2024 GMC HUMMER EV Complaints and Recall Information
The 2024 GMC HUMMER EV has 3 complaints and 2 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with sudden vehicle vibrations and unexpected rolling when stopped on a slope, as well as problems with charging and drive power loss. Some reports describe warning notifications related to the electronic stability control and one-pedal driving system failing.
Common Issues
- Sudden violent vibration. Vehicle vibrates strongly while stopped on a slight downgrade and rolls into adjacent traffic lanes despite brake application.
- One-pedal driving failure. Activation becomes unavailable after vibration, prompting users to rely solely on brakes for stopping until re-enabled later.
- Vehicle rollaway. Vehicle slowly rolls forward without driver command while stopped on a slope, increasing crash risk.
- Drive power loss. Vehicle fails to accelerate after restarting power, requiring cycling the system for functionality.
- Charging failure. Vehicle becomes unable to charge, leading to potential inability to restart and stranding risk.
- Recurring issues post-repair. Problems returned after service visits with issues recurring within short mileage.
- Warning lights displayed. "Service ESC" and "Service Engine Soon" warnings appear on the driver information display during faults.
The vehicle has two recalls related to electrical and propulsion systems affecting drive power. These recalls address wiring insulation issues in the rear drive unit that could cause drive power loss.
Recalls
- Rear drive unit wiring. (NHTSA Recall N242447080 / Camp No. 24V320000) Ten vehicles affected as of May 9, 2024. Insufficiently insulated wires in the rear drive units may contact each other, causing loss of drive power. This loss increases crash risk. Dealers will replace the rear drive unit at no cost. Owners received notification letters on May 16, 2024. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisories issued.
Owners facing repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues related to safety defects may have rights under state lemon laws. Those dealing with consistent power loss or stability control malfunctions should consult consumer protection resources for further assistance.

On August 11, 2025, at about 2:52pm, my vehicle was at a complete stop at an intersection awaiting the traffic light to turn green. There was a slight downgrade slope towards the intersection. The vehicle one-pedal driving was enabled. Weather was sunny with no wind or rain. Suddenly, the vehicle started vibrating violently and started rolling into the intersection. I pressed on the brake pedal but the vehicle continued to vibrate and the vehicle rolled into the middle of the adjoining lane of traffic. There was no traffic on the roadway and no other vehicles were affected. My vehicle had come to a compete stop in the roadway and I attempted to accelerate through the intersection but the vehicle would not move. I recycled the power to the vehicle and placed the vehicle into drive and proceeded to drive through the intersection. I do recall that when I was pressing the brake pedal, the vibration felt somewhat similar to vibration of the ABS brake system when the tires are losing traction but the vibration was much more pronounced. I pulled the vehicle onto the side of the road and checked the driver information display. A "Service ESC" notification appeared on the driver information panel followed by "One-Pedal Driving Unavailable Use Brake for Stopping". No other warnings or notifications were observed after this incident and the vehicle seems to be driving normally. I was able to re-enable the one-pedal driving mode the next morning.
