VISIBILITY/WIPER
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Palisade vehicles. The windshield wiper motor may operate intermittently or fail to operate due to snow or ice buildup on the windshield, causing the wipers to fail.
Risk: Windshield wiper failure can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
2022 HYUNDAI PALISADE
244980 vehicles affected
TRAILER HITCHES
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling 2020-2022 Palisade vehicles potentially equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Hyundai dealership. Debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.
Risk: A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

I went to stop at an intersection, and the car started vibrating, the antilock blocks engaged, but it would not slow the car down, depressing the brakes further would not cause the car to slow down, and I had to swerve off the road to keep from hitting the car in front of me. The power steering seem to be affected because the steering wheel was vibrating, and it was hard to steer it off the road to prevent a collision. The road was smooth, and there did not seem to be any apparent reason for whatever malfunction was going on.

Vechicle pulls to the right. This issue was noticed after the right side passenger tire was worn on the outside which normally indicates an alignment issue. Owner replaced all four tires and has a fron end alignment done at the same time. This issue continues and the Hyundai dealer is stating that there is not fix for this issue. Information available online indicates that there is a possible issue where the Steering Torque needs to be set to zero. This is a safety concern as the vechicle will go off the road.

I am writing to report a serious safety concern regarding my vehicle’s front passenger seat belt, which unexpectedly came unlatched. Although Hyundai replaced that one seatbelt, I remain very concerned that other seatbelts in the vehicle could have the same defect. I was informed that the warranty has been extended in case this issue happens again, allowing for additional replacements. However, this approach does not fully address the risk. If a seatbelt were to unlatch during an accident, it could lead to severe injury or death. This is a major safety hazard affecting all seatbelts in the vehicle.

Repeated rear suspension failures on cars with self leveling suspension. I will be having my 4th set installed in 3 years. Rear suspension failure leads to unpredictable cornering and possible accident in and emergency maneuver. Hyundai has stated that there is no issue to warrant a recall or TSB. I have filed a complaint with Hyundai corporate.

My car was making a rattling noise from the engine and would stutter at a stop and sometimes kick into park or turn off. No warning lights would turn on, on the dash board warning i was low on oil. The back passenger brake light warning light turned on. The Third seat middle seatbelt does not lock. I took into Hyundai to get it serviced and I had to pay for my car to be put on a diagnostic test. I was told I was low on oil. I never had any warning lights go on, on my Dashboard. My motor could have blown out. The only warning light I got was my back light is out. I never had any warning signal go on my dashboard saying my seatbelt doesn’t lock. I had it serviced 2025 and again the same back tail light is out. I have kept my vehicle maintenance up to date. I am going to have to schedule another appointment for my back tail light ( same side) to get repaired

My 2022 Hyundai Palisade has repeatedly shut off while coming to a stop. The vehicle stalls unexpectedly, dashboard lights illuminate as if the vehicle is being restarted, and the gear sometimes shifts into neutral. I have to manually restart the car to resume driving. This issue has occurred multiple times under normal driving conditions—both when the Idle Stop & Go (ISG) system is enabled and disabled. The frequency of these stalls has increased, and they present a dangerous situation, especially at intersections or during heavy traffic. After researching online, I found that numerous 2020–2022 Palisade owners have reported the same symptoms. Many of them were told by their dealers that an ECU and/or TCU software update was needed. This suggests a broader systemic issue with the vehicle’s powertrain management system, which should warrant further investigation. As of now, no recall has been issued, but this is a recurring issue that poses a risk to driver and passenger safety. Hyundai has not officially acknowledged a recall or permanent fix, but affected vehicles are being patched with software updates at the dealer level.

My wife drives the vehicle regularly and mentioned that the seatbelt unlatched multiple times without force to the buckle or latching mechanism. The seatbelt problem was occuring before her vehicle accident and continues to happen afterwards. The seatbelt came completely undone while driving at highway speeds and seperately during stop and go traffic. You may inspect it as needed as long as the inspection does not impeed usage for traveling to work Monday - Friday 8-5 please. The vehicle is used as a primary means of transportation. The driver's safety is continously put at risk due to seatbelt failure and may cause bodily injury, serious bodily injury, or death if not corrected. The vehicle was dropped off at Hyundai Northwest in San Antonio for a seperate issue and the seatbelt failure was mentioned and I was told there is no active recall for it to be fixed. They did not investigate further. The vehicle has been to classic collision repair on Fredericksburg Rd in San Antonio for a rear end collision (not at fault). No warning lamps or messages noted.

The dealership is stating we have bad gas as the gravity of the gas was .74. And that we had bad fuel injectors. Mind you the dealership before this one advised us we had spark plug issues. So we called corporate and explained the situation and they advised we were covered under warranty. Now we tell them to go ahead and get rid of the bad gas and with the understanding we are covered under warranty for the fuel injectors. We advise the dealership we spoke to corporate and they advised the fuel injectors are covered under warranty. The weekend goes by we check on the car Monday and the dearlship advises we are not covered. So we call corporate back who is now advising it's up to the dealerships to honor the warranty and it looks like we are not covered. We are the original owners of the car and can't understand how our car has been down for 3 months and the person who makes the warranty want cover. This is the classic bait and switch and who protects the consumer?

To date, the windshield has cracked and required replacement three times. This has happened in August 2023, Sept 2024 & May 2025. The first instance was caused by a small chip resulting from a visible impact. However, the subsequent two replacements occurred without any known cause or visible damage, suggesting a potential defect in the windshield's design or material integrity. This ongoing problem is not only inconvenient and costly, but also raises serious safety concerns. Windshields should not crack spontaneously under normal driving conditions. Is it the quality of the windshield or is this issue part of a larger defect affecting this vehicle model?

I am writing to formally report a significant safety concern involving my 2022 Hyundai Palisade, specifically related to the radiator and coolant system. In November 2024, I experienced issues indicative of a coolant leak, including engine overheating warnings and noticeable coolant odors. Upon investigation, I discovered that Hyundai had issued Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #23-EM-003H on August 3, 2023, acknowledging that certain 2020–2022 Palisade models may exhibit a slight coolant leak at the radiator. Despite this acknowledgment, Hyundai has not initiated a recall, leaving many consumers, including myself, vulnerable to potential engine damage and safety risks. Furthermore, numerous complaints have been filed by other 2022 Palisade owners reporting similar issues: •One owner reported an engine overheat warning while parked, followed by a strong coolant smell and visible coolant leakage. The dealership diagnosed a cracked radiator. •Another owner experienced coolant odor inside the vehicle and was informed by the dealer of tiny pinholes in the radiator, necessitating a replacement that was delayed due to high demand. These incidents highlight a pattern of radiator failures that pose a risk of engine overheating and potential safety hazards. The lack of a formal recall or widespread notification to owners exacerbates the issue, as many may be unaware of the potential danger. Given the severity and frequency of these problems, I urge the NHTSA to: 1.Initiate a formal investigation into the radiator and coolant system defects in 2020–2022 Hyundai Palisade models. 2.Assess whether Hyundai’s current measures are sufficient to address the safety risks associated with these defects. 3.Consider mandating a recall to ensure affected vehicles are promptly and effectively repaired. I appreciate your attention to this matter and your commitment to vehicle safety.

While driving the car on highway the oil plug fell and eventually seized the engine. There has been multiple complaints for the same for other Hyundai vehicles as well. The car is in dealership right now with engine failure. While driving the car on I-81, suddenly smoke started coming out of hood. Stopped to check and then while starting the car again, saw oil check and engine check light come on after. The dealership mentioned oil plug fell off and oil spilled all over engine. The last service was over 7 months ago and was due for service soon. Couldn’t be negligence but a problem with Hyundai.

The front passenger seatbelt suddenly popped open while making a turn. The same thing previously happened with the drivers seatbelt but figured I must have not fully buckled it; when it happened to my husband weeks later in a different seat, I researched it and see it is a known issue.

Driving on the highway, the sunroof exploded randomly. Glass blew up and out of the car, endangering anyone driving behind us. Glass also fell into the vehicle on myself and my pregnant wife. There were no warning lights or signs prior to this happening. This car is a certified pre owned car under warranty that had just gone through a full inspection prior to purchase in the fall of 2024.

I have experienced a couple times where the driver's seatbelt has become unbuckled. We have owned the Palisade since May of 2022. We have had now issues with the seat belts until this past two weeks. I buckled the front seat belt like normal. It unclicked. I forced the seat belt to click harder and it did stay secure, but a couple miles down the road the seat belt unclicked. Possible faulty seat belt. As mentioned, this has not been an issue until now.

The rear passenger captain seatbelt does not latch properly. My daughter who is [XXX] struggled one day to get the seat belt to latch. Upon inspection nothing appeared to be stuck in the latch. The seatbelt would enter into the lower lock fine, but not engage. After several attempts the seatbelt would eventually latch. However when driving if under pressure, the seatbelt has come unlatched with no action to the release button. I had a similar issue with the rear seatbelt in the third row that just wouldn't latch no matter what and the dealership replaced no issues. I took my car to Vision Hyundai in Canandaigua this morning and was informed that they couldn't replicate the issue so the latch was in fact not broke. The gentleman was putting his whole weight into it when latching it, but did share if he slowly tried to latch it didn't catch, but that wasn't a safety concern. After reviewing multiple hyundai forums, I see I am not alone and this appears to be a wider issue. 37 others have filed a formal complaint regarding this issue and I tried to tell the guy, I don't want to be driving and get into an accident and then the seatbelt decides to "fail". It should be taken at the customers request and the seatbelt should be replaced even if there is no formal safety recall. Since I have owned this vehicle in 2022 I have had an issue with my second row seatbelt’s unhitching after they are lached. I brought this to the dealers attention and they told me they are fine as they are we’re not able to duplicate it and if I wanted them to look into it further and they didn’t find an issue I would have to pay out of pocket for their time. No it s so bad that several times throughout our drive they will just unlatch. This is a serious safely concern.

I am writing to formally submit a complaint regarding multiple ongoing and serious issues with my 2022 Hyundai Palisade. These issues not only diminish the performance and reliability of the vehicle but also raise significant safety and quality concerns. Below are the problems I have encountered: 1.Thermostat and Coolant System Defects: Like many other owners of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade, I have experienced problems with the thermostat and coolant system. My vehicle has exhibited signs of overheating, posing risks to the engine’s longevity and safety. 2.Radiator Leak: I have identified a radiator leak, which is troubling for a relatively new vehicle. This suggests a defect in the materials or assembly, as this should not be occurring under normal operating conditions. 3.Oil Pan and Filter Housing Issues: •The oil pan has developed a crack, which is highly unusual, especially since Hyundai has performed all of my vehicle’s oil changes. This raises concerns about part quality and service handling. •Additionally, I have noticed oil leaking from the oil filter housing. This leak not only raises concerns about engine performance but also indicates a potential flaw in the design or installation of the oil filter system. 4.Faulty Sensors: My vehicle’s sensors frequently activate without any nearby objects or obstacles. These false alerts are a serious distraction while driving and undermine the effectiveness of the car’s safety features. 5.Key Fob Malfunctions: While driving, I have repeatedly encountered the “key not in vehicle” warning, despite the key being present inside the car. This issue is not only an inconvenience but also a potential safety risk if it disrupts the vehicle’s operations unexpectedly. The combination of these defects is unacceptable for a vehicle of this age and reputation. These problems suggest significant flaws in manufacturing, design, or maintenance practices that Hyundai should address immediately.

This has now happened 2 times now (once in the fall of 2024 and the other time was 2 or 3 weeks ago) to the driver side seatbelt. Before driving, I buckled and clicked my seat belt and while I was driving, the seat belt unclicked and unlocked on it's own. The first time this happened, I thought maybe I didn't secure it all the way, but when it happened a second time, I knew for sure I had fully buckled my seat belt and it unlocked on it's own. This is a huge safety concern. If I got into an accident and my seat belt became unlocked, I could be killed. And I am concerned about the other seat belts as well. I have 2 small children who are always in the car with either my husband or myself (or both of us). I am concerned that their seat belts could have the same issue. No warning lights went on and I have not had the seat belt inspected yet. I researched online and saw no recalls, so I wanted to make sure this was reported in case others are having the same issue. It's very concerning. If my vehicle is needed for inspection, I am happy to do so as long as I have another car to drive in the mean time. This is our only vehicle.

The seat belt in the rear right passenger seat became disengaged on 1/13/25 while driving. The alert indicating the belt had become unbuckled did alarm. This has happened repeatedly, including recently on 1/10/25 when the front passenger seat belt became disengaged while driving. This has occurred when both children and adults are occupying the seats.

Rear of car was noisy going over bumps, self leveling shocks were replaced at around 16k miles , then shocks failed again at less than a year at 49k miles and replaced a 2nd time. Seems to be common issue on palisade forums. These shocks should be recalled due to failure rates. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
