Debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.

Risk: A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

The electronic child safety lock system that is controlled with the door panel has been consistently failing since about 6 months after i got my vehicle. It tries to the lock the doors repeatedly until the system fails and tells me "child safety lock failure" on the display. I have had it in the service department on four separate occasions where they have not been able to pinpoint the issue. They have replaced the door actuators in the rear doors as well as some of the fuses and wiring, but I have not gotten a resolution from any of the actions. It appears that there is some connection to my key fob because when I'm approaching the vehicle I can hear the locks start to engage. My concern is that once the system fails, the child safety locks are no longer engaged, which means my children can open the doors.

Child Safety Lock Failure: This message displays on instrument panel upon immediate startup of vehicle and randomly after the child safety lock clicks on and off continuously. Child safety lock is stalled in a continuous lock and unlock clicking mode. This has happened while drving and after the car is in park and I am taking a child out of the car. After depressing child safety lock button on driver's door panel, the sound stops.

ENGINE

We have brought the vehicle to Potamkin Hyundai on three separate occasions, [XXX] [XX], and [XXX], and [XXX] due to the engine stalling unexpectedly while driving. This issue has placed our family, including our children, in serious danger and has not been resolved. At our initial visits, we were informed that the engine was consuming excessive oil. However, during our most recent visit on August 5, 2025, we were told that the engine was full of oil and functioning properly, and that no error codes were present. Because they were unable to duplicate the issue, we were told we would need to pay out of pocket to tear down an already faulty engine which is unacceptable. Despite this, the vehicle shut off once again while driving, creating a hazardous situation that is completely unacceptable and life-threatening. SEAT BELTS

The seatbelt sensor kept going off even though seatbelt appears to be buckled. Dealership identified that seatbelt buckle was not operating correctly and not clicking all the way. This put my kids unknowingly at risk.

SERVICE BRAKES

Left rear break calipers are frozen, wearing down the break pad and rotors within 1 day, breaks grinding metal on metal. When brought into Autozone they stated they had 8 other palisades this month alone with the same exact problem. There were no lights, warning or messages to the system. Vehicle was driving fine earlier in the day.

This issue is concerning the sunroof. Hyundai released a TSB on the sunroof wind deflectors but not yet a recall even though so many people have been impacted by it. The TSB states: “ On certain Palisade (LX2) vehicles, the sunroof wind deflector may malfunction and cause damage to the sunroof mechanism. The sunroof may be inoperable and become stuck in the open, partially open, or closed position.” Mine became inoperable and would not close which could cause safety issues with wind noise, rain coming into the car and other debris

SEAT BELTS

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the second-row seat belts seized and failed to release without disconnecting the buckle, and then retracting the seat belts to be able to move the seat belts as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer six times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 312.

Failed 4WD Coupler: (Part#: Part#: 47800-4G500) 1st time: 95,471 miles - November 2024 2nd time: 106,702 miles - August 2025 Hesitation when pulling out of parking lots or turning on to street. Problem acknowledged by dealer and replaced both times under warranty No warning lamps or message. Problem seems to be wide spread based on comments on Facebook forum "Hyundai Palisade Owners"

SERVICE BRAKES

Brake pedal intermittently goes soft or does not respond properly. Dealership flushed brake lines but issue returned within weeks. No ABS or brake system warning lights are triggered. Safety is a concern due to potential brake failure and lack of system alerts.

STEERING

Steering worm gear shaft making noise, through research found this to be an ongoing issue with the Hyundai Palisades. If this fail's it can lead to complete loss of steering control.

SUSPENSION

The 2021 Palisades started riding very rough and bouncy. I made an appointment and took it to Edmond Hyundai for the repairs. They initially said that the rear insulator-strut needed to be replaced and they would order them. It took 10 days to get the parts from Dallas and made another appointment to get it fixed. The dealership took 6 hours to replace only the insulator and kept it over night to do the 4 wheel alignment which they would not cover as warranty per the Service Manager but it was need. I picked it up the next day only to discover that only the insulator was replaced and was told that the service tech test drove the vehicle and it's fixed. I drove out and tested the suspension, it took only 1 mile and back it went to get fixed.

This car is consuming oil rapidly.I checked oil level to and had no oil on dip stick The car has not bee inspected yet. No warning lamps came on to warn me of low oil.

VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware of parts falling from the sunroof tract onto the front passenger’s seat. The contact held on to the remaining parts of the sunroof tract to prevent the sunroof from detaching. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. In addition, the contact was informed that there was no evidence of failure to determine what caused the sunroof tract to fracture. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,582.

SEAT BELTS

Drivers side seatbelt doesn’t retract correctly when released. Often gets stuck and jammed in the car door. Also it doesn’t tighten enough to be effective in a crash and locks the problem is intermittent and even with an extended warranty that I paid for, Hyundai refuses to cover this and says that they can’t replicate even though I replicated this in front of the service tech and provided a video of this occurring. I have uploaded pictures of the damage the seat belt caused and it won’t let me upload the video of the problem occurring.

SUSPENSION

Rear suspension shocks were blown and started leaking causing the vehicle to become very bumpy and unstable. The blown shocks were confirmed by a brake shop and ultimately replaced at the manufacturer dealership.

The forward collision warming sign just activated when there is no danger. The car will suddenly apply sharp brakes when you are even on the high with a speed over 65 miles per hour. It is very dangerous and scary and can lead to accidents. My car false alarms get activated more than three times a day. I hope Hyundai will recall this and fix this issue.

The Right Captain Chair seat belt come unbuckled while we're driving down the road, this happened multiple times, every time when we visit dealer, they manually check it (without passenger in seat or simulate the issue) and said no issue with seat belt buckle. There is not option to reproduce and record the situation to prove while driving, however this is life threatening to my kids if the belt unlatched from the buckle while car is on the road. Note: This happened multiple times in 2024 and three times in 2025

SUSPENSION

2021 Palisade was in for a repair on 5-13-2025. Mileage at that time was 62,144. I requested that a noise that I was hearing in the back of the car be investigated. The noise sounds like a pop that happens when turning or going over bumps. I was told by the dealer that the rear shock insulator caps needed to be replaced to the tune of $2000. I was not told there is a TSB for this issue. Unfortunately, this issue occurred when I was on vacation or I would have been able to have the car looked at before it hit 60,000 miles. The warranty might have covered this issue at that time. I researched this issue and learned of the TSB on this vehicle for this issue. I have read this website and learned that many have reported this.

SEAT BELTS

The second row seat belt on just one of the seats has done the following: it takes multiple attempts to get it to latch, it will "click" latched and then release shortly thereafter, or it will just release for no reason after being latched for several minutes. Reading online, it appears this is happening to a lot of other Palisade users as well. It started doing this about a year ago and still continues today. It is an intermittent problem and does not do it everything you attempt to fasten the seatbelt. This is very concerning because we have kids in these seats and fear their seat belts could come unlatched during an accident.

UNKNOWN - On Sunday, June 1 2025, whilst driving West Bound on the 408 tollway in Orlando, FL, the sunroof of my car exploded and shattered. I was driving with the sunroof and sunshade closed. I was driving approx 70 miles an hour when I head an explosion, then heard glass spidering and then the glass bits falling on to the sunshade and also traveling down the roof of the car. I pulled over as quickly as I could. Looked at the back of the car I wanted to make sure nothing else happened to my car. When I climbed to look on top of my car, the sunroof had shattered. I took a small video. I immediately exited the freeway, and took side streets home. The entire way, I could hear glass bits dislodging and either hitting the sunshade or traveling off the roof. On the 408, there were only two passenger cars in front of me (no big trucks) and a few cars right behind me. No rocks bounced off anything to hit the sunroof. Traffic on the East bound side was very light also. 1. Yes, car can be inspected. Garage kept since Sunday June 1.25. 2. Safety- if the sunshade would have been open, the sunroof would have shattered into the car, covering me with glass. 3. Appnt with dealer is Thur June 12.25 4. No- no one has seen the vehicle yet 5. No warning lights, just a huge explosion above my head.

We have made multiple attempts for problem-solving and resolution, including always having an adult buckle the seat, and attempting to clean all areas to ensure there is no dirt or debris with no resolution.

It will latch (and we know it’s latched because it clicks and there’s no seatbelt warning), but while driving it will unlatch for no apparent reason. A child sits in this position.

ENGINE

My 2021 Hyundai Palisade has had some issues relating to the engine recently. We take extremely good care of our cars, and are early when due for our oil changes. A couple of months ago, my husband checked my Palisade's oil before a trip. There was NO oil showing on the dip stick! I had just gotten an oil change 2000 miles before. He added 6 quarts of oil, and it was still only showing half full. We brought it up to the dealer, and they did an oil change and $900 worth of replacing things that were not covered on the extended warranty. Last month, I drove it, and the engine light went on AGAIN. We brought it in, and they said there was no oil? We told them it is not leaking anywhere, but it might be burning off or slipping somewhere else. They did an oil change (which we had to pay for even though there was no oil) and told us to come back in 1,000 miles. We went back and they said it was burning over a half quart after 1,000 miles, but Hyundai won't do anything unless it burns more than 1 quart in that time. Then, 3 days later, my engine light comes back on, and here we are again. NO oil, not even 1,500 miles, and at the dealership again A WEEK LATER! This time, they are doing a combustion chamber cleaning? I understand there are procedures that need to happen, but this does not fix that my engine is burning my oil. 3 of my coworkers have had their engines replaced due to this issue of oil consumption and where it goes. This can cause my car to die on the side of the road, immediately, and combust! My family is at risk of being in the car, and so are others who drive around me if this happens. Why is Hyundai waiting for this to happen? This is completely negligent on their end!

STEERING

The vehicle pulls to the right at all times, but most significantly at higher speeds. This causes veering and constant correction resulting in driver fatigue. The right sided pull is present with and without lane keeping assistance. This issue has been confirmed by dealership and two alignments have been performed by independent shops without resolution. The vehicle passed certified preowned inspection prior to sale and there are no prior records of pulling right other than abnormal tire wear at ~25,000 with all 4 tires replaced prior to purchase 4/23/25.

After 3–4 uses, they locked up and stopped functioning, causing a serious visibility issue. This occurred while driving, putting my safety at risk. This symptom directly matches NHTSA Recall 23V-180 / Hyundai Campaign 243, which I was told had already been addressed by the dealership I purchased from (Fitzgerald Hyundai in Gaithersburg, MD). I bought the vehicle used in April 2023, around the time this recall was active. I brought the vehicle back to that dealership in May 2025. They confirmed the wiper motors appeared to be binding and recommended replacement. However, they claimed the issue was not related to the recall and charged me a diagnostic fee of $209. Their service summary matches the defect described in the recall. I believe the recall fix was either never performed properly or did not actually resolve the underlying issue. This appears to be a recurring safety defect that puts drivers at continued risk.

SUSPENSION

Have had rear shocks replace twice by the dealer with less than once at 35,000 miles again at 60,000 mile on the SUV. now with around 70,000 miles on the SUV the shocks need replaced again. It is unacceptable for a manufacture to know how bad the shocks are on a vehicle and not come up with a better design. This is a border line safety concern suspension plays a vital role in a vehicles road manners and ability to maneuver car in hazardous situations. Replacing shocks on a vehicle every 25,000 miles to have a safe vehicle for my family is unacceptable.

Picked the car of the shop from having the hood and roof repainted. The seatbelt tensioner was broke. Therefore it doesn’t retract. It may have been twisted at one point. But now it just lays on seat. No one can ride in front seat bc of a broken seatbelt.

On at least three confirmed occasions, the driver side 2nd row seatbelt has unlatched by itself. No other symptoms. Not yet inspected by anyone, but intending to ask Hyundai to fix it ASAP.

The second row seatbelt will come unlatched on its own. This happens after ensuring that the initial buckling was done properly. My child is in a booster seat in this rear passenger seat, and I am anxious every time I drive with her in the car as her safety is very much at risk. The dealer has not been seen for this problem as I feel it would be a waste of my time and money. If they replace the seatbelt with the same defective parts, nothing will be solved. The seatbelt warning goes off when this happens and turns off when the seatbelt is buckled again.

Self leveling struts continually are trash. They do not last more than 2 to 3 thousand miles of highway driving before they are no longer safe. The adaptive cruise control randomly reads as "radar blocked". And will work only intermittently.

While driving the vehicle the second row seat belts, after being buckled for the duration of travel, would randomly come unlatched/unbuckled. This left the passengers restrained by those seatbelts unprotected and leave the owner with no confidence that the seatnelts would hold in an accident situation. It has happened on both sides of the vehicle in the second row seats. This has happened 4 times over the last two years. The problem has not been reproduced or examined by the manufacturer or any other the owner.

SEAT BELTS

The seat belts in the first and second row unlatch unexpectedly. I have asked the dealership to look at it and they could not reproduce it. However, it happens regularly with my children in the back seat. This has been an ongoing issue since I have owned the car and seems to occur more during colder days.

It’s true that it doesn’t happen every time/can be unpredictable. However, it continues to happen and is a major safety concern. I looked online to see if others were experiencing the same problem and found that many others are.

Middle row right seat belt keeps coming unlatched during normal operation. I ensure that it is latched correctly when I start driving. The passengers are not touching the seatbelt when it unlatches. We are notified that it’s unlatched by the seatbelt alarm. This started happening about three years after purchasing the vehicle. After happening several times, we took it to the dealer, who said they couldn’t replicate the event. It happened again about a week later.

STRUCTURE:BODY

I tried opening my sunroof and it made a clicking noise and is now stuck partially open. The dealership said that there is a set of Hyundai vehicles that are being covered by this malfunction but that my particular VIN isn't included. A Hyundai dealership is looking at it on Monday 03/17/2025 and is unsure if Hyundai will cover the repair since my VIN isn't included and I am past the bumper to bumper warranty. I only have the powertrain warranty left.

Second row seatbelts unlatch unexpectedly while car in motion. Seatbelt sensor alarms go off even when seatbelt latched. This has happened in all 3 rows in separate instances. Seatbelt alarm will sound and panel indicates seats with nobody in them have seatbelts that should be latched. This has occurred when an object (like a purse on the passenger seat) or no object on the seat.

SUSPENSION

Shock failure within 33,000 miles. Going over bumps at higher speeds causes some loss of control of the vehicle. Dealer confirmed the issue with the shock upper insulator. No one else has inspected this at this time. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms. When driving at any speed bumps on the road cause very bumpy ride. Dealer states Hyundai's TSB 22-SS-001H has been rescinded. Shocks failed within 33,000 miles. No remedy for knocking and rattling noise in rear of vehicle caused by shock mounts. This seems to be the cause of the shocks failing prematurely.

I am having problems with the seatbelt buckles in the second and third row seats, either not buckling to begin with (the seatbelt will not latch), or the seatbelt spontaneously unbuckles while I am driving. It is an intermittent problem, the seatbelts sometimes work but sometimes don't work. I took my car in to my local Hyundai service center for this problem in 5/2024 and the technician was able to replicate the problem in the 2 second row seats and both buckles were replaced. The seatbelts all worked well until about a month ago and now I am again having the same problems with intermittent spontaneous unlatching of the seatbelts in the 2 second row seats and one of the third row seats. I took my car in to my local Hyundai dealership on [XXX] and unfortunately the technician was not able to replicate the problem that day. My local dealership (McDonald Hyundai in Highlands Ranch, CO) refused to try to fix the problem this time, and a complaint filed with Hyundai of America (case #[XXX]) has resulted in similar inaction--since the technician could not replicate the problem that day, they tell me there is nothing to be done. I am concerned that spontaneously unlatching seatbelts (in the seats my children sit in) are unlikely to work properly to restrain them in the case of a car accident. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Child safety locks failed and clicked attempting to engage until turned off.With the locks unable to engage, children able to utilize windows and open doors which put their safety at risk. Replaced under warranty.

STEERING

Auto-off reengaging makes the steering wheel jerk abruptly to the side and creates loud thinking noise which is startling to the driver. I was able to replicate at the dealer and have it on video. Dealer reports this is normal for the vehicle and they are unable to rectify.

VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY

Rear passenger seatbelt behind driver side started randomly unlatching itself in the last two months (first noticed in December 2024). Most recently, the driver‘s side seatbelt (front seat) has begun unlatching itself. Rear passenger is most often a child (age [XXX] ) in a booster seat but problem occurs with an adult passenger without a booster as well. We have moved the child seat to the far back row of seats for safety concerns. Driver’s side unlatches roughly one out of every three to four uses. Rear passenger seat no longer latches. The passenger seat belt will spontaneously unbuckle without warning or cause. This puts the passenger safety at risk in case there were a crash. The problem hasn't been repaired by a dealer but it's happened about 4 or 5 times. I've not had it inspected. No warning lamps went off before the failure. Luckily, the passenger unlock alert went off when it unbuckled so we were alerted to the seat belt buckle malfunction.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

When turning on the child safety locks, the doors repeat a clicking sound for a few minutes sounding as if the doors are locking. After the noise stops, the dashboard shows the message "child safety lock failure". My small child has been winding the window down since I cannot lock the windows and doors properly. I am afraid she will get a body part caught in the window or open the door while driving.

The rear suspension is not working. The SUV bounces around like a roller coaster. This occurred somewhere around 30,000 mile mark. Before that, the ride was smooth.

On two separate occasions, the front passenger side seat belt has disengaged during driving. There was no warning when this occurred. The seat belt monitor was off (indicating it was appropriately latched) when this occurred. The entry of the seat belt is very soft and does not latch appropriately. I have brought this up to the hyundai dealership I have my car serviced at and am awaiting an appointment to address this concern. Unfortunately, they are unable to get me in for an appointment for 2 months.

Had vehicle checked at dealership and they said “all checked out and we found no diagnostics problem”. Also weren’t able to duplicate incident. I hope to God I AM UNABLE to duplicate the incident and cause fatalities including myself.

Seat belt on front passenger seat randomly comes unlatched while driving. I asked my dealership to review this in May 2024 and then again in 1/2025 as it keeps happening. The seat belt is clicked and suddenly comes loose and then the seatbelt alarms start going off. Dealership has not been able to replicate. I would say this has happened about 6 times since I started noticing it. The dealership since they can't replicate, they won't pay for it. And say no recall. I am paying for the dealership to change out the seat belt.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Child Safety Lock Failure notice - both parked or driving, I will hear a clicking noise coming from the doors. Sometimes I will receive a Child Safety Lock Failure error message on the dash. This would sporadically continue to happen while driving and even if my vehicle is parked and off and I happen to do something like open the doors. The vehicle has been serviced numerous times by Hyundai dealership and the door actuators have been replaced but the problem persists.

My second row passenger side sealtbelt unlatched itself without notice when driving on the highway at 50 miles per hour. My grandson was sitting in his booster seat when the seatbelt unlatched! It was a frightening ordeal! We were on an expeessway with limited availability to pull over. The adult passenger in the other second row seat made several attempts to secure my grandson's seat belt after it unlatched, while the car was in motion, unsuccessfully. We purchased this vehicle 2 months ago from a dealership. As soon as we got the car, both of the second row seatbelts were very hard to lock. Several attempts had to be made to get them to lock every time they were used with a child seat. The vehicle is available for inspection. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center since this happened today. I have made an appointment with a dealer to have my seatbelt replaced in 2 weeks. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps pr messages that indicated this problem. Once again, there were symptoms of the problem because when we first got the car, we had to make several attempts for both 2nd row seatbelts to lock when used with a car seat.it was highly annoying!!! But I had no idea the seatbelt would ever unlock itself. Scary!!!!
