POWER TRAIN

Problem #1: Trailer brakes failed while pulling 40' fifth wheel trailer. Was driving at about 50MPH on a 55MPH road and was approaching a stop light. I went to apply my truck and trailer brakes simultaneously and quickly found out I had "lost" my trailer brake. This happened another two times within the next 10 mile trip to my house. I immediately disconnected my trailer and took my truck to the shop. The GMC Dealer fixed this issue, however, it is both scary and extremely dangerous to the public when something like this happens on a brand new truck. Problem #2: Right around 30,000 miles I was driving (unloaded) down the road at about 35MPH when I felt a hard clunk in the transmission followed by grinding noises - immediately a notice flashed on the dash stating the truck went into reduced acceleration and the check engine light came on. I brought my truck to a local GMC Dealer to be serviced on June 19th and they advised me it was the Allison transmission valve body. The part has been on back-order and my truck is still at the dealership sitting in the back lot with at least 4 other 2024 HD models. I called GM twice to inquire about Safety Recall N242454440 (covering 2020-2022 GM Vehicles) and recommend that it get extended beyond 2022 since the problem with the transmission valve body has not been resolved yet. I have not heard anything back from them since that call back in June.

Loss of audio throughout an entire drive/ignition cycle. This includes the loss of the blinker click/clack audio when the blinker is on. When the loss of audio issue occurs, the driver has no audio input indicating a blinker is on even though the actual blinker is flashing to other drivers. Therefore, an unaware driver (due to no audio feedback) with a blinker left on could have another driver pull out in front of them thinking they intended to turn with the result being a collision.

Code P0777 – "Pressure Control Solenoid 'B' Stuck On" – Reduced Propulsion / Reduced Engine Power Initiated While merging onto the interstate, this code triggered a reduction in engine power, limiting my speed to 35 mph on a highway with a posted limit between 40-70 mph. Due to the limited power, I was forced to drive on the shoulder to reach the next exit and pull into a service station. I verified the code using an OBD-II reader at AutoZone. Subsequently, I had the truck towed approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes back home. The vehicle has been at a GM dealership since June 24th, where the faulty valve body has been confirmed. However, there is currently no estimated arrival date for the replacement part, which was ordered on the same date. To my knowledge, the part has only been diagnosed electronically and has not yet been visually inspected. The dealer plans to remove the valve body and transmission pan once the replacement part arrives. Notably, there were no prior warnings, messages, or symptoms before this issue occurred; this code and power reduction were the first indications of a problem.

My truck is experiencing an issue that is already a recall for similar trucks, but my VIN is not included in the recall. My tailgate opens on its own. This sometimes happens when I am driving down the road. This is a safety risk because if I am hauling something in the back, and the tailgate drops down, there is a chance the load could fall out of the truck and harm another vehicle or person that is behind my truck. I brought the truck to the dealer and they said they could not find any evidence of this issue, even though they stated that it is a known issues with these trucks. There were no waring lamps or messages. The only symptoms are that the battery can die if the truck is not used for a day or more and that the tailgate opens on its own whether the truck is parked or driving.

Safety Concern Report: 2024 GMC Sierra Gear Shifter Obstruction ⸻ Vehicle Information: 2024 GMC Sierra [Specify 1500/2500/3500] [Optional: VIN Number] ⸻ Description of the Problem: I am writing to report a design concern with my 2024 GMC Sierra. The location and height of the gear shifter on this vehicle significantly obstruct the driver’s view of the center infotainment screen and console, especially while seated in a normal, upright driving position. The gear shifter blocks important information such as navigation directions, ETA, media controls, and other on-screen notifications. This forces me to lean forward or reposition myself in an unnatural way while driving, which I believe creates an unnecessary distraction and increases the risk of driver error or loss of situational awareness. I have attempted to adjust my seating position, steering wheel angle, and seat height, but none of these adjustments fully resolve the obstruction. After discussing this issue with other owners online, I found that multiple GMC Sierra owners have experienced the same visibility problem. Some have even resorted to aftermarket modifications to address the design flaw. I believe this is a design oversight that affects safe vehicle operation. I respectfully request that GMC and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this issue for potential corrective action. ⸻ Requested Action: Please investigate this safety concern and consider potential solutions, such as a recall, design revision, or retrofit option to improve screen visibility without forcing the driver into unsafe driving postures. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

STEERING

My truck wonders down the highway. It has been to the dealership well over 4 times. They have aligned the truck multiple times, changed the steering gear box, changed the power steering pump, changed tires and nothing fixes it. It takes constant adjusting of the steering to stay in my lane on any road. Quite pitiful for a $90,000 truck. It is currently at the dealership for the THIRD time in the past 7 days because they can’t get the truck to stop leaking fluids since changing the power steering pump. Excessive play in the steering and has been like that since day one that I left the lot. My wife can’t even drive the truck because she feels unsafe with how much play is in the steering. The dealership won’t do anything about it and is offering $20,000 less than I gave for the truck now that I can’t tolerate it anymore. But I refuse to lose that much money with only 13,000 miles on it. I just want a safe and reliable truck for my business and my family. Unfortunately that is not what GM has provided me with.

The AC/Heat blower (fan) stopped working. The vehicle was new purchased new May 2023. August 2024 the blower motor stopped working. Took the vehicle to Jerry's GMC Weatherford, TX (where it was purchased) and they check the blower motor and replaced it. No charge for the service. Reason given for blower motor problem was, "motor shorted out, burnt the wiring and the connector". Now, February, 2025, the blower motor stopped working once again. Took it back to Jerry's GMC, Weatherfore, TX. The blower motor had shorted out once again, burnt the wires and connector. Reason given for the reaccurring problem, " the blower motors they are getting have a bearing problem, causing the motor to go to ground, overheat the wiring and burns the connector". They replaced the blower motor once again and no charge. The reason for this notice is, With these motors shorting out because of internal problems, the wiring melting and connector melting, there is the possibility of a fire hazard. We feel that there needs to an investigation into this problem before something happens. Thanks

I leased this vehicle on May 17, 2024, expecting it to function as intended. Instead, within months, it suffered recurring and escalating failures that have rendered it unsafe and unusable. January 7, 2025, I brought the truck to Gates GMC for routine service and reported that it had lunged forward by approximately 2 to 2.5 feet while shifting into park. Additionally, it exhibited irregular acceleration and rough down shifting in lower gears. I also communicated the check engine light has come on and gone off on the dashboard over the past week a few times without receiving any information on the app. At this January 7th visit, GM performed Recall N242435631, supposedly addressing a known battery drain defect that caused total vehicle shutdowns. On January 24, 2025, I started the truck and was immediately overwhelmed by an intense chemical odor coming through the ventilation system. January 31 – February 1, 2025 – Erratic Engine Warning Lights & Diagnostic Failures On January 31, 2025, at 5:28 PM, on this key cycle the check engine light illuminated but failed to register in the GM app. On the next key cycle, the warning disappeared. The following morning, February 1, 2025, at 10:26 AM, the check engine light Appeared on the first key cycle before disappearing on the second key cycle. The onboard diagnostics system failed to log or retain these warnings. On February 7, 2025, the vehicle suffered a complete electrical failure. no electronic function whatsoever. Roadside Assistance attempted to jump-start the truck using a high-powered jump pack, but it remained inoperable. A ford super duty and jump pack were needed to force start the truck. February 10, 2025 the truck suffered another total electrical failure and required towing to Gates GMC. The app indicated the Brake System, Anti-Lock Braking System, Emissions System (Specifically the exhaust system), and Power Train requiring service. POWER TRAIN

I leased this vehicle on May 17, 2024, expecting it to function as intended. Instead, within months, it suffered recurring and escalating failures that have rendered it unsafe and unusable. LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST

The systems have become unavailable. Took to dealership and they were told it just needed a software update. Dealer performed update GM sent and did not work. Dealer was told GM engineers would need to find a fix. I complained to GM and asked that they replace the cameras, especially because the vehicle is under warranty, and I was told no because that won't fix the issue. They don't even know what needs to be done to fix the issue though, but won't try a camera swap. They told me I need to take it back to the dealer so they can run diagnostics on it when the issue happens. I don't know what is so hard to understand that the issue is always there; the systems don't work and my dash always has the light the forward collision system not on and given a message when I start the truck that it is not available. This began to be an issue around 9000 miles. It first started by saying window camera blocked due to frost, but when it was clear, and I cleaned every camera and sensor, it still would not come on. This was 1.5 months ago. I don't understand why they are not trying to expedite fixing this safety issue. The dealer can't do anything until GM tells them to change out camera or send another fix, but there is no software fix available. I can forward emails between myself and GM and you can clearly see they are not listening. If that would be helpful, please let me know how to forward them.
