P0300) While I understand that technical service bulletins do not carry the same weight as recalls, the combination of TSB-related concerns and my complete engine failure raises questions about broader mechanical reliability and consumer safety. I have reached out to the dealership (Napleton’s River Oaks CDJR) to request evaluation and warranty support under the 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage. However, I am also submitting this report to the NHTSA for documentation and investigation purposes, in the event this issue reflects a larger pattern affecting other vehicles of the same make and model. I respectfully request that the NHTSA review this case and consider whether further investigation is warranted, particularly if other consumers report similar issues. I have a 2020 Jeep Gladiator. My instrument panel cluster was blinking for a few weeks. Now there is no light at all. One can not see the milage, gas, speed, etc. There was a current recall that came out September 2024, however mine was not included. This poses a safety issue as one can not see mileage (oil changes), gas remaining or any other significant messages (air bag, coolant information, brake system, tire pressure, etc) When we brought it to the dealership they said it was not covered yet, but wait it out.

this 2020 Jeep Gladiator has repeatedly experienced the infamous Jeep Gladiator "Death Wobble" related to front steering component defects/failures/poor design. It creates a very hazardous driving condition. The local dealer, Hilltop Jeep in Richmond, and Stellantis declined to make repairs and instead left us on our own to get the needed repairs done at a local Jeep 4x4 specialist shop and the repairs cost ~3000+ dollars. Stellantis has refused to pay for the needed repairs.

Driving at 40-65mph vehicle begins to shake violently, known as the death wobble. Extremely unsafe to be on the road. Transmission gets stuck in 3rd gear, hard shifts and does not respond when shifting to reverse. Mileage is 69110 but has been an issue since about 27000. Unfortunately I have no money to take to a mechanic. Very disappointed in Jeep will not be purchasing Jeeps in the near future.

The center gauge has gone out. It was flashing brightly as it went out. It shows: the speed, the battery voltage, tire pressure, gas remaining, mileage and all of the information from the computer that can be changed. The service department said they didn’t know what could be causing it. Perhaps wiring. I’ve checked fuses and wiring and the battery and can’t find any issues. The other two analog gauges work fine. I don’t know if it’s still ticking off the miles I drive. I assume it is? I’m getting no help and I saw that there was a recall but I’m not in it? Any help would be awesome.

Transmission failed to go into reverse. 2020 Gladiator Rubicon with 57k miles.Transmission had been pausing and then shifting into reverse with a clunk sound. Have taken to a Jeep service shop and they did not find any error codes and were not sure of the cause. Problem started getting worse in the past couple of days to where when try to put in reverse, it will not do anything. the "R" light flashes. Have to shift into drive and then back to reverse to get it to go into revers. However, this has stopped working to where to at times cannot get the transmission to go into revers. the transmission also shifts hard on the upshift from 3-4th gear at certain RPMs/speeds. when has issue of not being able to get into reverse yesterday, had to push the vehicle back while in nuetral in order to get it to where i could then put it in drive. In drive on the main road, it would not shift out of first gear, so had to park it and get a ride home. several hours later was able to get the vehicle home. it appears from looking online that a lot of people have had this exact same issue with the 8 speed auto transmission. the only solution it to replace the transmission which costs upwards of $6k. As many issues there are with this transmission, Jeep should have a recall to fix this issue instead of customers having to shell out thousands of $s. Needless to say, i will never buy another jeep product. JEEP=Junk Each and Every Piece!

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

The digital instrument cluster on my 2020 Jeep Gladiator has been completely nonfunctional since late November 2024. This failure means I cannot see the odometer, digital speedometer, and all other vehicle status indicators displayed through the cluster. The problem has been confirmed by an authorized Jeep dealership, which has been unable to secure a replacement part due to a reported supply shortage. Jeep corporate has had this case escalated for months without resolution. As a result, I have been driving without these essential instruments for over 8 months, with no timeline provided and no workaround. In addition to the loss of fuel and mileage visibility (and potentially odometer functionality), I also cannot confirm whether the cruise control is active. This could cause potential safety risks during highway travel. There were no warning lights or error messages prior to the failure. The cluster simply went dark. The faulty component is still in the vehicle and available for inspection. Jeep is aware of the issue, and a case is currently open.

The dealership mechanics found the problem to be the cam shaft lobe being scored causing piston #5 to misfire. The dealership told me that there are 12,000 backlogged requests for this part. In other words, there is a known defect in the cam shaft. The price of repair is over $4000. This needs to be a mandatory recall by the manufacturer!! 12,000 back logged requests for this part? Really? This is a safet issues because of the engine power loss while driving down the highway. My truck was in the shop at the dealership for 41 days. Ridiculous.

The 7" Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) began flickering constantly in January 2025 then stopped turning on altogether in May 2025. A similar issue led to safety recalls for Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers with 3.5" IPCs. This is much more concerning for owners with 7" IPCs, as these versions do not have analog temperature and fuel gauges. A dealership (Bayside King George, VA) first observed the flickering when test driving the vehicle after performing the last safety recall. I have not brought the vehicle back since the display stopped turning on because dealerships regularly charge ~$2,000 and hold the vehicle for an extended period to fix this with a replacement IPC. Losing the digital speedometer and ability to observe what speed the cruise control is set to, fluid temperatures, tire pressure, and battery voltage is very concerning, and it is puzzling why Jeeps with 7" IPCs, which are harmed more due to this fault, were excluded from this recall. While searching forums about this issue, it was apparent that this was a widespread issue for Wranglers and Gladiators with 7" IPCs.

On May 17th 2025, I brought my vehicle to the Jeep Chrysler Dodge of Paramus (315 Rte 4 West, Paramus, NJ 07652) for the recall repair. Today, on May 20, 2025, I received my vehicle back after refusing an additional $580 charge for a hydraulic clutch master cylinder replacement, which the dealership claimed was unrelated to the recall. I declined this service due to the financial burden and my belief that the repair should be covered under the recall, but this leaves my vehicle in a potentially unsafe condition. As a Material Planning Specialist in Paramus, NJ, I rely on my Gladiator for daily commuting, and operating it with a damaged component poses significant risks. The repair delay, while only three days and not yet qualifying for New Jersey’s Lemon Law, has resulted in my vehicle being returned without addressing a critical safety issue. During the repair, the dealership informed me that the hydraulic clutch master cylinder is damaged and requires replacement at an additional cost of $580, claiming it is unrelated to the recall. However, when I spoke with the service manager on May 20th, they admitted they have no evidence that the master cylinder damage is not due to the recalled clutch pressure plate. Given the recall’s documented risk of the pressure plate fracturing and causing collateral damage to nearby components (e.g., transmission case), I believe the master cylinder failure is likely a direct result of the defective clutch system. The recall repair should cover such related damages, yet the dealership refuses to include this repair under the recall’s scope without providing a clear explanation or diagnostic evidence.

On [XXX], the cluster of my 2020 Gladiator JT turned black. After searching similar issues online, I found that there is an NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-652, Manufacturer Recall Number: 30B that affects Models: 2020–2024 Jeep Gladiator. The Issue is summarized as follow: " The IPC may experience an internal short circuit, leading to a blank screen. This malfunction prevents the display of critical information such as speed, fuel level, and warning indicators, posing a safety risk". This is exactly what I am experiencing with my car. I entered my VIN number [XXX] on the NHTSA website but my car has no recalls. I'd like to file a formal request to have this VIN number included in the recall so I can get this issue fixed rapidly. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator dash Cluster failed on January 28. 44,267 miles, off warranty of 3 years, 36000 miles. No off roading to date. Deemed unsafe to drive by dealer. Part through Chrysler has been "ETA'd" a month at a time, despite weekly updates. I believe this should be reported and investigated throughout the consumer purchases. No warning, driver display went black while driving down the interstate. No idea on gas level, had analog speedometer and RPM, thankfully, but I was 40 miles from my dealer. Manufacturer to date has not "inspected" my Gladiator. They only contacted the dealer to indicate they are "expediting" my part order. Vehicle is available for inspection. It has been sitting outside on the dealer lot since Jan 28, 2025. It was never subjected to the elements prior to this incident: always garaged.

Started vehicle for second time same day to depart location and instrument cluster completely black and not working. This issue has not fixed itself over time, and is not linked to any other issue causing such. Issue also has not been resolved as a new cluster is almost $500. Instrument cluster not functioning makes it very unsafe to drive as well as makes it impossible to see or find any vital information pertaining to the vehicles health and performance. I can no longer access fuel levels, engine/oil/transmission/etc. temperatures. Oil life, as well as not being able to reset oil life when/if oil is changed. As well, but NOT limited to, I also cannot even access vehicles current mileage, and cannot even see battery voltage. My vehicle also is in desperate need of new tires, but because of this issue I cannot even replace them properly as I need cluster screen to make sure the accurate, proper and PRECISE tire size is imputed to vehicle to not affect vehicles performance and most importantly health. The instrument panel cluster of my 2020 Jeep Gladiator went blank a few months ago. Therefore, my odometer, fuel gage and several other notifications were not visible. The recall Campaign Number: 24V652000 for the instrument cluster panel does not include my vin #. I am looking to be refunded for the $$ I already had to spend to fix this and not sure how to go about getting my vehicle included in this recall.

Jeep Gladiator 7" instrument panel cluster (IPC) screen stopped working. This display shows vital vehicle information such as mileage, fuel level, engine temperature, battery voltage, tire pressure, and other important information. I believe this is a safety issue because of the fact that you have no idea how much fuel you have, which could lead to engine shutting off when fuel is empty. There were no warnings. No lights, buzzers, or any messages in the screen. There is an open recall on Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler models with the 3.5" IPC screen that stopped working (Stellantis recall #30B - issued Sept 5, 2024). My vehicle is a 2020 model with only 20,500 miles, and I am the original owner.
