2009 GLAVAL PRIMETIME Complaints and Recall Information

The 2009 GLAVAL PRIMETIME has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to wheelchair lifts and electrical components as indicated by recall data.

There are six recalls affecting various systems including air conditioning components, wheelchair lifts, and electrical door actuators. These recalls address potential fire hazards, lift malfunctions, and structural failures on adaptive mobility equipment.

  • Air conditioner fuse issue. Certain 2006-2007 transit buses with Carrier GENV EM-1 evaporator units have a fuse that may loosen, causing high resistance and arc welding, which can melt the fuse holder and may cause a vehicle fire. (NHTSA Recall 12V011000, 1407 vehicles affected)
  • Wheelchair lift cable risk. Model year 2007-2012 buses equipped with Ricon wheelchair lifts may have an armored pendant cable positioned improperly, risking contact with power lugs that could cause a short circuit and fire. (NHTSA Recall 12V580000, 704 vehicles affected)
  • Lift restraint belt defect. On certain buses with Ricon lifts from 2006-2010, the restraint belt may appear latched when it is not fully secured. This can lead to the lift moving with an occupant unsecured, risking injury. (NHTSA Recall 10V143000, 302 vehicles affected)
  • Door actuator electrical fault. Buses manufactured 2009-2010 with A&M Systems electric door actuators may have voltage spikes that damage circuit boards, causing overheating and fire risk. (NHTSA Recall 13V520000, 699 vehicles affected)
  • Wheelchair lift platform cracking. Certain Ricon lifts on buses from 2006-2014 may have platform side plates that crack, which can cause the platform to detach and fall when the door opens, increasing the risk of injury. (NHTSA Recall 14V599000, 828 vehicles affected)
  • Armored cable clearance issue. Some 2007-2012 buses with Ricon S-series and K-series wheelchair lifts may have armored cables that do not clear the lift, risking short circuits and potential fire without proper protective covers. (NHTSA Recall 14V226000, 42 vehicles affected)

Owners facing repeated repairs related to these recalls or unresolved safety concerns may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with a qualified attorney can help evaluate those rights.

EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY

Glaval Bus (Glaval) is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 Universal, Primetime, Sport, Concorde, Titan, Titan II, Entourage and Apollo transit buses manufactured January 1, 2007, through December 3, 2012, and equipped with certain Ricon S-series and K-series wheelchair lifts, with an optional armored pendant cable. The armored cable may be positioned such that it does not clear the wheelchair lift.

Risk: If the cable does not clear the wheel chair lift it may contact the power lug and if it does not have a nonconductive cover, or it has an improperly installed non-conductive cover, then a short circuit may occur that could result in a fire.

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Glaval Universal, Primetime, Sport, Titan, and Titan II transit and shuttle buses manufactured January 1, 2006, to September 26, 2014, and equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by Ricon. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack.

Risk: If the platform side plates crack, the lift platform can separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door. When the doors are opened, the platform may fall out, increasing the risk of injury to the lift operator.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Glaval Bus is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Entourage, Sport, Universal, Titan, Titan II, Apollo, Primetime, Concorde, and Concorde II transit buses manufactured August 4, 2009, through June 7, 2010 and equipped with A&M Systems-brand electric door actuators. Voltage spikes may damage electrical components and electrical circuits within the actuator, causing the circuit board to develop high resistance.

Risk: High resistance may cause the circuit board to overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.

EQUIPMENT

Glaval Bus is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 transit buses, models: Entourage, Sport, Universal, Titan, Titan II, Apollo, Primetime, and Concord; and manufactured January 1, 2007, through December 3, 2012. The buses are equipped with a Ricon manufactured wheelchair lift which has an optional armored pendant cable. The cable may have been installed such that it doesn't clear the wheelchair lift and without a protective cover, or a misinstalled protective cover.

Risk: The cable may contact the power lug at the base of the wheel chair lift causing a short circuit that could result in a fire.

GLAVAL IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2007 TRANSIT BUSES BUILT ON FORD, GMC, CHEVROLET, AND FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH CARRIER GENV EM-1 EVAPORATOR UNITS. DUE TO TIME, TEMPERATURE, AND/OR VIBRATION, THE FUSE MAY LOOSEN IN THE FUSE HOLDER RESULTING IN HIGH RESISTANCE AND ARCING.

Risk: IF SUFFICIENT ARCING OCCURS, THE FUSE HOLDER MAY MELT, AND A VEHICLE FIRE MAY OCCUR.

EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY

GLAVAL BUS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2010 UNIVERSAL, TITAN, TITAN II, PRIMETIME, SPORT, AND APOLLO TRANSIT BUSES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN DECEMBER 2007 AND DECEMBER 2009 FITTED WITH RICON PUBLIC USE LIFTS. THE RESTRAINT BELT ON THESE LIFTS WAS DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE LIFT FROM MOVING, UNLESS THE TONGUE OF THE BELT IS FULLY ENGAGED AND LATCHED IN THE BUCKLE. RICON HAS DISCOVERED, HOWEVER, THAT IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE OPERATOR TO INSERT THE BELT TONGUE INTO THE BUCKLE WITHOUT FULLY ENGAGING THE LATCHING MECHANISM. IN THIS CASE, THE RESTRAINT BELT WOULD APPEAR TO BE LATCHED, AND THE OPERATOR COULD RUN THE LIFT. IF THE RESTRAINT BELT TONGUE IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED INTO THE RESTRAINT BELT BUCKLE, AND LATCHED, THE LIFT MAY OPERATE WITH AN OCCUPANT ON THE PLATFORM.

Risk: THE USER OF THE LIFT COULD BE INJURED SHOULD THE LIFT MOVE WITHOUT THE RESTRAINT BELT PROPERLY BUCKLED.
