2011 GMC YUKON Complaints and Recall Information

The 2011 GMC Yukon has 3 complaints and 9 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report intermittent system failures affecting the engine, brakes, and electronic controls, creating unpredictable and potentially dangerous driving conditions.

  • Engine stalling. Reports indicate the engine stalls unexpectedly, compromising vehicle operation.
  • Braking issues. Users report problems with the braking system that may affect stopping performance.
  • Electronic system malfunctions. Various electronic components fail intermittently, impacting vehicle control and safety features.

There are 9 recalls involving multiple systems, including steering, suspension, ignition, and air bag inflators. These recalls address safety defects that could affect vehicle control, crash protection, and occupant safety.

  • Steering linkages. (NHTSA 11V339000) 739 vehicles affected due to improperly tightened intermediate steering shaft bolts. This defect risks joint separation leading to loss of steering control and increased crash risk. Dealers will inspect and tighten bolts.
  • Rear axle spindle. (NHTSA 11V007000) 30,566 vehicles recalled for rear axle cross pins that may fracture and displace, potentially causing axle lockup and loss of directional control. Dealers will replace the rear axle cross pin.
  • Ignition system. (NHTSA 14V827000) 84,192 vehicles recalled for ignition lock actuator binding or sticking in the “Start” position. This can cause sudden loss of engine, steering, and braking power, raising crash risk. Dealers will inspect and replace ignition lock housing if necessary.
  • Passenger air bag inflator (Zone A). (NHTSA 21V054000) Over 1.7 million vehicles recalled due to risk of inflator explosion from degraded propellant, which may send metal fragments inside the vehicle causing serious injury or death. Dealers will replace the inflator. Interim and follow-up notifications have been sent.
  • Passenger air bag inflator (Zone B). (NHTSA 21V050000) Over 2.6 million vehicles recalled for similar propellant degradation issues causing inflator explosion risks and occupant injury. Dealers will replace the inflator free of charge. Owner notifications have been mailed.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or unresolved recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney to explore options is advisable in such situations.
