FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Was traveling ~60mph on a 3 lane section of interstate highway when vehicle in front of me abrutly decreased speed. I braked until my vehicles matched that speed. As I raised my foot from the brake pedal (I had matched the speed of the vehicle in front of me and had an acceptable amount of seperation given the flow of traffic), the brake pedal fell away from my and to the floor and I felt ABS engage. This nearly resulted in my vehicle being rear ended by the car following me. I have driven with the emergency braking system active since the incident (as it is by default after every vehicle power cycle) and have not encountered this behavior again. This had not previously occured in the ~20,000 miles of usage prior to the incident. Since no damage occured during the incident, the vehicle has not been inspected by anyone besides myself.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The rear windshield on my 2023 Honda Civic suddenly shattered so heavily that I could not see through it. Absolutely nothing hit it to cause the shatter. Soon after, the whole windshield broke and glass went all over the backseat of my car. This is a known issue with Honda. Corporate said it should be covered as I still have the 3yr/36k miles warranty in effect. The dealer says it's not covered. I am now fighting this with corporate. Dealer says that regardless, it will take 2-3 WEEKS for them to get a new windshield, as they are so back ordered. I wonder why? Even Consumer Reports states that Honda is fully aware of the issue on many models.

STEERING

I am writing to bring to your attention a safety recall on my vehicle. On several occasions, I have visited the Lancaster Honda Dealership, located at 43244 Drivers Way, Lancaster, CA 93534, to request an appointment for the necessary repair. However, I was informed that, as I am not a customer of their dealership—meaning I did not purchase my vehicle there and have not had it serviced recently—they are unable to assist me. I was told that they only receive two repair kits per week, and these are prioritized for their customers. The last Honda dealership where I had my vehicle serviced is located in Long Beach, CA, approximately 90 miles away. Since I now reside in Lancaster, CA, I believe it is unreasonable to expect me to travel that distance to address this safety recall. I kindly request that this matter be investigated further to ensure proper resolution.
