2018 FOREST RIVER SURVEYOR Complaints and Recall Information
The 2018 FOREST RIVER SURVEYOR has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to refrigerator overheating and labeling inaccuracies on trailers. The reported defects generally involve trailer equipment and safety labeling rather than mechanical failures.
Six recalls have been issued affecting various components including labeling, electrical systems, tires, and recreational vehicle equipment. The recalls address fire hazards, incorrect labeling leading to overload risks, and improper tire pressurization information.
Recalls- Incorrect axle label. (NHTSA Recall 19V191000) Affects 53 vehicles with models SVT201RBLE and SVT201RBS-47. The Federal placard incorrectly states a 3,500 lb. axle capacity instead of 2,500 lb. This mislabeling could cause trailers to be overloaded, risking loss of control and crashes. Forest River provides replacement placards free of charge starting March 18, 2019.
- Refrigerator fan missing. (NHTSA Recall 18V296000) Impacts 29 SVT241RBLE trailers. Lack of an air cycling fan causes refrigerators to overheat, risking tube failure and fire. Dealers will install cooling fan assemblies at no charge. Recall began May 9, 2018.
- Improper circuit breaker rating. (NHTSA Recall 18V002000) Covers 152 trailers including models SVT266RLDS and SVT33KRLTS. Circuit breakers installed allow more current than wiring can handle, risking wiring melting and fire. Forest River will replace circuit breakers free starting January 24, 2018.
- Incorrect tire size label. (NHTSA Recall 18V222000) Affects 5 ORSVT247BHDS trailers. Placards incorrectly list tire size ST225/75R15D and rim size 15X6.0JJ instead of ST205/75R14C and 14X5.5JJ. This could cause operators to overinflate tires leading to premature wear and crash risk. Corrected placards provided free beginning April 11, 2018.
- Tire compliance failure. (NHTSA Recall 18V222000) The same 5 trailers cited above fail to meet FMVSS 110 and 49 CFR Part 567 due to the tire issue. Forest River corrected the placards and notified owners at no cost starting April 11, 2018.
- Missing refrigerator cooling fan. (NHTSA Recall 18V185000) Covers 80 trailers including models SVT248BHLE and SVT248BHLE-OR. Refrigerator may overheat causing cooling tube failure and fire risk. Dealers will install fan assemblies free of charge. Recall began April 9, 2018.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or unresolved recall issues involving these trailers may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consult a consumer protection attorney for evaluation of individual cases.

EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS
Forest River, Inc (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Forest River Surveyor recreational trailers, models SVT201RBLE, SVT201RBLE-47 and SVT201RBS-47. The Federal Placard indicates that the vehicles have 3,500 lb. capacity axles, whereas the vehicles actually have 2,500 lb. capacity axles.
Risk: The incorrect label may cause the trailer to be overloaded, possibly resulting in a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.

EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018 Surveyor recreational trailers, models SVT248BHLE and SVT248BHLE-OR. The refrigerator in the slideroom may have been installed without an air cycling fan to cool the refrigerator parts, which can cause the refrigerator cooling tubes to fail.
Risk: If the refrigerator overheats, the cooling tubes may fail, increasing the risk of a fire.

TIRES
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018 Forest River Surveyor recreational trailers, model ORSVT247BHDS. The Federal Placard on these vehicles incorrectly indicate a tire size of ST225/75R15D needing 65 PSI and a rim designation of 15X6.0JJ, however, the vehicle is actually equipped with ST205/75R14C tires needing 50 PSI and a rim designation of 14X5.5JJ. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims." As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
Risk: If the operator goes by the incorrect information on the Federal Placard they can over inflate the tires and cause premature tire wear, increasing the risk of a crash.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018 Surveyor recreational trailers, models SVT266RLDS, SVT285IKDS, SVT285IKLE, SVT323BHLE, SVT33KRETS, SVT33KRLOK and SVT33KRLTS. These vehicles were built with a circuit breaker that allows more current that the wiring can handle.
Risk: The incorrect circuit breaker can cause the wiring to melt, increasing the risk of a fire.
