TIRES:TEMPORARY/EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2024 Jay Feather travel trailers. A14-inch spare tire was mistakenly installed when the tire placard information is based on a 15-inch tire. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Risk: Referring to the placard, the operator can inflate the tire to an incorrect pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.

TIRES
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2021 Jay Feather X213 "J3" Baja type recreational trailers. The tire size and Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) information on the tire and certification labels may be incorrect, possibly resulting in the vehicle being overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Risk: Incorrect tire and GAWR information may cause the vehicle to be overloaded, increasing the risk of a crash.
2020 JAYCO JAY FEATHER

STRUCTURE:EMERGENCY:ESCAPE/EGRESS/EXIT
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Jay Feather X19H travel trailers. The handles for the emergency exit windows may not allow the windows to open sufficiently for them to be used as an emergency egress.
Risk: If an occupant is unable to exit through the egress window in the event of an emergency, there is an increased risk of an injury.
2019 JAYCO JAY FEATHER
149 vehicles affected
SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2019 Jayco White Hawk, Jay Flight SLX, and Jay Feather travel trailers. The inner wheel hub bearings may not have been sufficiently greased, which can cause the bearings to overheat and fail.
Risk: If the bearings overheat, the hub may fail, affecting handling and increasing the risk of a crash.

13049 vehicles affected
INTERIOR LIGHTING
Jayco Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2017 Jay Flight Bungalow, Hummingbird, White Hawk, Jay Flight SLX, Jay Feather 7, Jay Feather and Jay Flight fifth wheel recreational trailers. The LED ceiling lights may produce excessive heat.

EQUIPMENT
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V746-9524.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
Risk: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
2017 JAYCO JAY FEATHER
3085 vehicles affected
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Jay Feather, Jay Flight, Jay Flight SLX, Eagle, White Hawk, and Octane travel trailers manufactured January 5, 2016, to July 18, 2016, equipped with a Sway Command anti-sway system. When connected to certain tow vehicles that have an integrated brake controller, and after the anti-sway system has applied the trailer brakes in response to a sway event, the trailer brakes may no longer function to slow or stop the trailer.
Risk: A loss of trailer brakes may lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

2022 JAYCO JAY FEATHER
ID: 2118527STRUCTURE:BODY
On [XXX], my wife and I were driving northbound on [XXX] in Georgia, pulling our Jayco Feather Micro 166FBS travel trailer. It was early afternoon on a sunny day with moderately heavy traffic; we were traveling in the outside lane at approximately 65 mph. We were approximately 40 miles south of the South Carolina border when a car, then a semi, in quick order, waved us over. We did not feel or hear anything amiss on the trailer. We pulled over as quickly as possible and saw that panels of the undercarriage of the travel trailer were dragging on the ground. Further examination revealed that the built-in 50 gallon fresh water tank was missing and the plumbing and electrical lines to the rig were severed. After failing to obtain road service after several hours, I crawled under the trailer and tied up what loose ends were available so I could cautiously drive to a Campers World Service Center in Ridgeland, SC, 46 miles distant. The trailer has been under repair since that time and the estimate is that it will be complete by mid-August with a repair bill of approximately $3000. I am a retired structural engineer, registered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. My quick examination of the failure is that while the 2(?) flat steel straps appeared sufficient, they were only attached to the frame of the trailer by 2 self-tapping screws per strap (one strap was dropped on [XXX] and the other was only held by one loose screw, dragging under the trailer). Multiple thru bolt attachments should have been required with lock washers and/or lock nuts in order to insure a vibration resistant assembly. Further compounding the inadequacy of the design is that the entire underbody of the trailer is insulated and covered by coroplast (corrugated plastic) preventing inspection of the structural integrity without a major strip down of the trailer. This trailer was purchased new in late August 2022 and came with a 3 year structural warranty which Jayco has refused to honor. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION
