The 2012 INTERNATIONAL TERRASTAR has 0 complaints and 5 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to various system defects addressed through recalls. No individual complaint details are available.

Five recalls have been issued affecting components including the fuel system, steering, visibility, electrical software, and HVAC system. These recalls address potential safety risks and require free repairs or part replacements by dealers.

Recalls
  • Fuel system cap. Recall 11V290000 affects 3,375 vehicles. The return fuel valve cap may fall off allowing air into the fuel system. This may cause hard starting, no start, or stalling leading to increased crash risk. Dealers will replace the valve cap free of charge.
  • Steering gear pitman arm. Recall 12V170000 involves 234 vehicles. Over-tightened fasteners may fail causing pitman arm separation from the steering gear. This could cause loss of steering control and increase crash risk. Dealers will replace fasteners at no cost.
  • Sun shade attachment. Recall 13V146000 covers 14,720 vehicles. The sun shade may not be properly secured and could partially or fully separate from the cab roof. Separation during driving could distract the driver and increase crash risk. Dealers will inspect and reinforce the mounting free of charge.
  • Engine control software. Recall 14V063000 involves 538 vehicles equipped for emergency operations. An engine shutdown feature (EWPS) was mistakenly re-enabled after recalibration. This could cause unintended engine shutdown during emergencies, jeopardizing safety. Dealers will recalibrate the ECM software free of charge.
  • HVAC power module. Recall 15V241000 affects 82,736 vehicles. Electrical overloads may cause the HVAC system linear power module to overheat and fail, increasing fire risk. Dealers will replace the module with an upgraded version at no charge.

Owners facing repeated repairs or unresolved recall defects should consider their rights under state lemon laws. Consultation with a qualified attorney may help resolve persistent safety or reliability issues.

A vehicle double battery jump start or electrical load dump event could result in an overvoltage condition of a component within the HVAC system linear power module (LPM) which is used to control the blower speed. The overvoltage condition could result in the overheating and failure of the LPM.

Risk: If the LPM overheats and fails, there is an increased risk of a fire.
