2015 JAGUAR XF Complaints and Recall Information
The 2015 JAGUAR XF has 1 complaint and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report suspension issues, specifically a cracked front driver’s side ball joint discovered during inspection without any warning light illumination.
Common Issues
- Suspension failure. A cracked front driver’s side ball joint requires replacement, identified at approximately 110,000 miles during vehicle inspection.
There are six recalls affecting various components including the electrical system, engine belts, air bags, fuel system, and power steering. These recalls address potential safety hazards and mechanical defects requiring dealer inspection and repairs.
Recalls
- Electrical system and engine belts. NHTSA recall 14V673000 affects 272 vehicles. The Front End Accessory Drive belt, Power Assisted Steering pump pulley, and battery positive cable at the alternator may detach. A loose battery cable can cause an electrical short with fire risk, while detachment of the belt may cause loss of power steering, increasing crash risk. Dealers inspect and correct threading and torque at no charge.
- Driver air bag inflator. Recall 16V229000 covers 5 vehicles. The driver air bag may lack a chemical enhancer needed for proper second stage deployment, increasing injury risk. Dealers replace the air bag modules free of charge.
- Fuel system fuel lines. Recall 16V796000 involves 5,081 vehicles with 2.0L GTDi engines. Insufficient clearance between fuel lines and underbody components can cause chafing and fuel leaks, increasing fire risk. Dealers will inspect and replace lines as needed and add clips once parts become available. The recall began with notices expected in January 2017.
- Passenger air bag inflator. Recall 18V010000 covers 16,532 vehicles sold or registered in specific U.S. zones. Air bag inflators may explode due to propellant degradation after exposure to humidity and temperature cycles, posing risk of serious injury or death. Dealers replace passenger air bag assemblies free of charge.
- Power steering system. Recall 16V137000 affects 6,938 vehicles with 2.0L GTDi engines. The retaining bolt for the Front End Auxiliary Drive idler pulley may fail, causing loss of power steering assist which increases crash risk. Dealers replace the pulley assembly at no cost.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, unresolved safety defects, or ongoing recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting the relevant legal resources can provide guidance on how to proceed with these concerns.
