2020 JAYCO ALANTE Complaints and Recall Information

The 2020 JAYCO ALANTE has 3 complaints and 3 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with the front reading lights and dome light over the bunk failing due to wiring problems. The wiring was found to be improperly routed and damaged by contact with the fiberglass structure, causing blown fuses and safety concerns related to potential fire hazards.

Common Issues
  • Wiring defects. Front reading lights and dome light fuse blows repeatedly because wires are crimped, chafed, or cut by rubbing on the fiberglass structure due to improper routing.
  • Electrical shorting. Short circuits occur behind enclosed areas leading to repeated fuse failures and risk of fire from arcing wires.
  • Manufacturer response. Manufacturer showed reluctance to address the defect after repairs were made, with complaints citing safety concerns and lack of cooperation.

There are three recalls affecting various systems on the 2020 JAYCO ALANTE. The recalls address engine compartment insulation, cooking stove gas leaks, and window glass adhesive failures. These defects are related to potential injury risks including burns, fire hazards, and dangers from detached glass while driving.

Recalls
  • Engine insulation. (NHTSA 20V667000) 1,058 vehicles affected. Insufficient heat insulation in the engine covers causes excessive interior surface temperatures risking occupant injury. Jayco will install insulation inserts and foam seals free of charge.
  • Cooking stove gas leak. (NHTSA 21V204000) 2,144 vehicles affected. Overtightened saddle valve bolts may damage o-ring seals, causing continuous gas leaks that increase fire risk. Remedy kits with gaskets and washers will be installed for free.
  • Window adhesive failure. (NHTSA 20V337000) 449 vehicles affected. Adhesive bond failure between glass and hinge frames of frameless crank-out vent windows may cause glass to fall out while driving, risking injury or crashes. Dealers will inspect and replace windows if needed at no cost.

Owners dealing with repeated defects or unresolved recall repairs may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Those affected might consider consulting with a consumer protection attorney familiar with motorhome lemon law claims.

EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER

Our Alante's front reading lights and dome light over the bunk quit working. We found a blown fuse, new fuse blows immediately. Repair shop found wires crimped, chafed, some cut clean through by rubbing on fiberglass structure. Problem is a manufacturing defect. The installer routed the wires improperly and the inspector never caught it. These wires were shorting-out behind an enclosed area. In the interest of Safety, taking into consideration the fact- arcing/shorting wires could easily start a fire that would be impossible to extinguish (fire would be inaccessible without tools) we feel a complaint is justified. Photographic evidence available Vehicle has been repaired Manufacturer is uncooperative/uninterested in problem, Police, insurance are not applicable Fuse for lights first blew in July, 2024
