No direct complaints are reported but the recall data highlights potential safety risks involving engine performance and passenger safety systems.

There are multiple recalls affecting the vehicle covering various components including the accelerator pedal assembly and air bag inflators. These recalls address risks such as engine stalling and air bag inflator ruptures that could cause injury.

  • Accelerator pedal sensor defect. Recall 13V430000 affects 98,307 vehicles. The sensor signal may deteriorate causing the engine to go into fail-safe mode, which can lead to engine stalling at idle or when stopping, increasing crash risk. Dealers replace the accelerator pedal assembly and reprogram the engine control module free of charge.
  • Passenger air bag inflator rupture risk. Multiple recalls including 16V349000, 20V008000, and 17V028000 involve passenger-side inflators that may explode due to propellant degradation after exposure to heat and humidity. This could send metal fragments into the occupant compartment causing serious injury or death. Nissan will replace these inflators free of charge with notification mailed to owners.
  • Driver air bag inflator defect. Recall 22E066000 affects 375 vehicles with inflators installed during repair. These inflators may explode from propellant degradation, posing a risk of injury from metal fragments. Dealers will inspect and replace inflators as needed, free of charge.
  • Replacement inflator risk. Recall 22E066000 covers replacement service parts for both driver and passenger-side air bags in vehicles including the 2008 M35. Propellant degradation can cause inflator explosion and risk of injury. Inspection and replacement are provided free of charge without a "Do Not Drive" advisory.

Owners contending with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues related to safety defects involving the air bag inflators or throttle control should consider their rights under their state’s lemon law. Legal guidance is advisable when dealing with serious defects affecting vehicle safety.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain air bag inflator replacement service parts that may have been installed as part of a theft or collision repair. The parts include certain passenger-side air bag inflators designed to fit Infiniti 2002-2003 QX4, 2006-2010 M35 and M45; Nissan 2001-2003 Maxima, 2002-2006 Sentra, and both driver and passenger-side inflators designed to fit 2007-2012 Versa Sedan and Versa Hatchback vehicles. Please see Nissan's recall report for the specific part numbers. These replacement inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Risk: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
