2018 INFINITI QX30

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.

SEAT BELTS:FRONT:ANCHORAGE

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018 Infiniti QX30 vehicles. The bolt securing the right-hand side lower seat belt anchorage may have been incorrectly installed during production. This can result in the lower seat belt anchorage detaching in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with certain requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages", number 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies, and number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk: If the lower seat belt anchorage detaches in a crash, it can increase the risk of injury.

I am reporting a serious manufacturer defect in my 2018 Infiniti QX30. The headliner has detached and is sagging, obstructing rear window visibility and presenting a potential distraction while driving. This impairment significantly reduces rear visibility and has created an ongoing safety risk, especially when changing lanes or reversing. Infiniti Consumer Affairs has acknowledged the defect and its safety concerns but has only offered partial repair coverage, which I have refused on the basis that no consumer should bear any cost for a safety-related manufacturer defect. The defect is not due to misuse, damage, or wear, and the vehicle is otherwise in good condition. This issue has been reported to multiple regulatory agencies. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter as a potential safety hazard and evaluate whether it qualifies for a recall or manufacturer accountability. Car has been having issues related to recall but is not on list.
