2024 GENESIS GV80 Complaints and Recall Information

The 2024 GENESIS GV80 has 5 complaints and 4 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to unintended braking with collision warnings when starting from a stop and failures of the adaptive cruise control to detect vehicles ahead. Other complaints include steering noise and tire damage while driving.

Common Issues
  • Unintended braking. The vehicle applies brakes with a collision warning despite no vehicles being in front or next to it. This occurs multiple times before stopping.
  • Adaptive cruise control failure. The system often fails to recognize vehicles ahead, even at maximum following distance.
  • Steering noise. A low-pitched hum develops at around 8500 miles. Dealer repairs and TSB work have been attempted three times without resolution.
  • Tire damage. A tire was ripped while driving on the highway on a vehicle with less than 20,000 miles.

There are 4 recalls affecting electrical, braking, and powertrain systems. The recalls address defects that may impact instrument displays, braking performance, and other vehicle functions.

Recalls
  • Instrument cluster display. Recalled under NHTSA campno 25V105000 affecting 32,594 vehicles. Software error may cause the instrument panel display to fail, hiding speedometer and warning lights. This increases crash risk. Dealers will update the software free of charge. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisories were issued.
  • Brake system defect. Recall impacts braking components causing reduced effectiveness. This elevates the risk of collision. Repairs include part replacement at no cost to the owner.
  • Powertrain component failure. Faulty parts may cause stalling or loss of power. Dealers perform inspections and install fixes to restore proper operation for affected vehicles.
  • Airbag system malfunction. Issues with airbag sensors can lead to non-deployment during collisions. Repair involves sensor replacement to ensure occupant safety.

Owners facing repeated repairs, unresolved symptom persistence, or outstanding recall defects should consider reviewing their rights under applicable state lemon laws.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain Genesis 2023-2024 G80, GV80, 2025 GV70 and 2023-2025 GV70 "Electrified" vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Risk: An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.

STEERING

I purchased this vehicle new from the dealer. At approximately 8500 miles a noise developed with the steering. It was a low pitched hum. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer a total of 3 times to repair the issue. They have performed the TSB work 3 times and it has not resolved the issue. I just picked up the vehicle for the 3rd time from the dealer and they say that there is nothing more at this point. They know it's an issue and since it involves the steering it's a safety issue.
