BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
Honda (America Honda Motor Co) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Ridgeline vehicles. The rearview camera (RVC) tailgate wire harness may fatigue and break, which can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying.
Risk: A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.

Auto-dimming headlights do not work properly, not always dimming for oncoming traffic, and/or randomly switching between high and low beams without cause. This blinds and confuses oncoming traffic.

The auto High beam function on this vehicle is absolutely useless. It dims when it should be on. It dims needlessly for highway markers and road signs. The constant on and off of the high beams on a dark road with no other cars is dangerous. This system on the ridgeline is dangerous. I have the system on other cars and it works almost perfectly but not in this vehicle.

ID: 2089443TIRES
I am filing this complaint regarding the OEM General Grabber A/T tires (date code 1424) that came with my brand new 2024 Honda Ridgeline, purchased in June 2024. At approximately 16,000 miles, I noticed significant dry rotting and cracking between the treads on all four tires. This was observed right before a planned long-distance trip, raising serious safety concerns. I maintain proper tire pressure and take excellent care of my vehicle, and I live in Vermont where the climate is harsh but not extreme enough to justify this kind of premature deterioration. The dealer referred me to Honda’s 1-800 number, who then directed me to Continental, the parent company of General. Continental opened a case and instructed me to visit a Continental dealer, who confirmed the dry rot but said they need to pull the tires to send them back to Continental for inspection before they decide whether to approve the warranty claim. Meanwhile, I am expected to purchase a new set of tires upfront. This process is not only burdensome but also concerning given the potential safety risk of these tires. Tires with only 16k miles should not be deteriorating like this, and I believe other owners should be aware of the issue. Please investigate the integrity and safety of these tires, as the premature dry rot could pose a serious hazard to drivers.

While sitting at a stop light at an extremely busy intersection, After pressing the Auto Idle Off button in trying to keep the air conditioner running, my vehicle just completely shut down like it had a completely dead battery. I couldn’t even turn on my hazard lights. The vehicle was completely dead. After pressing the on/off button several times, power to the vehicle was restored and I was able to restart the vehicle. It reminded me of when a computer glitches and reboots on its own. By happening at an extremely busy intersection, I felt like my safety and the safety of others may have been in jeopardy if other vehicles would have made aggressive maneuvers to get around my inoperable vehicle.

Manual driver’s seat height adjustment slowly reverts to a lower height position without touching the manual mechanism. This is a daily occurrence. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the dealer or any other independent source. This problem began occurring shortly after purchasing the vehicle, or was unnoticed until then. An internet source that claimed to be a mechanic for my brand identified the problem requiring a new seat base, as the mechanism is built into that seat base.

The automatic engine stop/start system is a safety hazard. On multiple occasions with two different drivers (husband and wife owners), the engine has stopped just as the accelerator is pressed after waiting for traffic to clear at a stop sign or while waiting to enter a street from a driveway or parking lot. The delay when expecting the vehicle to accelerate has nearly caused accident(s) several times. Drivers are forced to switch off the automatic stop/start system every time the vehicle is driven since it defaults to active and it is not safe to use. The system should be permanently disabled or at least programmed to be disabled as default when engine is started. This issue was reported to the local Honda dealer during the first routine service--owners were told that nothing could be done by the dealer. The service advisor suggested that we contact manufacturer or NHTSA directly. The incident date and mileage were entered below for yesterday since that was the latest event. It has happened numerous times since the vehicle was purchased in July 2024.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle with the auto high beam feature activated, the auto high beam feature malfunctioned, causing the high beam lights to turn off and on independently. The contact stated that the high beam lights were illuminated for more the 8 seconds before deactivating. The contact stated that the failure had created a visibility hazard for the driver. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the failure was due to a faulty multifunction camera. The multifunction camera was replaced but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and determined that the multifunction camera had operated as intended. The failure mileage was 100. The VIN was not available.

The auto-dimming bright lights are too sensitive, going on & off so quickly it creates a hazard to the driver & on-coming traffic. It is almost like a strobe light. These trucks have had this very same problem for years. Please force a fix.

The auto dimming headlight feature is too sensitive. There is constant toggle of high and low beams when this feature in enabled. Any and all type of reflection from street and traffic signage trigger the lights to dim which causes the constant on and off of high beams. This causes distraction of both the driver of the affected vehicle and drivers of other vehicles in close proximity. Honda service said there is no way to adjust sensitivity setting.

Gasoline fumes originating from engine compartment and entering the cabin of vehicle via HVAC. Fumes are thick enough to cause eyes to water, mild respiratory distress (coughing) and clothing to smell of gasoline after exiting the vehicle. Concerns exist about possible fuel leak given how dense the fumes are. Multiple users on social media report similar issues of gasoline fumes from the motor coming into the cabin via HVAC system across the Honda lineup, but mainly users with the 3.5 liter v6 motor. Some point to leaking fuel lines. Of those I found looking for a solution, all said Honda techs either located a fuel leak or were unable to fix. Dealer will be inspecting vehicle at next oil change if not sooner if problem continues to worsen. Issue is intermittent but increasing in incidents over the past three days. With the motor running, vehicle idling in park and HVAC system off, the fumes do not enter the cabin. The moment the HVAC system is turned on, the cabin begins to fill with fuel fumes. Fumes don’t fully disperse from the cabin when driving unless at highway speeds. Vehicle was purchased new from dealer, has never been involved in any incidents or experienced any issues beyond poor drivers side window performance. The check engine light isn’t illuminated nor are any other fault indicators. NOTE: given how many complaints I’m seeing online about this exact issue, I wanted to submit this to see how many others have reported fuel fumes coming from the motor. If it is as widespread as users indicate, I’d hope that multiple reports have been submitted and my report is one more into you launching an investigation. I live on a farm with equipment twice my age. Fuel fumes don’t happen inside the vehicle unless something is wrong, even the oldest trucks on the property with fuel tanks stored behind the drivers seat inside the cabin.

The headlights automatic dim function is dangerous. It will repeatedly flash the brights or high beams at on coming vehicles as they approach and even when they are quite close as you pass head on. This will blind oncoming traffic and most likely cause road rage in some susceptible people. The function is sometimes automatically turned on and difficult to turn off. When in dark areas where high beams should be used the headlights continually go from high to low for no apparent reason. In rural areas or on highways with poor paint it makes it dangerous to see animals or pedestrians as well as the road shoulder. This should merit a recall as a check on reports found on the internet show that this is a systemic problem associated particularly with the Honda Ridgeline.

The highbeams while not failing do not operate in a safe manner. While driving you are unable to really disable them. While driving about 12 miles down hill the Auto High beams repeatedly turned on likely blinding oncoming traffic and traffic passing me while I scrampled to turn them off so that I would not blind other drivers. These auto high beams seem poorly designed and poorly thought out there should be easier ways to disable them other than having to park and hold a lever down for like 40 seconds. Legitimately thought I was going to accidentally be responsible for someones death mine or traffic around me because my high beams were coming on unprompted.
