Subject: Complaint Regarding Steering Noise Issue on 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Dear Honda Customer Service, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the steering issue on my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid, purchased in June 2023. •In July 2024, when my vehicle had around 29,540 miles, I first reported a steering noise issue to the dealership. At that time, the dealer only applied lubrication, which did not resolve the root cause. •In July 2025, when the mileage was around 60,440 miles, the same steering noise reappeared. The dealership replaced the right inner tie rod and performed an alignment, but the noise persisted. Later, they concluded that the steering rack would eventually need replacement. •I also noticed that this issue only occurs in extremely hot weather (high summer temperatures around 90°F). Once the temperature drops to around 70–80°F, the noise disappears completely. Because of this seasonal nature, the problem is very hard to reproduce during normal conditions, and it was not fully diagnosed while the car was still under warranty. Now, Honda has denied goodwill repair, stating that the vehicle has exceeded 60,000 miles. However, I strongly believe this problem started during the warranty period (July 2024) and was not properly resolved by the dealer, despite multiple visits. The issue is clearly related to a defect that only appears in extreme temperatures, which is beyond my control as a customer. This is extremely disappointing, as I have always trusted Honda’s reputation for quality and reliability. A steering problem is a serious safety concern, and denying repair based solely on mileage—when the defect clearly originated under warranty—feels unfair and unprofessional. I am requesting that Honda reconsider this case and provide goodwill repair coverage for the steering rack replacement. If this matter is not addressed, I will have no choice but to escalate my complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),

Component/System that failed or malfunctioned: Power Train: automatic transmission internal (CVT). The vehicle stops responding to acceleration, remains static while the engine continues at high revolutions, without generating forward movement. The component is available for inspection upon request. How safety was put at risk: The incident occurred while driving on the highway. By losing acceleration power and not being able to maintain the required speed according to traffic laws, I was at risk of being struck by other vehicles traveling at normal highway speed. This situation posed an immediate danger to both myself and other drivers. Problem reproduction/confirmation: The dealership inspected the vehicle and informed me that, at this time, there is no safety bulletin related to my unit. Inspection by third parties: I have scheduled an appointment with the dealership for September 5, 2025, where a more detailed evaluation of the problem is expected to be performed. Warning signs or prior symptoms: When the failure occurs, several warning lights illuminate on the dashboard and then turn off. Timeline / first occurrence: The failure occurred on August 14, 2025, at 9,215 miles. Related campaign reference: There is an existing NHTSA recall campaign for the same vehicle model: NHTSA Campaign ID: 23V588000

I will be driving down the road and my vehicle will pop up with the brake message and slam by brakes. It does it randomly. It has put my safety in risk multiple times. It has done this on the interstate and thankfully there was no one behind me. I was going 80mph and it dropped me to 30mph in less then 5 seconds. The issue has not been reproduced since it does it randomly. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership many many times. There were no warning symptoms or anything. It just does it very randomly. I had an investigation open with Honda and all they said to do was take it back to the dealership. This car is an issue to public safety. I could very well be in front of someone one day who is not paying attention and there could be a very bad issue. There has been so many times these issues have occurred.

Driving the vehicle at highway speeds the large orange “Brake” warning illuminates and flashes, and the brake activates. This has happened approximately 5-6 times since I have owned the car. This started within 2 months of purchasing the vehicle. The dealer has tried replacing the front camera and I have changed the battery. None of this has fixed the issue. According to my Innova 5610 code reader, there are 32 pending codes for the Electric Brake Booster, including bring temperature too high, brake booster driver, circuit, overheat, brake pedal stroke sensor component, internal failure, brake pedal stroke sensor one circuit short to ground, brake pedal stroke sensor one circuit short to battery or open, brake pedal stroke sensor two circuit, short to ground, brake pedal stroke sensor two circuit short to battery or open, sensor voltage, a short circuit to ground, driver seatbelt sensor, vehicle, communication bus a performance, vehicle communication bus C performance, lost communication with the ECM/PCM A, F – can malfunction PCM – TCM, can communication failure with driving support system control unit, lost communication with vehicle, dynamics, control, module, lost communication with park brake control module, can reception error SRS, can malfunction ECM/PCM gauge control, module, invalid data received – signal has too many transitions/events, invalid data received from transmission, control, module – event information, invalid data received from vehicle dynamic control module event information, electric parking brake system malfunction control module – internal electronic failure, battery voltage circuit voltage below threshold, battery circuit voltage above threshold, and control module input power a circuit open. After I changed the battery and took the vehicle to the dealer for recalibration they mentioned the pending items, but did not do anything about them or record them on their paperwork.

My 2023 Honda Accord, with about 62,000 miles has a fault transmission, that is claimed a loss and needs to be replaced for almost $8,000. The transmission is currently at the dealership, but might be returned to Honda if a new one is installed. Our safety is being put at risk because if the transmission fails while driving the vehicle will not operate accordingly. The issue has been confirmed by my local Honda dealership, as well as others online confirming same issue with Honda CVT transmissions. The vehicle and transmission has not been inspected by police, manufacture, or insurance yet. There was no warning light. I did start to hear a ticking sound at 57,000 miles. My powertrain warranty is until 60,000. However, I was told by dealer to wait to do recall and regular service at same time. Now, I am passed my warranty 2,000 miles and they do not want to cover damages. I am almost positive it is a manufacturing issue because there is no way a transmission failed at 60,000 miles. Especially on a Honda. IF my transmission is replace I also do not receive an extended warranty, so I have 0 confidence in vehicle and do not want to keep it.

Florida recently experienced a lower than average cold front. During this cold weather I started experiencing a problem with my steering. I initially described it as a twitching feeling with my steering but the next day I figured out how to recreate the issue consistently. My car wants to push me to the left into oncoming traffic. When I correct to the right I feel a momentarily resistance then the steering "let's go" and then steers right. I could repeatedly do this again and again. Car drifts left I steer right, steering sticks and then let's go to the right. I call and describe the issue immediately to my local dealership. They said my car isn't included in current recall for similar issue with crv etc. my appointment is in 3 days and now the weather is back in the 70s and I cannot recreate the issue. I'm sure when I drop it off, Honda will also not be able to recreate the issue in warm weather. It is a significant problem and needs to be addressed. My daughter thought she was going to be forced into oncoming traffic or the interstate wall because of it. Accords should be included. There's definitely a problem. I have a video that shows the twitch but I understand that probably doesn't mean much. Honda needs to fix this issue immediately
