CHILD SEAT:VEHICLE LATCH ANCHOR

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles. The four rear-seat lower child seat LATCH anchorage bars may have excessive powder coating, which could prevent a child seat from being installed with the anchorage bars. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems."

Risk: The inability to install a child seat with the LATCH anchorage bars could result in an unsecured child seat, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

My GMC Terrain started, but then stalled as I tried to pull away from the curb & drive. When I tried to restart it, it turned over but would not start. My AAA Autoclub servicemember used his "check engine" interface machine to determine that the fuel pump module was not communicating with the car, though there was half a tank of gas. This issue has been a well published problem with this year, make & model online, but GMC is not including my VIN# in the recall. I had the car towed to my mechanic & his diagnostic tests revealed the same problem - fuel system module. I would have been in danger if there had been any traffic on my residential street. If the car had driven a few blocks & then stalled, I would have been on a busy boulevard. There were no warning signs prior to the stall. There is a "check engine" icon lit up now because it is going to require service. My mechanic can't fix it, so I need to arrange another tow to get it to a dealership service department. Thank you

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I went to start my vehicle up my two days ago (8-25-25) It made a horrible sound and just shut off. The lights on the dashboard would not go out when I turn it off. I also couldn't put in gear. It had to be towed using a dollie to the repair shop. I was told that the module fuel pump power control had to be replaced. The shop owner then went on to tell me that this very same brand (GMC), has been entering his shop at a shockingly alarming rate with this same problem. I'm not very pleased with having to have this repair done as my vehicle is no longer under warranty. It cost me $432.18. I'm not rich and am living in a time as many others are that don't have a bunch a money laying around to throw away. I find this very distressing as well as unfair to my family and I to have to have this replaced on a relatively newer vehicle. If you are aware of this problem, it out to be addressed. I as well as others should have been made aware as well. At the least, I think that I am entitled to a refund for the cost of the repairs.

AIR BAGS

I was driving down a paved road and my side airbags deployed. The gm investigation showed my car left the road way, however I am uncertain of that. There was no crash or impact or damage to the vehicle from this incident other than the airbags deploying. There is a scrape on the passenger side due to an incident in April. That is not related to this incident.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Three times in one month, four months after purchasing vehicle from dealership, the vehicle stalls while driving and will not restart. After running codes, each instance prompted a P129F code for the fuel pump driver control module. After the second incident, the vehicle was inspected by a qualified repair shop and no issue or stored codes were found. When the issues occur and the car stalls, the Check Engine Light and a Low Battery warning message can be seen on the instrument panel. When this issue occurs, the vehicle's gears cannot be shifted manually. The vehicle must be force shifted by hand, via transmission components under the hood, in order to place the car into neutral.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The backup camera on my vehicle stopped working completely, displaying a blank screen. All other cameras and sensors continue to function normally. The dealership identified the issue as the camera having “shorted out” and is replacing it with a completely new unit. The faulty camera is currently with the dealership, and I assume it would be available for inspection upon request. It is being replaced and I will receive a bill in a few days (Wednesday March 10, 2025). The backup camera is a critical safety feature designed to prevent collisions with pedestrians, objects, and other vehicles when reversing. Without a functioning camera, visibility is significantly reduced, increasing the risk of an accident, especially in crowded parking lots or areas with low visibility. The sudden and unexplained failure of this system is a serious safety concern. Yes, the dealership confirmed the issue when I brought my vehicle in for inspection. They determined that the camera had “shorted out” and ordered a full replacement. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership, which is handling the replacement. To my knowledge, no manufacturer representatives, police, or insurance agents have examined the issue. There were no warning lights, error messages, or other indications before the failure. The backup camera was functioning normally, then suddenly stopped working, displaying a blank screen. I have heard that Cadillac and GMC Acadia models have experienced similar backup camera issues, leading to recalls due to sudden failures. Given that my vehicle’s camera “shorted out” without warning, I believe this may be part of a broader issue affecting GM vehicles. If this is a recurring problem, it poses a serious safety risk and should be investigated further.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

This is the second time this occurred, once in Oct 2024 and on 1/25/25. While driving the check engine light came on and within one minute the vehicle began to stall and within 20 second the engine shut off. The first time it happened in the middle of the road and the second time I was just able to turn onto a side street. In both cases the vehicle would not restart and left me stranded.
