2017 FOREST RIVER XLR TOYHAULER Complaints and Recall Information
The 2017 FOREST RIVER XLR TOYHAULER has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to manufacturing defects covered by recalls rather than individual user complaints.
There are six recalls affecting various structural, labeling, suspension, and safety components of the vehicle. These recalls address concerns such as door hinge failures, incorrect tire pressure placards, inadequate safety chains, and suspension part defects.
Recalls- Door hinge defect. (NHTSA recall 16V957000) Affects 366 vehicles. The rear cargo door hinges may have insufficient welds causing the hinge pin to separate from the hinge plate. This defect can cause the door to swing down forcefully, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will replace the ramp door hinge at no charge.
- Safety chain inadequacy. (NHTSA recall 18V134000) Affects 157 vehicles. The safety chains installed do not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. Chains may fail if the trailer uncouples from the tow vehicle, increasing crash risk. Forest River will replace the safety chains free of charge.
- Incorrect Federal Placard axle info. (NHTSA recall 16V846000) Affects 5 vehicles. The Federal Placard fails to show the presence of a third axle, which may lead to overloading and loss of control. Dealers will install corrected placards at no cost to owners.
- Wrong tire pressure placard. (NHTSA recall 17V306000) Affects 52 vehicles. The placard incorrectly states rear tire pressure as 50 psi instead of 80 psi, heightening tire failure risk. Corrected placards will be installed for free.
- Tire pressure placard duplication. (NHTSA recall 17V306000) The same issue as above addresses tire safety and compliance with federal standards. Owners will receive corrected placards at no cost.
- Suspension equalizer length. (NHTSA recall 17V366000) Affects 100 vehicles. Axle equalizers that are too long may cause failure of the equalizer or axle springs, leading to possible loss of vehicle control. Dealers will install properly sized equalizers free of charge.
Owners dealing with multiple repairs or unresolved recall issues related to structural defects, suspension problems, or safety equipment may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a legal professional specializing in consumer protection can help clarify applicable options.

SUSPENSION
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2016-2017 XLR ToyHauler recreational trailers, models XLT23KW and WZXLT23KW. These vehicles were built with axle equalizers that are too long.

TIRES
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017 XLR ToyHauler trailers, model XLT26HFS. The Federal Placard incorrectly states that the rear tire pressure should be 50psi, when the tires should actually be inflated to 80psi. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Risk: The incorrect information may cause the operator to underinflate the tire, potentially causing tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.

STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2017 XLR Toyhauler and Prime Time Spartan recreational fifth-wheel vehicles manufactured August 21, 2016, to December 12, 2016. The affected vehicles have rear cargo door hinges with welds on the hinge pin and hinge plate that may be insufficient, and as a result, the top of the door may swing down with more force than normal.
Risk: The hinge pin may separate from the hinge plate, leading the side of the door to shift. This condition could cause the springs to lift off the hinged end of the door and could cause the top of the door to swing down with more force than normal, increasing the risk of personal injury.
