2006 HUMMER H3 Complaints and Recall Information
The 2006 HUMMER H3 has 3 complaints and 2 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report problems with the air conditioning and heater systems, including strange odors and heating issues. Some also report the vehicle burning engine oil without visible leaks and concerns with the anti-theft system preventing the vehicle from starting.
Common Issues- Heater activation issue. Adjusting the air selection from coldest sometimes causes the heater to turn on unexpectedly.
- Burning smell. The heater system occasionally produces a burning odor, prompting owners to turn off the system.
- Engine oil consumption. After 90,000 miles, owners report the engine burns oil rapidly without leaks, requiring frequent oil top-ups every 2-3 weeks.
- Anti-theft system malfunction. The anti-theft feature may prevent the vehicle from starting, especially in stressful situations, with delays of about 10 minutes before the engine can start again.
There are 2 recalls related to structural and HVAC components affecting the 2006 HUMMER H3. The recalls address potential hazards with the hood louver and the blower motor connector in the HVAC system.
Recalls- Hood louver clips (Recall 10V179000). Applied to 162,129 vehicles, fractured integral clip-tabs on the hood louver can cause the louver to rattle, loosen, and potentially detach while driving. A detached hood louver may strike following vehicles causing injury or property damage. Dealers apply an adhesive to secure the louver free of charge. The recall began April 12, 2010.
- HVAC blower connector (Recall 15V421000). Affecting 164,993 vehicles, the blower motor speed connector module may overheat, increasing the risk of fire. GM will replace the blower motor connector and harness at no charge. The recall started February 26, 2016.
Owners facing repeated repairs or safety defects tied to these issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Those with unresolved recall concerns should consider consulting a legal professional specializing in consumer protection and lemon law claims.

GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2010 HUMMER H3 VEHICLES. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE INTEGRAL CLIP-TABS ON THE LOUVER ON THE HOOD MAY FRACTURE, CAUSING THE HOOD LOUVER RATTLE AGAINST THE HOOD AND BECOME LOOSE. IF THIS INDICATOR IS UNNOTICED, ADDITIONAL CLIPS COULD FRACTURE AND THE HOOD LOUVER COULD DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE.
Risk: IF THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVING WHEN THIS OCCURS, IT COULD STRIKE A FOLLOWING VEHICLE AND CAUSE INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

On the electrical, I refer to my air conditioning and heater. When I have my air selection to coldest and I drop 1 click for it to be less cool, my heater turns on and at times it smells like something burning. I have to turn it off . On the engine, after I hit 90,000 miles, I have to fill up my engine oil every 2-3 weeks because my vehicle is burning it quick or something. It doesn't leak oil at all. The oil just seems like it's burning somewhere and I ha e to be waisting money to buy oil $30 to $60 a month. Please help. Thank you!
