2017 GENESIS G90 Complaints and Recall Information
The 2017 GENESIS G90 has 3 complaints and 4 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with oil pressure sensors causing unstable oil pressure warnings. Other problems include multiple sensor failures and possible timing chain related malfunctions that have resulted in repeated repairs and check engine lights.
- Oil pressure sensor defect. Sensor failure causes fluctuating oil pressure warnings and oil level alerts, leading to concern over engine damage and costly repairs.
- Crankshaft position sensors failure. Multiple sensors failed at approximately 100,000 miles triggering check engine lights and requiring replacement.
- Valve cover gasket leaks. Valve cover gasket replacement was part of repairs related to sensor and engine issues.
- Recurring engine warning light. Check engine light illuminates during driving caused by unresolved sensor and possible timing chain issues.
- Potential timing chain problem. Dealer advised the failure might link to the timing chain but no diagnosis or repair was performed for this issue.
There are four recalls affecting the 2017 GENESIS G90 involving electrical systems and engine components. These recalls target potential fire risks related to starter solenoids and turbocharger oil feed pipes.
- Starter solenoid electrical short (24V107000). Approximately 90,907 vehicles recalled due to water potentially entering the starter solenoid causing electrical shorts that may result in engine compartment fires. Owners are advised to park outside until repairs are completed. A remedy relay kit will be installed free of charge.
- Turbocharger oil feed pipe leak (24V191000). Recall covers 28,439 vehicles with 3.3-liter V6 turbocharged engines where the left turbo oil feed pipe may leak, increasing fire risk. Dealers will replace the oil feed pipe at no cost. This expands a previous recall and requires owners previously repaired to return for the updated remedy.
- Loose turbocharger oil supply pipe seal (19V538000). A recall affecting 8,059 vehicles addresses oil leaks from a loose seal on the turbocharger oil supply pipe onto the exhaust manifold creating fire hazards. Dealers will replace the pipe free of charge.
Owners with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues involving engine failures or fire risks may have protections under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney is advisable for those facing ongoing problems with this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2017 Genesis G90. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The driver immediately pulled over. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that four crankshaft position sensors and the valve cover gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the failure might be related to the timing chain. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Oil pressure sensor (sender) issue: Oil pressure sensor defect (after oil level was checked a few times due to this issue) cause unstable pressure (oil level warning lights comes on and off) depending on how fast I drive. Make me very worried if it’s going to cause engine issues. I hear this is a common issue with this vehicle and it’s located bottom corner of many components and cause a lot of money/time to get it fixed.
