2019 IC BUS CE Complaints and Recall Information
The 2019 IC BUS CE has 0 complaints and 8 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues relating to the diesel fuel system pre-heater and the service brakes, particularly involving overheating and potential fire risks.
There are eight recalls affecting various systems including the hydraulic brake system, diesel fuel pre-heater, air brake calipers, and emergency exit components. These recalls address fire hazards, brake failures, and emergency exit handle defects that impact vehicle safety.
Recalls- Hydraulic brake fluid leak. Recall 23V397000 affects 6,786 vehicles where the brake pressure switch assembly can leak brake fluid into electrical components, causing a short circuit that may overheat and increase fire risk. Owners must park outside until repairs are made. Dealers will replace the brake pressure switch, harness, or fuse as needed.
- Diesel fuel pre-heater overheating. Recalls 19V216000, 19V217000, 20V219000, and 20V220000 affect over 94,000 vehicles with Cummins B6.7 engines. The electric fuel heater may overheat, melt plastic parts, and cause fire or engine stalls, increasing crash risk. Repairs include replacing or disabling the fuel heater and removing electrical power with dealer-installed covers and plugs.
- Rear brake caliper drag. Recall 19V373000 covers 2,620 buses where the driver side rear brake may drag, causing brake damage, ABS warning, and fire risk. Dealers will replace the left rear caliper with a redesigned adjuster mechanism free of charge.
- Emergency exit roof hatch handle failure. Recall 19V581000 affects 27 vehicles where the external handle may break, preventing easy emergency exit from outside. Dealers will replace the outer handle at no cost.
- Spring actuated parking brake defect. Recall 18V597000 involves 2,089 vehicles. Improper crimping can cause air leaks or spring brake chamber separation, increasing stopping distances and crash risk. Dealers will replace suspect brake chamber assemblies free of charge.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, unresolved recall issues, or safety defects related to braking or fire hazards may have rights under their state’s lemon law. They should consider consulting a legal professional for further guidance.
