Recalls
  • Air conditioner fuse risk. Recall 12V011000 affects 1407 vehicles with Carrier GENV EM-1 evaporator units where a fuse may loosen causing high resistance and arcing, which can melt the fuse holder and cause a fire. Glaval will notify owners and provide a retrofit kit free of charge.
  • Wheelchair lift cable fire hazard. Recall 12V580000 involves 704 buses with Ricon wheelchair lifts where an armored pendant cable may contact the power lug causing a short circuit and fire risk. Owners will be directed to Ricon for a free supplemental cover kit and instructions.
  • Wheelchair lift restraint issue. Recall 10V143000 covers 302 vehicles with Ricon public use lifts where the restraint belt can appear latched without proper engagement, risking injury if the lift moves with an occupant. Ricon will supply warning decals and training aids at no cost.
  • Electric door actuator fire risk. Recall 13V520000 impacts 699 buses with A&M Systems door actuators where voltage spikes may damage circuit boards leading to high resistance and fire risk. Glaval dealers will replace the circuit boards free of charge.
  • Air conditioner evaporator detachment. Recall 13V309000 affects 3705 buses where rear interior air conditioner evaporators may come loose and fall, posing an injury risk. Dealers will tighten or replace mounting bolts free of charge.
  • Wheelchair lift platform cracking. Recall 14V599000 involves 828 buses with specific Ricon lifts where side plates may crack, allowing the platform to separate and fall when doors open, risking injury. Supplemental support bumpers will be installed and cracked platforms replaced at no cost.
  • Armored cable clearance hazard. Recall 14V226000 includes 42 buses where the armored pendant cable on certain wheelchair lifts may contact the power lug without proper clearance or cover, causing a fire risk. Ricon will provide a supplemental cover kit free of charge.

EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY

Glaval Bus (Glaval) is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 Universal, Primetime, Sport, Concorde, Titan, Titan II, Entourage and Apollo transit buses manufactured January 1, 2007, through December 3, 2012, and equipped with certain Ricon S-series and K-series wheelchair lifts, with an optional armored pendant cable. The armored cable may be positioned such that it does not clear the wheelchair lift.

Risk: If the cable does not clear the wheel chair lift it may contact the power lug and if it does not have a nonconductive cover, or it has an improperly installed non-conductive cover, then a short circuit may occur that could result in a fire.

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Glaval Universal, Primetime, Sport, Titan, and Titan II transit and shuttle buses manufactured January 1, 2006, to September 26, 2014, and equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by Ricon. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack.

Risk: If the platform side plates crack, the lift platform can separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door. When the doors are opened, the platform may fall out, increasing the risk of injury to the lift operator.

GLAVAL IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2007 TRANSIT BUSES BUILT ON FORD, GMC, CHEVROLET, AND FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH CARRIER GENV EM-1 EVAPORATOR UNITS. DUE TO TIME, TEMPERATURE, AND/OR VIBRATION, THE FUSE MAY LOOSEN IN THE FUSE HOLDER RESULTING IN HIGH RESISTANCE AND ARCING.

Risk: IF SUFFICIENT ARCING OCCURS, THE FUSE HOLDER MAY MELT, AND A VEHICLE FIRE MAY OCCUR.

EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY

GLAVAL BUS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2010 UNIVERSAL, TITAN, TITAN II, PRIMETIME, SPORT, AND APOLLO TRANSIT BUSES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN DECEMBER 2007 AND DECEMBER 2009 FITTED WITH RICON PUBLIC USE LIFTS. THE RESTRAINT BELT ON THESE LIFTS WAS DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE LIFT FROM MOVING, UNLESS THE TONGUE OF THE BELT IS FULLY ENGAGED AND LATCHED IN THE BUCKLE. RICON HAS DISCOVERED, HOWEVER, THAT IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE OPERATOR TO INSERT THE BELT TONGUE INTO THE BUCKLE WITHOUT FULLY ENGAGING THE LATCHING MECHANISM. IN THIS CASE, THE RESTRAINT BELT WOULD APPEAR TO BE LATCHED, AND THE OPERATOR COULD RUN THE LIFT. IF THE RESTRAINT BELT TONGUE IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED INTO THE RESTRAINT BELT BUCKLE, AND LATCHED, THE LIFT MAY OPERATE WITH AN OCCUPANT ON THE PLATFORM.

Risk: THE USER OF THE LIFT COULD BE INJURED SHOULD THE LIFT MOVE WITHOUT THE RESTRAINT BELT PROPERLY BUCKLED.
