2019 GRAND DESIGN REFLECTION Complaints and Recall Information
The 2019 GRAND DESIGN REFLECTION has 1 complaint and 4 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report structural issues related to the 5th wheel pin box, including excessive movement caused by a cracked supporting frame. The failure of this component creates a risk of trailer detachment which poses serious safety hazards.
Common Issues
- Cracked frame. A complete crack through the front attachment beam of the 5th wheel pin box causes excessive movement at the connection point between tow vehicle and trailer. This defect presents a risk of uncontrolled trailer detachment leading to possible injury or death.
Four recalls address various electrical and suspension system defects affecting safety and vehicle operation. These recalls involve wiring errors, missing axle bearings, and the lack of over-current protection in power circuits.
Recalls
- Outside electrical outlet wiring. (NHTSA Recall 18V637000) Affected 53 units. The outside 110V outlet was not wired to a ground-fault (GFI) protected circuit, risking electrical shock during appliance use. Dealers will install a properly wired GFI receptacle free of charge.
- Missing axle bearings. (NHTSA Recall 18V658000) Affected 997 units. Axles may lack inner bearings, leading to burnt-out bearings or overheated hubs. This increases fire risk. Dealers will replace hubs or axles at no cost.
- Mini-breaker wiring error. (NHTSA Recall 18V729000) Affected 92 units. Incorrect wiring to the 50 amp mini-breaker can leave the circuit unprotected and increase fire risk from overheating or shorts. Dealers will inspect and rewire the breaker as needed for free.
- Power converter circuit protection. (NHTSA Recall 18V764000) Affected 1765 units. The power converter circuit lacks over-current protection, increasing fire risk from electrical shorts. Dealers will inspect wiring and breaker installation and correct defects free of charge.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs related to structural defects or unresolved recall remedies should consider their rights under state lemon laws. Safety-related defects and multiple recalls may justify further legal evaluation.

Excessive movement of 5th wheel pin box as a result of cracked frame supporting it. This is the only point of attachment between the tow vehicle and the trailer. Complete failure could lead to uncontrolled detachment of trailer resulting in serious damage, injury or death. Grand Design inspected range of motion of the rear of the pin box on Feb 9, 2025 and deemed it not an issue. However, the front attachment point has a complete crack through the supporting beam which they will not address.
